Edit: These are NOT Adopts
In the online comments for this post, will be a mass of information or as much off the top of my head as I can think of, for my species the Zeharu ( #BHZeharu)
From conception, in both forms, to birth/laying eggs to the first one hundred years of each variant. Or whatever I can think of :'D
#BHZeharuInfo
The Colors! Gallery moderators will look at it as soon as possible.

Royal Variant Zeharu
------------------------
Royals aren't typically born/created like most Zeharu, a random variant is usually selected (like natural selection) at birth, she'll receive a special, diamond shaped mark when she's born. This means that when she conceives and successfully goes to lay her first egg, she'll die. Her life will be drained from her and put into the single egg she'll lay, which will be a pure blooded royal, regardless of the variant who laid the royal.
Usually the active royals will sense when the egg is laid, like a 6th sense almost. And will be drawn out from wherever they might be, to find and retrieve this egg.
Royals had a curse placed upon them . So one egg would be laid every 3,000 years, but that curse has been broken now.(More to come later, on Zeharu Curses Lore)
When first laid, the egg won't have gold diamonds on it, but when it's ready to hatch, the diamonds will form and all a royal has to do is touch the egg to hatch it. Eiro was extremely lucky, royals have very low fertility rates, the lowest of all Zeharu. So her conceiving Roiyaru was a miracle/accident xD
Royal babies are only born with 2-3 hearts on their necks, 2-3 on their ribs (for both sides) and usually three beads on their streamers and tiny sensitive hearts on the ends. Royal Zeharu, when hatched, need to be blessed by the Creator, so they can live, he gives them the energy they need to stay alive as Royal babies are very frail. (Joseph struggled to hatch and was more than half dead when born, his ref will come soon).
A royal has a total of 20 hearts outside their body and one main one that connects inside their body. They use sunlight to power their breath attack and gain energy, only matured Royals can use their breath attack.
When they reach teenage years (around 50-52 years human), they'll have more beads and two more hearts on their neck and ribs. When they reach adulthood (100 human years) they've got all their beads and gold diamond hearts.

Water Variant Zeharu
------------------------
Water variants are conceived like most average Zeharu, depending on where they've been laid/where they hatch, it can affect their abilities and powers. They're also very fertile dragons.
Water variants have a 'sac' under their jaw, they can fill it with water and spew a powerful jet of water, capable of carving through thick ice like butter.
If laid in frigid water, the Zeharu will be able to produce more freezing cold blasts of water, but not any hot water.
If laid in warmer waters (nearer to deserts, volcanoes, etc...), the Zeharu will be able to blast scalding hot water, hot enough to melt someone's flesh off the bone in seconds.
If laid in luke warm waters/cool waters, they'll be able to use both ice cold water or scalding hot, but not quite to the degree of the two mentioned above.
Also ones born in colder climates tend to have a more snowy/white coloration and in hotter they tend to have more blackish, even dark red, colorations. Typically water variants are blue like you see with Laiken ( #GPLaiken).

Nature Variant Zeharu
------------------------
Nature variants are almost always female (97%) and almost always born completely blind (99.8%). They are decently fertile and their eggs hatch and mature the fastest.
Nature variants are also more likely to breed with other variants, it's almost rare to see a pure nature variant now.
The average Zeharu gestates an egg for 6 months, nature variants do it in 2-3 months, sometimes even less. And an average egg is typically incubated for 2-3 years, nature variants do it in 1 year.
If they conceive in their human forms, they have a 5-9 month pregnancy. Their babies are always born the healthiest out of every variant.
Nature variants learn to use their poisons at 30-40 years old (tween age) and learn to use their natural markings close to adulthood (80-100 years old). Most nature variants have an deep love for all life and desire to protect and nurture, they're the best healers because of this and because they have the greatest sense of smell.

Darkness Variant Zeharu
------------------------
Are known as extremely fluffy, but bitter Zeharu. They typically avoid others and are difficult to become mates with or even talk to, they have the lowest reproduction rate because of this. For a couple thousand years, some even wondered if they existed, because they were rarely ever seen.
But they do exist, not every Darkness variant is how they're described above (*cough*Zarkaryah*cough*). They are also extremely fluffy and soft in their Zeharu forms, even when newly born or mixed with other breeds, they're super soft and fluffy.
Their fluffy manes aren't for show either, they're great for sponging physical attacks, you'll even see baby Darkness variants/Darkness variant half breeds using their heads to block attacks, since when babies, they have more fluffy hair on their heads.
------------------------
Storm Variant Zeharu
------------------------
Storm Variants are also hard to reproduce with, due to their violent and extremely aggressive attitudes. These Zeharu love to fight, they have even been known, as babies and children to fight others to the death. It's why they have the highest death rate and lowest life expectancy.
Despite being super aggressive, they are the most intelligent of every Zeharu variant. Storm variants are known, when calm, to come up with brilliant solutions and have even invented some of the technology in Zyzaniah. Even from infancy, these Zeharu are quick and eager learners, some Storm variants, by 1 year old have been known to be running around and talking (babbling usually).
But their eagerness is what leads to competitiveness, Storm variants want to be the center of attention and hog the spotlight, typically they don't get it for long and that's when their tempers flare up.
By 5 years (human), they can breath and charge their own lightning. Most Storm variants will refuse to lay an egg or give birth until a thunderstorm rolls in, which can take days, weeks or even months. Zeharu are capable of going 5 months without birthing, even if their water has broken.

