Okay! I'm back! ^0^ So? What do you want to be the setting for this roleplay? Day or Night? Outside or Inside? Oh yeah, and which country? And furthermore, would you like me to do the opening post? Or do you want to? :D
Oh whoops, I didn't expect you to comment early xD
So let's see, I'm not too familiar with the countries, so I'll leave that up to you. Daytime is fine. And the setting? Idk, maybe it would be helpful to know each others characters a bit more?
He is of a noble background and is often traveling by ferry to nearby coastal villages of the neighboring kingdoms for gourmet supplies to please his master.
Lumen is extremely kind to those who are non hostile and polite. But, behind his kindness and warm smile lies a dark past with several lurking skeletons just waiting to leap from the closest xD In a nutshell, his Combat skills are worthy of the job of protecting a royal ^0^
Ah I see. Haha they're actually kinda like polar opposites xD Sheah is a real ruffian. She's loud, roudy, and an extremely free spirit. But she can be courteous and kind, and always stocking up on useful items in case she needs to help someone with whatever possible outcome. Maybe they just meet in a town? They could be looking at the same ingredient for sale or something
I see! Polar opposites in personality but alike in their kind deeds! This is going to be great! ^0^
Sounds good to me! It could be a coastal town somewhere along the Eastern edge of the Iclios continent! :D
Last two questions I swear xD
Should this be taking place after the events of most recent story chapter? (Thus, inclement weather never ending gray skies) And also, would you like me to do the opening post? Or do you want to? :D
The day was young. Seagulls could be seen overhead scouring the sandy shore that rested below the quaint little town of Shoal Veil. As far as villages go it was not one of extreme luster. But its constant visitors of traders and sea-goers kept it supplied better than some of the more unfortunate villages further inland. So although their lifestyle may not be luxurious or even comfortable, it was significantly better than the frugal and dangerous lifestyle the inner towns of iclios had to cope with. The waves ebbed back and forth making a soothing hiss on the sand as Lumen disembarked a small shipping vessel no bigger than 3 horses. He bowed in thanks to the skipper as he departed into the small village.
"So this is Shore Veil......It is much more bright here.....Less foreboding."
Lumen just arrived at the market place. It was not packed like some would imagine, but more of busy. Full of people who had what looked to be distinguished goals on finding said important items of interest. Shore Veil offered superior quality items compared to its neighboring ports and villages.
At the same time, a brig pulled into the harbor, quickly releasing it's passengers to port. Sheah strode down the ramp and up the pier, eagerly taking in the bustling little town. It may not have been much, but her eyes had been starved for land.
Some people in the streets looked the swashbuckler with suspicious eyes, but she ignored them, as she made her way towards the market.
"It's been so long since I've had anything that isn't those dry biscuits," she muttered to herself, "let's see if I can't find some good ingredients."
Lumen had just finished inspecting the contents of a Herbal stand. He regrettably did not find what he was looking for at that stand, so he walked to the next stand with herbs. Once again, the herb he was looking for was nowhere to be found. So he continued walking down the rows of merchant stands in search of his desired ingredient.
"No.....Not there......Hmmmm.....Not there either...."
Whispering to himself as he scanned, he saw a woman. She had a sea fairing attire on so he assumed she was a local trader. His feet barely disturbed the floor as he walked over to the stranger.
"Ah, pardon me ma'am, but I was wondering if you could help me out?...."
Lumen bowed in greeting to the woman as he formed his question.
(I did actually xD Since there are so many unnamed towns on all the continents, people often give them names to add a flare of character to them. I like doing this because it helps me visualized the place I'm writing about. If that makes sense xD)
Sheah turned at the sound of the stranger's voice, and couldn't help but feel surprised at his behavior. She didn't think she'd meet such a polite and refined looking person in a place like this, much less be approached by him, looking the way she did, pirate getup and all.
Nonetheless, she was eager to help with whatever he was about to ask. "Yes? What is it?"
