Achlys, the Guardian Vampire world, is run by seven kings. Six of those kings each rule over a sixth of the planet. The seventh king rules over the other kings and the entire world.
This system is mainly set up to prevent war, have a consistent type of currency, and reduce language barriers. There are now only three separate types of currency and seven different languages.
Each king wears a mask which are typically ceramic, porcelain, or metal. These masks are applied surgically, without painkillers, often disfiguring the facial structure of the kings and ruining their sanity. Depending on the mask, different parts of their faces must be shaved down to properly fit. Often times, kings die within a few weeks, but these current six have survived the painful process.
The public is unaware of any of their names and only 3 seconds of blurry film are allowed to be taken of the kings.

Elizabeth had to be kidnapped due to refusing to become a queen over Achlys. In punishment, she was ordered to have a blank mask attached to her face. To survive, she smashed the mask in with a random object, giving her the ability to breath and see once again. It is unclear whether she can talk or not.

Samantha is a kind leader, and is good at making decisions, she is the only queen with her mouth and eyes exposed, due to her lack of a family and friends. She is said to have a shapeshifting ability.

Not much is known about her past, and she cannot speak. She enjoys decapitating animals, gutting them, then stuffing them and swapping their heads. One of her creepiest creations was a rabbit head with a monkey’s body. Her obsession with rabbits gave her the nickname “Bunni”, which she’ll respond to no matter what.

He is a ruthless killer, and this unholy behavior lead to Alex accidentally breaking his mask. He went to the seventh king to see if he could get it fixed, but instead of helping him, the seventh king drew a smiley face on the mask and laughed.

Despite having a heavy mask concealing most of his powers, he is still able to see and speak. He often uses mind control and hypnosis to get others to do what he wants.
