combination of coat color and mane colors that I liked. From there, it was a matter of figuring out her talent,cm, and name. I searched online for ideas, but all bat ponies had a talent, name, and cm that related to the night sky or flying. If it was halloween themed pony, it was also obviously named so. I wanted something that was unique and clever. I thought of Fluttershy's animal talent (unusal for a pegasi it seems) and it reminded me of the bats in the Pixie Hollow series. They're both polite and quite. But I didn't wanted Autumn to be a bat pony version of Fluttershy so I made her talent more specific to the creatures of the night. I know using a moon and a bat in a bat pony's cm is cliche, but it fit with the talent. I tried several style of moons and bats, but I didn't like quite like it. It wasn't Halloweeny or spooky enough. I added the pumpkin for asthetic and that did the job.

As for the name, I thought of Pixie Hollow again. I had a character with Autumn in her name. But Autumn what? She needed a second part of her name that either fit with her cm or talent. Autumn Moon maybe? Good but not Halloweeny enough. Hmmm, Halloween, Pixie Hollow, Hollow Shades. You know, Halloween does kind of sound like Hollow Eve. But I didn't want to get rid of the Autumn name and Hollow Eve was clearly a Halloween inspired name. So I lenghtened Eve to Evening and went with Autumn Evening. For the name Hollow Eve to make sense, I made it so she was from Hollow Shades. And as part of the politeness of bats, its common say what colony you're from and then your name (because real life bats live in colonies). Or at least I'm going to pretend that that's a thing.

Backstory wise, her nickname comes from when she first met Magina Zina. Both of them were flying outside of town. Magina was trying to fly a broom and accidently crashed into Autumn. After making sure the other was alright, they introduced themselves. This was also Autumn's first meeting a non bat pony (since this was at night and other ponies weren't usually awake). She was understandable nervous and switched between politeness protocals (bat ponies say origin first then name, ponies say name then origin). She said,"Nice to meet you, I'm Hollow Shade's Evening. I mean I'm Hollow Eve. I mean my name is Autumn Evening and I'm from Hollow Shades".
She does goes by Hollow Eve when meeting other bat ponies, but both of girls think it's a good name to use during Nightmare Night.

She's best friends with Magina Zina. She has lots of animal friends, but no pet. Mainly because I havent decided what pet would be best.

As far the differences between her and Fluttershy:
she can understand noctural animals as well as ponies but can only get general meanings from diurnal animals, like "hungry" or "distress", which probably any pet owning pony can do.

She loves flying at night and can fly fast too. She has senitive hearing, but I assume that's a feature every bat pony has.

While she is shy and quite, she doesn't get spooked often. She will also be the common sense to Magina's wilder ideas.

And yes, I did use the same painting for the Halloween picture. I actually had this finished a few days before Halloween, and I knew I wouldn't be posting it until November. But i really liked how it came out and wanted to post it early, so I modified it a bit and used it for Halloween.