Lumen was happy to know that the person he had asked was not hostile toward his question. Since in the past he has had some negative responses to his friendly demeanor in such rough times. So forthright he presented his question in full, since the woman he spoke to seemed the reasonable sort.
"Well you see, I am in search of a particular herbal seasoning. It is known commonly as Briartail. And its whereabouts in the market seem to be eluding me.....Do you perhaps know where to find it either here in the marketplace or in the wild?....For either will do."
(Oh! That's how I am with naming characters! My weakness is character names! I will spend hours brooding myopically on one characters name and never seem to get one I like :-;)
She gave him a light smile, the sort that was second nature to her when talking to a new person. "Well, this is my first time in this here town," she said regretfully. "But I know my way around a market. I came here to trade some things, including spices. Maybe I can come across what you're lookin for?" She patted her satchel, which was full to bursting with who knows what.
Lumen bowed his head in thanks to the woman. He was glad she was willing to lend him a hand. For truthfully, the marketplaces of Iclios were fairly different compared to Citrine's. So he was not nearly as adept at navigating them as one who frequented the Iclios sea.
"Thank you. I sincerely grateful for your assistance."
Lumen suddenly realized he had not yet introduced himself. Quickly correcting his mistake, he reiterated his earlier bow of greeting and introduced himself
"Oh my, forgive my manners. I am Lumen Candeo. It is a pleasure to meet you."
She gave him a hearty laugh, and patted his shoulder. "Don't you worry too much about manners!" She pointed at herself with her thumb in introduction. "My name's Sheah. Pleasure's all mine."
She turned on her heels, and waved him forward. "Now c'mon, I suspect the merchants you're lookin for are a ways down here. The highest quality herbs are usually held away from the seafood."
Lumen was quickly reassured by Sheah's reply and he nodded in acknowledgement. His smile strengthened by her friendly attitude, Lumen spoke.
"Nice to meet you Sheah. I am fortunate to have met someone willing to assist me like you do now. I have found myself commonly ignored or brushed by the locals."
Lumen obeyed and followed as he heard the advice Sheah had just given him. It was logical that herb merchants would want to keep their fine harvest safe.
"Ah yes! You are right! It is logical to presume that the Herb Merchants want to keep their herbal spices safe from cross contamination."
"Definitely," she agreed. "And don't hold the folks around here too accountable. It's nothing personal on their part," She muttered her reassurance quickly without further explanation, before stoppint at a particular stall, that stocked a variety of vegetables and dried herbs up for sale.
"Here we are," She said, pulling out some small pouches from her bag. "See anything familiar Lumen?"
Following close behind Sheah, Lumen's feet made the slightest noises on the ground. Barely noticeable if not readibly known someone was there.
"Do not worry, I will not. I understand that their probably busy with something. As it were, their lives are complicated even without a strangers problems. So I hold no ill to them for that."
Lumen's robes billowed then fell still as they reached the agrarian stall. His eyes scanned it mercilessly as he searched for BriarTail.
"Hmmmm?......Not yet......"
Lumen eventually spotted the unmistakable appearance of BriarTail. Its blue-ish gray coloring with a long spiny exterior. It resembled that of asparagus only with a pine cone motife.
The merchant behind the stand caught sight of what Lumen pointed out, and jumped to make a sale. "Ah, fine choice, my friend," he praised in a chipper voice, "Quite a decadent rarity, that particular herb. You'd find it normally for anywhere around 300 gold pieces at a normal shop, but today, I'll give it to you for just ten."
Sheah eyed the spice, and raised an eyebrow at the man. "Gold pieces? For that? But it isn't rare at all!"
Lumen smiled calmly at the merchant as he willingly retrieved his coin purse from the inner pouch of his robes.
"Indeed it is. It can only be cultivated here in the warm envirement of Iclios. And it is rather susceptible to root rot and Dry Blight."
Lumen chuckled to himself internally at the exorbitant price offered by the merchant. He knew it was overpriced, but Lumen being passive in nature decided to roll with it. Retrieving 10 gold pieces from his coin purse.
