Near the southern edge of the city, Ivy crouched behind a crumbled stone wall and held her breath as a pack of werewolves thundered by. When they had passed, she slowly exhaled and allowed herself a smile of triumph. This was easy. All she had to do was find out where this Sargon guy's base was. She still hadn't actually decided what she was going to do, but she knew she'd think of something clever in time.

Crowley jerked his head up and bared his teeth at Pythia as she started cleaning his wounds. The burn of the antiseptic wasn't really that bad to him, but he was in a mood to complain. 'Hey, be careful!' he exclaimed. 'I thought you were here to heal me, not make it worse.'

Sheldon had been walking in silence for what felt like an eternity when he suddenly stopped, peering at something on the horizon. Darkness was beginning to fall as the sun dipped below the hills, and he had to squint against the bright glare as he pointed out the silhouetted shape that lay ahead.

'Tochi, uhm,' he murmured, 'is that... a village?'

"A village?" Tochi repeated, catching up with Sheldon and peering hopefully at what seemed to be a village. "Well, there's only one way to find out. Let's go there."

{Jeremiah continued on his way towards the city. About halfway, he stops to prepare himself for entering the city. he takes off his hat and trenchcoat, and stashes them in a hollow tree. He then takes a bottle from the stuff Dianne gave him. Taking out the cork, he applies the fluid contained within lavishly to himself. After that, he stashes the bottle in the tree and puts on a dark jacket (stolen from Armin's wardrobe XD) and a wool beanie to hide his hair. //Now I smell like a werewolf and I don't completely look like myself. If I can just avoid Sargon himself, I should just blend right in when I enter the city.// With that, Jerry continues on towards Shacklestone.}

Mortikai shrugs slightly, putting his hands behind his back as he's lead down the stairs.

{Pythia does not slow in her work when Crowley begins to complain.}"If I don't do this, you will die of infection. ShackleStone is a filthy city. I wouldn't be surprised if the plague were to suddenly break out here, on top of everything else..."

He nodded, looking faintly worried, but set off again at a surprisingly brisk walk. Maybe it was the promise of civilisation, of a place to stay that wasn't overrun with monsters, that made him more eager. 'I just hope nothing horrible is happening HERE as well...' he mumbled.

Ana said nothing, but led Morty down another flight of stairs and into a small room. It was quite dark, being lit only with a single lamp sitting on a dusty cabinet, and apart from that the only furniture was a chair and a narrow bed. There were no windows.

'Make yourself at home,' she said with a mocking curtsey. 'I'm sure his Lordship will summon you for a chat soon enough.'

'I don't die of infection,' Crowley sneered. 'That's for stupid weak people like you. I bet you wouldn't survive a minute if YOU were attacked by giant zombie things.'

"I'm sure it'll be fine," Tochi said, while on the inside, she couldn't help thinking that it /would/ be quite likely for Shacklestone's attackers to also target this village, if any humans lived there.

'Well, I'm SURE it'll be fine,' added Sheldon, not sounding all that sure. 'I mean, it's very LIKELY that it'll be fine, but I suppose there's a chance that...'

He trailee off into indiscernible muttering, stuffing his hands into his pockets. After a moment he seemed to brighten slightly.

'It's definitely a village. I - I think it might be called Riverside.'

{Pythia just rolls her eyes at Crowley and finishes cleaning his wounds}"Typical narcissism. You might think you're the biggest hot shot on the planet, but if you were even half of what you're hyping yourself up to be, you would have vanquished that necromancer without sustaining so much as a single scratch. Now lie back so I can remove the bone fragments from your chest." {Around this time, Vitis walks in with a beer in hand. He pulls up a chair, cackling all the while}"Ooooh, she just called you out, bro! Tell ya what, After you're good to go, lets go find La Bruja ad you two can have a rematch!"

