Here's Julian, Animal Crossing's cute unicorn as a G1 My little pony.
Unfortunatly I can't draw the modern mlp style, whenever I try the bodies always end up looking like the 80's ponies I grew up with.
Anyway, I tried to draw him like a big brother pony. I didn't know what to do with his cutiemark, so I just gave him some glitter. Julian loves glitter! (And plastic bottle caps. And trains. Would those things look good as a cutiemark? Maybe the caps?) :D

The Friendship is Magic style looks simple but its hard to mimic! They are like 50% head. Its especially hard on Colors! since if you pick the wrong colors for your lineart, its near impossible to change it later.
Bottlecaps and sparkles together would be cool! Maybe a big one on the bottlecap, surrounded by some little sparkles? Im not familiar with the older cartoons, but for the new series that would very much mimic their style of cutie mark.