Time Variant Zeharu
------------------------
The smallest of every Zeharu in existence, these Zeharu also lay eggs by the hundreds. The most a time variant was thought to have laid was 1,000 eggs in one day, they do this easily because their eggs are usually the size of pebbles when laid and when they hatch, they're about the size of softball.
Their eggs are also extremely sticky when laid and the Mother will secrete more of this natural sticky substance while laying and after laying her eggs. The reason is because their eggs are easily crushed/trampled or eaten, so the sticky substance will allow them to stick their eggs to the bottoms of the floating islands in Zyzaniah (The Zeharu Homeworld) or in caves....or anywhere they can stick their eggs....
Time variants don't typically live long lives, most won't see their 200th birthday (Zeharu live to be 5,000 roughly). They also mature the slowest of all Zeharu, some think it's because they're so tiny, making their brains tiny, no one knows for sure.
Time variants are usually summoned by a powerful and loud roar, when this happens, they become dazed and confused. The reason is so bigger Zeharu can eat them and using their teleporting ability to go from the human world to Zyzaniah or vise versa.
Nico is the rarest time variant, because he's the oldest. He doesn't get dazed by loud roars, unless it's an Ancient, Jupiter or Saturn. He can freeze time, reverse it (make someone young, old and make someone old, young) and teleport, he can even teleport back in time or forward in time. Though he tires quickly.

Poison Variant Zeharu
------------------------
These Zeharu are nearly extinct, because of their habits of poisoning, tormenting and even eating other Zeharu (who are usually in their human forms (to be devoured) because Poison variants aren't that big). They're also not very fertile and can not cross breed with another variant, their natural toxins would kill the egg(s).
When they do lay eggs, they typically find a swamp and fill it with poison, once toxic enough, the female will lay her eggs in the murky water and won't return until they start to hatch. All the poison typically keeps the babies safe until she returns.

Soul Thief Zeharu
------------------------
An extremely rare species now, since Oblivion (The Ancient Guardian of the Underworld) hunts them down and mercilessly kills them /and/ Soul Thieves hate competition from their own variant, so they'll usually attack expectant mothers or crush their eggs.
Soul, the oldest soul-thief, is most well known for driving his own variant to extinction. He despises others like him and won't hesitate to trample eggs of his variant.
Soul-Thieves typically lay anywhere from 2-5 eggs, they do have a high conception rate but the longest pregnancy of all Zeharu. They gestate for 2 years and incubate for 7-8 years, so Mother's will /very/ wisely choose a place to lay eggs and will never tell others she's expecting.
She will have to feed each egg 100 souls over the course of incubating, by putting them into the orbs on the eggs, so the baby/babies will develop.
Babies are born with their streamers/beads embedded in their skins, over time, they drape out, by adulthood they'll have fully developed (check #FGNekana and #LSZurie to see).

Fire Variant Zeharu
------------------------
An aggressive Zeharu, usually, their eggs must be kept extremely warm. Typically fire variants will lay eggs by active volcanoes or even inside them, or lay them in blistering hot deserts and still incubate the eggs in these hot climates.
They are also very fertile Zeharu and usually have many, many babies over their lifetimes, making them the most common Zeharu, aside from the Nature variant. Even females will lay a lot of eggs.
It's impossible for humans to approach their eggs, if they lay in the human world, in Zyzaniah, fire variants are banned from the nesting grounds, because they've accidentally melted other variants eggs....which never ends well.
By 2 years of age (human years), they can breath little puff balls of fire and typically set fire to /everything/, even half breed fire variants are little pyromaniacs. It's why most other variants won't breed with a fire variant, they don't want the burns, or if they do breed, they're usually unaware of what will come.
By teenage years, 95% of fire variants love to fight and, of course, use fire to do so. They're typically feared by all but water and sky variants. Who likes to be burned after all?