Tochi gave a thoughtful hum. "Riverside... I've heard of that place. My parents took me there a couple of times when I was very young, to visit my grandparents. Then... some sort of disagreement happened, and my parents wouldn't take me to the village anymore."

"Honestly, looks better than wherever it was I was staying at."
He mumbles, walking into the room while turning to get a good layout of it.
"Could've left me a window, I heard that the sunset falling over a ransacked city is quite beautiful."
He says while looking back at her, grinning slightly.

Toby's tail wags as he rubs his head against Jed, seeming okay.
Keenan takes a quick head count, making sure everyone was there, then started off walking again.
"We need to keep moving. It'll be dark soon."
Ango looks back at Toby for a moment, who gives her a slight nod, then jogs to catch up with him.
"So, we're your friends now, huh?"
"I think I've suffered with yous enough to consider yous as such."

Crowley opens his mouth to snarl a rude response at Pythia, but calms down a little when Vitis walks in. 'Hey, where'd you get that drink? And where's mine?' he complained, reluctantly obeying the healer's command and lying down.

Jed stayed close to Toby, his tail wagging. He sniffed the air. He could still smell the werewolves, but there didn't seem to be anything else nearby.

'R-really?' exclaimed Sheldon. Then he spoke up timidly. 'I've... I've never left the city in my whole life. I wasn't born there, but my mum and dad never exactly told me WHERE I was born. And I never asked them. And I suppose I'll never be able to now.' He walked on in silence, chewing his thumb.

'Don't be stupid. You could escape through a window,' snapped Ana dismissively. 'Of course, you'd break both your legs, but I'm not going to risk it.' She marched out of the room and shut the door, ordering a guard to stand in front of it. The sound of a lock clicking into place could be heard, and then nothing.

"Maybe you will, if we ever get back into the city," sad Tochi. "There's a chance your mum and dad are still, well... still alive."
She felt a pang of sadness at the thought of never seeing her parents again.

(Might be slow, I'm multitasking five different things. XD)

{Vitis was about to answer when Pythia cut him off.}"You can't drink now! When the sword, or whatever it was, came through your sternum, it ruptured your esophagus! If you drink, it's all just going to come out of this hole. Now, what I'm about to do might feel a bit weird, But I'm going to have to ask you not to move." {Pythia then raises her hand, and a pillar of water stands out of her box of supplies. She then flicks her finger in Crowley's direction, and it proceeds to enter his chest cavity and gently envelop his organs.}

'What are the chances of that,' said Sheldon bitterly. 'Oh, they've just been trapped in a city filled with raving murdering lunatics all this time, I'm sure they'll be COMPLETELY unharmed!'

He immediately went quiet again and hunched his shoulders, seeming to regret snapping at Tochi.

'The heII?' Crowley said, staring down at himself, then up at Pythia, then back again. 'Wow. OK. So you can do water magic-y stuff. That's cool, I guess.' It DID feel peculiar, but it didn't hurt. He thought about making a snarky comment, but for once decided to keep his mouth shut and see what she was going to do.

"Maybe they escaped not long after we did," Tochi pointed out quietly, not seeming upset that he'd snapped at her. "We could even meet up with them once we get to the village. You never know,"

He still looked a bit guilty, and answered quietly. 'Maybe...' Then he raised his head to look at the village ahead of them.

It was a beautiful sight in the glow of sundown. Riverside was actually more like a small town in size, but had a very village-y look to it. Built near the edge of the forest, it lay in a lonely spot between the hills. There were no large roads or tall buildings. Around the village lay acres of farmland and fields, full of crops and grazing animals.

{Pythia didn't answer, as she was clearly concentrating. She then motions her hand first in a rotating fashion, then retracts her hand. The water pulls the bone fragments, including the most shattered rib from Crowley's tissues, then pulls them out of his chest.(This would likely cause severe pain) A red colored mass of water exits his chest cavity and stays suspended in the air. within it, all the bone fragments can be clearly seen.}"Now, I hope that didn't hurt too much..."

