"Is. This. You?" I look at her, she stares at me, anger and curiosity in her green eyes. I sigh and rub my hands through my hair, "no, that's not me..." She can't know that it is or we are in deep trouble, she can't know what i am or what i feel for her. I turn back to my homework again, my earring slaming up against my neck. She sighs, and i hear defeat in it, and that tears at my chest, I ignore it though and try to solve this problem. I hear her open the doors to the library's balcony, and i look up and follow her gaze out to the moon. Against my better judgement i rise from my chair and go out and stand next to her. She sighs looking down at the paper, she looks up again,
"all my life people have told me i'm crazy..." I look over at her, fear starting to grip me, she looks over at me, and there is so much defeat in her eyes. (cont.)

That's when i see a single tear fall down her cheek. My brows scrunch together, "What's wrong?" She shakes her head, and wipes her eyes quickly,
"What if they're right? What if i am really crazy? I mean i thought this picture was you!" She shakes the piece of paper, and turns back to the moon, the picture scrunched under her hand. "Hey, look at me." She sniffs and turns her head and looks up at me, another tear spills onto her cheek, and i wipe it away. Gently i place my hands on her shoulders,
"You are not crazy. I can promise you that." She shakes her head,
"But what if i am! What if-"
"You're not!" I snap. I run my hands through my hair, there's no way, i have to tell her, "You're not," I say slowly, "because that is me in that picture..." She backs up quickly towards the railing like she's seen a ghost, and that's when the railing gives way and she falls off the edge. I jump forward to grab her arm but i'm too slow and she slips out of my grasp. (cont.)

I don't think, i just do. I jump off the edge of the balcony after her, in mid air i shift, i feel all my bones melding together and after a few seconds i falling after her in my dragon form. Just as we get closer to the ground, i grab her with my foreclaws and pull her close to my chest, i flip over and take the brunt of the force to my back and horns. I lay there on my back, Krista on my stomach, shaking so hard. I slip her to the ground, and lay on my side, pain racing through me from the fall. She sits up and looks at me, her hair falling around her face, when she see's me, she backs up in fear. I grunt and but don't get up, i huff out a sigh, "This, is why i didn't tell you..." I look at her, my senses all much clearer, i can smell the fear on her, see the small cut above her eyebrow. "I didn't want you.... to see me like this...." She shakes her head, "This is just a piece of you. We don't have all our pieces yet, that's why we may not be fully put together right now."

I look at her, and she at me. I sit up slowly and look at her, my vision blurs for a second, but after a few moments i'm alright. She tilts her head,
"So you're a dragon, so that really was you in that picture?" I give a small nod, "yeah...." She smiles and it barely reaches her eyes,
"Adelard Rajarium... I like it." And that makes me smile too.

Sorry this "short" story was long! I've been busy with school, so hopefully i'll get more art up sooner or later.