"Ten you said? Is that for 5 stocks of Briartail? Or just one?"
Sheah's expression darkened, as she put her hand on Lemus' to stop him from paying for the scam. "You could have just told me what it looked like," she said, pulling out another pouch from her bag, revealing the very same herb within its contents, "In my village, we just called it root ore. It's all yours if you want."
The shopkeep sneered at her, his face contorting with anger. "How dare you try to pirate off your unlicensed products at my store? If you give that to him, you can forget about doing any business with me!"
Lumen lowered his head in thanks to Sheah. But continued to pull the gold from his purse.
"You are too kind Sheah, thank you very much for your offer, but I am well aware of the price gouge. But most of the people here have families and are just trying to make a living. Furthermore, I would hate for you to lose a client just over a stranger like me. Please do not worry."
Lumen smiled reassuringly to Sheah. His pink eyes closed as he did so.
She remained silent for a moment, taking in his words, while simultaneously trying to ignore the smug con artist across the countet from her.
Finally, she sighed, and crossed her arms. "You're a bit too nice for your own good, Lumen. But very well. Just don't let it be the death of you someday."
(And sure! No problemo! I'm pretty sure Monday is free for me! It usually a pretty chill day! ^0^ And aye, my weekend is pretty full now too actually so Monday is perfect xD)
(Yeah! See you then! Have a good one! And thanks for the superb roleplay! It is truly an honor to roleplay with you! I can not wait to do this again! >3<)
((Aye! I can make it around that time! I am in Georgia, so I am EST. I can just assimilate the time zones to find the closest equivalent to 4-5 PT ^0^))
Sheah shrugged, unsure, but impressed. "You sure are well adjusted. But I guess I can relate," She gave a chuckle, but no explanation. "So, where are you heading?"
Lumen held the Briartail in his right forearm. He lowered his head bashfully to the praise.
"Ah, you are too kind. Believe it or not, I was not always this way. But yes, you and I are very much alike actually. I just hope you do not have as troubled of a past as my own"
Lumen adjusted his hair so that it sat behind his shoulders again before replying.
"Well, I will be looking for a few more ingredients before checking into an Inn. I will be here for a few days practicing cooking a specific dish."
"That is pretty hard to believe," She said, "But let's try to keep it from turning into a contest," she joked, uncertain of how lightly to take the situation. "Anyways," she shook the thought from her head, "Do you mind if I accompany you? I myself need to find an inn, but they usually turn me away if I'm alone... It's probably my fault for dressing like a scallywag, of course..." She sheepishly scratched her head, embarrassed to admit it.
Chuckling aloud, Lumen looked up and down the line of shop stands. Not quite seeing what he was looking for in the general vicinity.
"Yes! Lets try not too!"
Lumen started walking slowly. His steps were controlled and extremely precise. This was a result of the rigorous training in the Servants Guild Academy. The place he trained to become a professional servant.
"I am never opposed to kind company. Please, be my guest."
Thoughtfully, Lumen scratched his chin in thought.
"Hmmm, it is unlike an inn to turn down good coin. Most inns are not that picky......Furthermor you're attire is not that bad. But no matter, I can get you a room."
Sheah took note of how orderly he marched, but didn't say anything about it. She just wasn't used to his behavior- refined down to his trek- at least, not after sailing for weeks on end with a load of foul mouthed sea dogs.
"I guess it's simple business strategy," she said thoughtfully, "The general public might be less willing to stay in an inn if they know a pirate is there too," she laughed heartily. "I don't take it personally."
Lumen scanned the stalls for ingredients. Spotting one he was looking for, he pulled over temporarily to pay for a small container of some local spice.
"Perhaps....Hmmm? Pirate you say? I had presumed you were a transport ship crewmember. I hope this is not taken the wrong way, but I did not picture you the sea-pillaging type. You seem to polite to be so. The last few I have encountered have not been as enjoyable."