(Yeah, I'm going to post The Illusionist and write up his facts now. That way, when night falls completely, he'll be ready to rock.)

"Just how I remember it..." Tochi breathed, staring at the town with a look of excitement of her face.
For a moment, she stopped thinking about Shacklestone and let her head fill with memories of her little six-year-old self walking down the streets, holding her mother's hand and looking around at all the little shops.
Too deep in thought to notice where she was heading, she ended up walking into Sheldon. "Oh - sorry, Sheld."

He flinched when she bumped into him, still a bit jumpy from everything that had happened to them recently. 'N-no problem,' he said, giving her the tiniest hint of a smile. 'So, shall we just... walk in?' He made a vague waving gesture in the direction of the village.

'If you've been here before, maybe you could... find a place we can sleep? Like an inn or something?' he added tentatively.

Crowley let out an involuntary yell and almost sat bolt upright, but gripped the edges of the bed and managed to keep himself still. Once she had finished, he let out his breath in a slow, pained exhalation. 'Gee, don't warn me before you do that or anything,' he said sarcastically.

Toby looks back at Thorn and Emilia, making a very quiet barking noise at them.
"Hey, I don't think it's too far now. With any luck we can stay the night!"
Ango says with a bit of enthusiasm, a slight hop in her step.
"Well, I'd imagine that there'd be a lot of spare beds."
"Hey, don't be like that! They all made it out, I know they did. And we will too!"

He waits a few moments after the door closes, then takes off his hat and coat and unties his bowtie, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Hm...I may be a cat but from this height you might be right. Guess there's nothing for it but to just wait it out..."

With Morty safely in his new room, Anastasia hastened back up the stairs to the topmost room of the building. The door was open when she arrived, and the Count was clearly waiting for her. His face was devoid of expression, his white hair gleaming in the dim light coming through the windows.

'Anastasia. You had something to tell me?'

She nodded eagerly. 'Yes, my Lord. You see, while I was out looking for that man, I saw something strange... I didn't intervene, of course, because that would have taken time out of the orders you had given me, but I think this is something you'll want to know.'

He inclined his head, signalling her to continue.

'There was a woman,' said Ana in a rush. 'She was using some kind of water magic to collect all the HUMAN corpses -' here, she shuddered with disgust - 'and buried them all in a big hole thingy. And then she planted a strange magical tree over the bodies. I think it destroyed them.'

{Pythia just smirks at Crowley.}"I'm sorry, I thought you were so //special// that pain didn't apply to you. Was I wrong?" {Vitis bust out laughing, nearly choking on his drink.} Ahahaha! burn!"
Pythia:"Now is the easy part. Just relax, and I'l heal your wounds."

Crowley glared at them. 'You both suck,' he grumbled. 'Hurry up and do it, I wanna be healed properly so I can go kick the crap out of some people.' He thought for a few seconds, then added, 'And have a drink.'

Tochi nodded quickly. "Sure, I'm pretty certain I remember a place I stayed in for a whenever I came here."

Thorn trotted after the group, still in her cat form. A paw detatched from her leg and floated away, possibly to find something.

{Pythia just gazes upon Crowley with disbelief.}"Really....You nearly got killed by a necromancer and your first thought is to go pick more fights? I take it no one really cared about what happened to you growing up, and so you associate no value to your own life now." {Pythia shakes her head in disapproval and presses Crowley's rib cage back together. Concentrating hard, she begins to heal him. His more minor wound heal nearly instantly, but his rib cage is taking more time to mend, as new bone begins to crystalize, bridging the gap where the hole once was.}

'I hope it's still there, then,' mumbled Sheldon, remembering how quickly buildings in the city could be demolished only to be replaced with brand-new ones. He knew Tochi hadn't been here in a while. He watched his feet for a few moments, then looked up again as the village gates drew near; they were open, and the houses beyond looked welcoming.