Air Variant Zeharu
------------------------
Air are normally the sweetest variants and known as peacekeepers. They're decently fertility, for both sexes and aren't really known to breed with other variants (other than Air, duh).
A female will typically go into a fasting state when she lays her eggs, because air variant eggs have a habit of floating away! The eggs are light like balloons and will just take off and disappear into the sky if the Mother doesn't lay on them 24/7 or tie them down.
Even half breed eggs (Say fire and air) will still float away. When the babies hatch, they'll float too, Air variants are the best and fastest fliers. So Mothers will typically hold onto her baby/babies tail fluff or tie them to her, like balloons as she goes to do things.
By the time they reach their toddling stages (around 1-2 human years) they'll start learning to use their 'vents' to puff out air or try and turn invisible. Which drives their mother insane, you think your kids running away from you normally is hard? Trying having them turn invisible.
23 Oct, 2017, 9:34 pm
Earth Variant Zeharu
------------------------
Are the heaviest Zeharu in existence and have the toughest hides. Their eggs are heavy as well, weighing anywhere from 50lbs to 300lbs/egg, it all depends on the Mother during gestation, if she's healthy and eats a lot, her eggs will weigh more, if not, they'll weigh less. Even then, these eggs are bloody heavy.
Once a mother finds out she's expecting, she'll find herself craving obsidian during her gestation period. So when she lays her heavy eggs, they'll be protected in an extremely hard, black shell.
When it comes time to hatching, the babies usually take a week or more to hatch, since their egg is so hard and as a first meal, they'll typically eat all of their egg shell. To put less stress on the mother, since Earth variants have the highest maternal death rate. Their eggs/babies are known to get stuck and cause severe problems, usually death for the Mother. It's only because their eggs get so big and heavy, usually their birth canal isn't big enough to get them out, requiring intervention from nature variants.
If a baby successfully hatches, they'll have a ravenous appetite and it'll be Mom's job to feed them. Usually a mother will lose a good amount of her babies, because the babies can't eat gems on their own, since they have no teeth at birth to their first six months and can't chew the gems. The Mother will focus on who she thinks is healthiest and will let the others die, because she'll be too weak/tired to feed the others.
Keep in mind, some Zeharu can lay up to 30 eggs.

Nightmare Variant Zeharu
------------------------
These Zeharu are the most unpredictable and least desired mates of all Zeharu. Even though they can physically appear very beautiful/charming, their odd habits/behaviours will drive others away and most Nightmare variants don't give a damn.
But if a female does conceive, she'll have to avoid her mate and other Nightmares, even other females, because they'll try and cannibalize her and her eggs when she lays them. And she has to lay them on the Nightmare island, so she can feed off the fear and so can her developing babies.
Their eggs do, slightly, mature and hatch faster than other variants. But it's a very difficult time for a female Nightmare, as she'll go months, even years, without sleep. While she protects her babies.
Once born, if lucky enough (depending on how you might see it), the babies will instinctively cling to their Mother's mane and they'll be able to safely hide in there, hiding their scents from other Nightmares/predators, so their Mother can rest, finally.

Ice Variant Zeharu
------------------------
Ice variant's have a low fertility rate, but not too bad (nothing close to royals). They usually lay their eggs in frigid climates, in ice caves they've spent their gestation period carving out.
A mother will also leave her eggs for great periods of time, sometimes until the eggs start hatching, since she doesn't need to keep them warm. Ice variants are also carefree and calm Zeharu, they don't worry unless a fire variant gets too close.
Some have also laid their eggs in ice cold water, to assure extra...coldness (?). But she'll have to return before they hatch so they don't drown.
Ice variants can breath frigid blasts of air from their mouths and 'scars' on their sides, from the moment they hatch. It gets colder and colder, the older the ice variant gets. They can form ice over their body and claws especially as weapons, even as kids. Though when they're kids, they typically use their ice powers to mess with others (make them slip down a hill or into a wall) or even their own Mothers, usually not, since the Mother will get them back twice as bad.
------------------------
------------------------
Zeharu don't get to really chose, they'll know they're pregnant when they can't shift to their human or dragon form, whichever they conceived in.
They'll be stuck because their body will immediately decide, when sperm meets and fertilizes egg, that they will grow a baby in them, like humans do or their body will start to form their young in an egg, sending signals to their brain that they can't shift or the stress of shifting will terminate the baby.
For ease, a lot of females prefer their Zeharu form, their true form is the best....but they tend to have more than one baby in that form, they could end up laying just one egg or fifteen eggs or the most a Zeharu ever laid was thirty eggs. In their true form, they only carry the eggs for 6 months, but they take a max of three years to hatch and need constant protection and warmth, depending on the variant, most would need to keep them warm since a lot are not ice variants.
In their human form, which is what Eiro chose for Roiyaru. A Zeharu typically experiences more pleasure when conceiving. But they'll be pregnant for two whole years and will typically carry one, two or three babies at most. But they're an easy target for aggressive males, if they have anyone who likes them and is vying for their attention, they might not like seeing that female/A female pregnant with another's baby and said female wouldn't have a way to defend herself, her mate/Father of the offspring will be left to protect her.
Unless she a Nightmare variant, she screwed.

I thought these were egg adopts for a second and I got really exited. But wow, what you wrote was amazing! The thing I love about Zeharu and all your other species is how detailed you make their lore, it shows how much thought you really put in them. I can really imagine Zeharu being a real animal with all of the information you've given for them.
24 Oct, 2017, 12:53 am
Guys this isn't an adopt
let the artist breathe jeeeze