She gave him another hearty laugh. "That's how everyone reacts! But don't worry, you're right about me. Or rather, most pirates. We're not all bad, in fact, most seafarers I've met are mighty fine company. Those blood thirsty guys are the ones who give us our bad image," she spit in disgust.
Then she sighed. "Well, I used to be more of a privateer, back in the rougher days. Work was easier to find back then. It's been calm these past few years, but nowadays, I can tell a storm is brewing on the sea."
Tilting his head in question, Lumen walked to another stand. He eyed it inquisitively in search of more ingredients.
"I have met many upstanding mariners. Hearty and jovial individuals indeed. But, I must ask. If you are indeed a ' 'Pirate.' ' Who are you pirating from?...."
Lumen did not see what he was looking for, so he started toward the next stand.
"The peace is nice, but regrettably, I feel that it is ephemeral. I feel a great unrest in the ether if you will. I would think it best for everyone to prepare for the worst...."
She calmly reacted to his question and words, as though she expected it. "It might be best if I didn't explain that in such an open place. "You're right, though," she sighed, "I wasn't sure how to put it into words, but it's true that the ether around us seems disturbed. I don't know many people who can sense that," she seemed impressed.
Lumen understood Sheah. It would be best to speak of such things in a less public area.
"Ah yes, forgive me. I need to try and uphold my end of professionalism and try not to bring to much attention to that....."
Nodding slowly with a grieved expression, Lumen spotted a good booth and approached it.
"At times I wonder which part of us is detecting the disturbance. Our primal instincts or our spiritual awareness. Because often I think I am mistaking one for the other....It is uncommon to see others who feel the same as I. A few of my comrades in the guild thought I was just paranoid. They may be right."
Lumen chuckled lightheartedly to try and cheer the mood
((Fudge! I have to go! I'm sorry D; Thank you for the amazing roleplay! I really like the conversational combos were doing! We should try to schedule something again. Make this a regular thing ^0^))
Sheah looked a little surprised. "You shouldn't say that!" Her expression calmed a little, and she became modest. "That's how my father used to describe it actually. He was a great shaman. He and I were the only two in our village with the ability to understand it, so naturally, everyone thought he was crazy." She sighed. "But in the end, he said that thr two senses are intertwined. Like sight and touch, instincts and the sixth sense work together"

Sheah is a real ruffian. She's loud, roudy, and an extremely free spirit. But she can be courteous and kind, and always stocking up on useful items in case she needs to help someone with whatever possible outcome. Maybe they just meet in a town? They could be looking at the same ingredient for sale or something

Last two questions I swear xD
Should this be taking place after the events of most recent story chapter? (Thus, inclement weather never ending gray skies)
And also, would you like me to do the opening post? Or do you want to? :D
20 Oct, 2017, 11:20 pm

Because anything before the most recent chapter will have sunny skies and happy feels :D
20 Oct, 2017, 11:22 pm
Ah, I'm not up to speed on the main story quiet yet, so I guess it would be best to hold it before then xD
If you wouldn't mind, I'm bad at starting xD

21 Oct, 2017, 12:39 am
Lumen was quickly reassured by Sheah's reply and he nodded in acknowledgement. His smile strengthened by her friendly attitude, Lumen spoke.

21 Oct, 2017, 1:18 am
Sheah's expression darkened, as she put her hand on Lemus' to stop him from paying for the scam.

((Lol she's being kind of a hypocrite rn xD))
21 Oct, 2017, 1:37 am
Lumen nodded to her thanks. Chuckling as he handed the 10 gold pieces for a few stocks of Briartail.
"You think so?..."
Lumen chuckled even more as he selected meticulously a hand full of the stocks. Choosing only the ones that he deemed suitable for a royals digestion.
"Worry not, for I suspect I will meet my end at the end of a blade or whatnot. But yes, I will becareful."

Sheah shrugged, unsure, but impressed. "You sure are well adjusted. But I guess I can relate," She gave a chuckle, but no explanation. "So, where are you heading?"