Crowley shrugged, as best as he could while lying down. 'Don't know, don't care,' he said. 'I left my parents when I was younger. They made it pretty clear they weren't interested in me anymore.' For an instant, his face twitched with some distant, half-forgotten emotion. Then he quickly changed the subject. 'Hey, Vitis, what d'you wanna do after this?'

{Pythia looks up for a moment, picking up on how quickly Crowley changed the subject. Vitis, on the other hand, didn't seem aware of it.}
Vitis:"I dunno. Find a bar that hasn't been completely trashed, have a few rounds. How 'bout you?"

Sargon listened without interruption while Ana told him of the strange woman she'd seen. 'So she is one of our own, who is not afraid to show her support for the humans openly,' he said after she had finished. 'I am not surprised... not all Magical Beings care about their own lives enough to understand that the human race is a threat to us.'

He mused for a while, ignoring Ana, who stood to attention as she awaited his next orders.

'Do not kill her,' he said. 'Try to reason with her. Explain why we are doing what we are. However... be sure to tell her that if she destroys anything else belonging to me, I will take action personally. Now go and find her.'

'Sir! Yes, sir!' Ana exclaimed, shifting into her dragon form and hurtling out of the room.

Crowley grinned. 'Same. How about a little drinking contest?' he said, which he realised deep down was a terrible suggestion to make, because he knew how awful his alcohol tolerance was. Still, it wouldn't stop him trying! 'And if we see anyone around on the way, maybe we can fight them.'

The man standing guard outside Morty's room suddenly hammered loudly on the door. 'Hey! Are you talking to yourself in there?' he shouted through the wood.

"If it isn't, well... we'll find somewhere," Tochi said optimistically, entering the town and looking around and trying to spot any buildings she remembered. From what she could see, not much had changed.
"OK, should be in this direction," she told Sheldon, setting off down the street at a quick pace.

(Oh oh oh oh, can Ana meet Dianne now?)

'I wonder where Sargon's base is?' Ivy mumbled to herself out loud as she stole through the darkening city streets, feeling like a criminal. Suddenly, she thought of something she could do that wouldn't be too dangerous. She could search for her parents! If they were still alive, she wanted to get them out as fast as possible. //I'm sure that man Armin will let them stay in his house with me, however much of a rude snob he is,// she thought.

'O-OK,' said Sheldon a little uncertainly, glancing around as he followed her. The place was quiet - which was understandable, seeing as it was almost night-time, but there were still a few people walking around the village.

One or two of them nodded politely as they passed, and he tried to relax. //Come on, nobody's going to KNOW you're a - a werewolf,// he thought, angry with himself for being so nervous.

(Aggron - sure!)

Anastasia stepped out of the building and immediately took to the air, flying slowly. She wasn't lazy, but she was in no hurry, due to her confidence that she could find Pythia again wherever she might be.

{Meanwhile, Jerry just arrives at the city gates. Making sure the coast was clear, he enters the city. //Now, where could Ivy have gone? I didn't see any trace of her out in the forest, she must have gone here.//}

Ango soon runs ahead, recognising the land around them despite the destruction.
"This way!"
"Hold on!"
The lion shifter calls after her, running to make sure there wasn't any trouble ahead.

{At the bar where she had spoke with Armin the night before, Dianne sits at an outdoor table. The place was trashed, but she managed to find a bottle of wine that survived. Before she came here, she had made the preparations necessary to carry out Jeremiah's plan. All she needed now was that list. However, her role to play in Jerry's schemes was not what she was concerned with now. Now, she was reflecting on the life she led. She sat in a slumped posture, a wine glass in one hand and her daughter's locket in the other. Gazing mournfully at it, Dianne quietly contemplated how her life might have been different if she had never lost Mira and turned to necromancy. To interrupt her self-reflection, however, one of the spirits under her command speaks up.}
Magnus:"So, here we are, ready to go in taking out a tyrant. Believe me, Dianne, this is the right thing to do."
{Dianne speaks in a disinterested, almost depressed tone, her rage fully dissipated.}"Haven't I suffered enough, Magnus? It's bad enough that I know how to the terrible things acts of necromancy, but now I have to use them to help an overly pious mortal avenge his city? I mind as well be back with Dolorus, hurting innocent people for some twisted sense of justice."
Magnus:"Dolorus was a monster. And you're not helping Jerry //avenge// his city, you're helping him defeat Sargon, like how you helped me kill Dolorus."

