You're art is very good! You've got drop shadows, you aren't afraid to use your shadows/darks and you have very nice highlights. Here are some suggestions that might help you improve.
1. Weighted line art. Take an eraser and 'shave' or taper your lines, especially on finer details like ruffled trims, ribbons, flower petals. Add more weight to your lines in some areas. This will give your lineart some nice depth too. 2. Try using different colors with your dark shading. You are using mostly greys right now, and you do a great job with them, but its dulling some of the softer colors. For an example, the next time you have a pink dress or hair, try shading with a red/violet. Or play with blues/violets/aquas to shade white!
And last, just some general advice and something that helps me...play, just play, do silly things, watch for happy accidents. And try to keep doing different things, you'll get more skills by changing it up. I hope that helps some!
You have a good foundation right now, keep up the good work!
Your style is great, but I think your humans need working on, I'm pretty sure it's the head proportions. The heads, for me, look a little too big [vertically, maybe, I think] for the shoulders. That and the shoulders are a little small [horizontally].
Seek out tutorials and general advice posts on places like deviantART, tumblr, and so forth. DeviantART is my personal favorite, but that could be because I kinda resent tumblr.
Read about anatomy, learning about how bodies move will help you with drawing any kinds of animals, humans included, lol. Especially humans.
As far as coloring goes, look up "color theory" on dA or tumblr or some other art gallery. There's a pretty good color theory post on here, the user @Birdy made it. It's in two parts, and both can be found in #btp2, Give it a look, it's very helpful!
Lastly, and perhaps the biggest one, just observe things in real life. Study objects, animals, and people. Like, look at your hand. Stretch it out, take note of how it looks. You'll notice it's made up of shapes, the main hand part is a square shape, the base of the thumb (where it attaches to the hand) is a rounded triangular shape, the fingers are like three rectangles attached to eachother.
--Basically, break body parts down into basic shapes. Doing so makes them easier to draw.
Good luck on your art and on improving! You actually improve a bit every time you draw something, you don't really notice it until you look at drawimgs that are a month old or more. :)
I need help too! Lol! But I suggest... Bright Colors/focus/emphasis on the subject in your picture: make the main attraction stick out from the background, other characters ect...

Your command of drawing bodies is great! Maybe head proportions need a tiny adjustment, but thats just a small change! >3<