02 Nov, 2017, 12:41 am
Lumen held the Briartail in his right forearm. He lowered his head bashfully to the praise.
"Ah, you are too kind. Believe it or not, I was not always this way. But yes, you and I are very much alike actually. I just hope you do not have as troubled of a past as my own"
Lumen adjusted his hair so that it sat behind his shoulders again before replying.
"Well, I will be looking for a few more ingredients before checking into an Inn. I will be here for a few days practicing cooking a specific dish."
02 Nov, 2017, 12:51 am
"That is pretty hard to believe," She said, "But let's try to keep it from turning into a contest," she joked, uncertain of how lightly to take the situation.
"Anyways," she shook the thought from her head, "Do you mind if I accompany you? I myself need to find an inn, but they usually turn me away if I'm alone... It's probably my fault for dressing like a scallywag, of course..." She sheepishly scratched her head, embarrassed to admit it.
02 Nov, 2017, 1:07 am
Lumen smiled calmly
02 Nov, 2017, 1:18 am
Sheah took note of how orderly he marched, but didn't say anything about it. She just wasn't used to his behavior- refined down to his trek- at least, not after sailing for weeks on end with a load of foul mouthed sea dogs.
"I guess it's simple business strategy," she said thoughtfully, "The general public might be less willing to stay in an inn if they know a pirate is there too," she laughed heartily. "I don't take it personally."
02 Nov, 2017, 1:31 am
Lumen scanned the stalls for ingredients. Spotting one he was looking for, he pulled over temporarily to pay for a small container of some local spice.
"Perhaps....Hmmm? Pirate you say? I had presumed you were a transport ship crewmember. I hope this is not taken the wrong way, but I did not picture you the sea-pillaging type. You seem to polite to be so. The last few I have encountered have not been as enjoyable."
02 Nov, 2017, 1:43 am
She gave him another hearty laugh. "That's how everyone reacts! But don't worry, you're right about me. Or rather, most pirates. We're not all bad, in fact, most seafarers I've met are mighty fine company. Those blood thirsty guys are the ones who give us our bad image," she spit in disgust.
Then she sighed. "Well, I used to be more of a privateer, back in the rougher days. Work was easier to find back then. It's been calm these past few years, but nowadays, I can tell a storm is brewing on the sea."
02 Nov, 2017, 1:57 am
Tilting his head in question, Lumen walked to another stand. He eyed it inquisitively in search of more ingredients.
"I have met many upstanding mariners. Hearty and jovial individuals indeed. But, I must ask. If you are indeed a ' 'Pirate.' ' Who are you pirating from?...."
Lumen did not see what he was looking for, so he started toward the next stand.
"The peace is nice, but regrettably, I feel that it is ephemeral. I feel a great unrest in the ether if you will. I would think it best for everyone to prepare for the worst...."
02 Nov, 2017, 2:06 am
She calmly reacted to his question and words, as though she expected it. "It might be best if I didn't explain that in such an open place.
"You're right, though," she sighed, "I wasn't sure how to put it into words, but it's true that the ether around us seems disturbed. I don't know many people who can sense that," she seemed impressed.
02 Nov, 2017, 2:17 am
02 Nov, 2017, 2:20 am
((Fudge! I have to go! I'm sorry D; Thank you for the amazing roleplay! I really like the conversational combos were doing! We should try to schedule something again. Make this a regular thing ^0^))
02 Nov, 2017, 2:28 am
(Thank you and good night! I'm sorry about the sudden exit >0<))
02 Nov, 2017, 2:40 am
Sheah looked a little surprised. "You shouldn't say that!" Her expression calmed a little, and she became modest. "That's how my father used to describe it actually. He was a great shaman. He and I were the only two in our village with the ability to understand it, so naturally, everyone thought he was crazy." She sighed. "But in the end, he said that thr two senses are intertwined. Like sight and touch, instincts and the sixth sense work together"
02 Nov, 2017, 2:59 am
(Oh yeah no problem! Just hmu whenever you wanna continue! Gn!!))