Tochi kept walking for a couple of minutes until she halted outside a small building. "This is the spot where the inn SHOULD be." Tochi sighed, examining the red-brick house. "But I suppose it's gone now. Well," she looked back at Sheldon, "No worries. I know another place we can go."

(It's bad enough that I know how to do the terrible acts of necromancy....

'Wh-what if that's gone too?' Sheldon asked. He kept throwing uneasy glances over his shoulder at a spot some twenty feet away, where a small group of boys around 18 or 19 were lingering underneath a streetlamp, laughing raucously and clearly drunk.

"Trust me, it won't be gone," Tochi said with a smile. After giving the boys a slightly disapproving look, she started walking again. "It's not too far from here..."

Sheldon tagged along silently. He didn't understand how she could be so completely sure that whatever this place was hadn't disappeared, but knew he couldn't doubt her. He'd never known her to be wrong about anything important before. In the direction Tochi was leading him, they quickly left the boys behind and the village was peaceful once more.

After another ten minutes of walking, they found themselves outside an old house. The doors and windows were small and low down.
Tochi went over to the house and knocked on the door. "Now we wait," she said simply. "Give them a second, I don't imagine they get a lot of visitors aside from the postman."

'Wait for WHO? Who is "them"?' Sheldon asked, staring at the little door as if he expected a firecracker to come bursting out of it. He edged behind Tochi, almost like he was trying to hide behind her. But, being a little taller than her, it didn't really work.

Toby turns to softly bark at Thorn and Emilia again, then bounds after Jed and the other two.
Emilia nods absentmindedly, following along at the same pace.

{Vitis grins widely at Crowley.}"Aye, let's do that!"
{Pythia just shakes her head disapprovingly. She then stands up, as she had finished her work. there were now patches of pink, featherless skin everywhere there used to be a wound.}"There, good as new. It'll take some time for your feathers to grow back, but that shouldn't be too big of a problem. Also, you ought to take it easy for a while. You've lost a lot of blood, so you might feel lightheaded for a little bit."

A few seconds later, the door suddenly swung open and an elderly couple stood on the doorstep, staring at them curiously. The man took off his lopsided glasses and wiped them on the sleeve of his checkered jacket, surveying Tochi and Sheldon. "Are you two here to sell us something?" He asked, and the woman rolled her eyes and shoved her husband aside. "Don't be silly, Henry, that's our granddaughter!"
Tochi grinned. "Hey, Grandma. Long time no see."

'Nah, I'm just fiiiiine,' said Crowley, slowly sitting upright on top of his bed. He felt a little wave of vertigo, but nothing too serious. He contemplated if he was well enough to go out yet. Probably not, but he would never admit that to Vitis.

Suddenly he glanced out the window, seeing it was very close to night-time now. 'Huh, I think it might be late enough for me to do... this!' With a grunt of effort he shifted into his human form and sat more comfortably on the edge of the bed.

Thorn walked beside Emilia. She felt like she should try to make conversation, but nothing was coming to mind.

Startled, Sheldon's eyes flickered between the two strange people, and then widened slightly at Tochi's greeting to them. 'Y-you have grandparents?' he blurted out. 'I don't recall you mentioning that before.'

He looked up warily at the old couple and wondered how he should say hello. Most of the elderly people HE knew were sticklers for manners. They might shout at him if he accidentally said something impolite.

{Pythia, now ignoring Crowley and Vitis, cleans up her supplies, and walks out of the room to put them away. Vitis stays and scrutinizes Crowley.}"So, how do you feel? Can you tell you're missin' a rib?"

"I sure do," Tochi said, then as if she'd read his mind, she whispered, "Don't worry about your manners. Just act like you usually do."
"Oh, who's that?" Tochi's grandma asked in a friendly manner, gazing at Sheldon. The granddad, whose name was apparently Henry, announced, "He looks like a fine lad. I shall call him Ginger Biscuit."

'Uhhh...' Crowley moved experimentally, and when he felt nothing unusual, put a hand to the side of his chest and felt the area. 'Well, I can tell it's missing, but it doesn't hurt or anything.' He let his hand fall and looked curiously at Vitis. 'Anyway, are you ever gonna tell me more about yourself?'

{Vitis assumes a more open posture.}"Sure! What do you want to know?"

Sheldon opened his mouth to introduce himself. Whatever he'd been about to say vanished from his mind when he heard what Henry just said. 'Uhm...' he stammered. Then he turned to Tochi's grandma instead. 'Th-the name is... that is... um, my name's Sheldon,' he said all in a rush. 'Sheldon Fenwick.'

'Weeeeell... you're obviously a criminal like me,' said Crowley. 'How did it happen? I mean, with me, I just needed to steal to stay alive. I can't get a job.' He didn't mention that he'd also stolen a lot more besides what he'd needed, just because he'd wanted to.

"Pleased to meet you, Sheldon," the grandma said. "I'm Mrs Smith. Or Caroline, if you prefer." she smiled a distinctly Tochi-like smile and headed inside. "Come in, make yourselves at home. And you, Henry," she added. "Don't just stand in the doorway."

{Dianne scowls. She knew that this conversation was eventually going to shift to Jerry and his plans, so Dianne begins to speak in her native tongue, the same language she uses to command her draugrs.}"<I only helped you because I felt partly responsible for helping him all those years!>"
{Magnus, on the other hand, figured no one could hear him anyway, so he kept speaking in common tongue.}
Magnus:"You helped me because Lucci asked you to. And now, you're helping Jerry /because Lucci asked you to/. How is this different?"
{Dianne just snorts at magnus and turns back to her drink.}

Sheldon hesitated, then carefully followed the old lady into the front hallway. He looked back quickly as he entered, to make sure Tochi was behind him. As nice as these people seemed to be, he didn't like going into strangers' houses, especially not alone.

{Vitis takes a sip of his beer as he thinks.}"Well, first things first, we haven't been properly introduced. My name is Vitis, and I was kinda always like this. It used to be that I stole things to survive, given that I had no parents to begin with, but after a while, the stealing got fun. I started challenging myself with more and more elaborate heists. Now, I steal and kill and all that stuff, not because I need to anymore, just 'cause it's fun. How about you, Crow-boy? How'd you get into this game?"

Crowley rested his chin on his hand and stared thoughtfully into space. 'Well, like I said before, I left my parents when I was little,' he said. 'Not REALLY little, but I was still young enough that I couldn't get my own place. I was homeless for a few years, living off the streets. I got good at surviving. I learned to steal from the richest people in the city, get past the best security systems - all so I could eat.' He gave a short, cackling laugh. 'Eventually I saved up enough to get an apartment, but I guess I could have found a job if I really tried, but what's the fun in that? Like you, I kept on thieving 'cuz I liked it. Sometimes I kill too.'

Tochi followed Sheldon and Henry shut the door behind them. Caroline lead them into a cosy living room with light greyish-blue walls, a soft dark green carpet and a brown sofa in front of a coffee table and a TV. Nothing really matched in colour.
"Would you two like something to drink?" Caroline asked, turning back to face Tochi and Sheldon.
"Tea, please," Tochi replied.
