Question of the day! Do you have any artistic habits?

for me
Most of my light source comes from the right side of the canvas. I for the longest time also hug the right side and cut out part of my characters. X'D
A lot of my pictures are dark because I love shiny and flare highlights. I use a lot of saturated colors ( painting term straight out of the tube) /bright.
I have been told I get a very focused almost grumpy Face when I get really into a drawing x'D
Ughhhhh I can't think of any more

Hmm, most of the things I draw have night backgrounds because I think they're more interesting than daytime backgrounds. I also really like doing bright/dramatic lighting effects and contrasts, even if I'm not that good at it. XD

I do a lot of cloud ripping, it's a great and simple way to do effects and I find it fun.
I make my characters point left, a lot

I can't really think of many habits that I have...
I guess I tend to use a lot of cool colors? Blues, purples, etc.
Especially purples.

I tend to draw my characters facing left, too.

I've got a bad habit of abandoning WIPs in the rough outline/sketch phase, I've deleted a lot of paintings like that, but if I can get through that part, my perfectionism kicks in, and I usually can't relax until it gets finished.

Sometimes I draw OCs the wrong way in their refs, like the Blinding Vunreks, before I drew one I was imagining their build would be more like the dragons of Skyrim (hence the long necks/body), but I was afraid I'd run out of room if I drew them in that position, and I didn't want the wings overlapping the body, so I gave in to laziness and used the same build as the other Vunreks. For the record, I've done the same with the Deviljaw, which should've had a build like a Tigrex from MH.

I've also got no motivation to draw whatsoever, there's nothing I want to draw, my OCs, adopted OCs, nothing, I think I've really lost it this time...

(Lilly) I've felt like that before, it's more than likely just severe artblock or lack of motivation. Just take a break and don't try to draw anything for a while, it'll come back eventually.

I get like that all the time, Lilly. It's never any fun, and sometimes kind of scary when you feel like your motivation won't come back. ;-;
I'm with Radiant and Shadow, taking a break can be the best thing for that. I know I especially like watching a good show or movie when I feel that way.

How can I take a break though? There's so many things i need to do, I need to make some more RP covers, especially since I wasn't able to last week and Shadow's sick, Purity and Eater need winter outfits, I need to update Eater's true human form too, King Gorgeon needs to be drawn, as well as the next Key Guardian, then I also need to draw the adopted OCs I've received and make their bios, and I ought to make all of you guys some fan art since you've been kind enough to make things for me, and I've never once made anyone birthday presents or gifts ;n;

Lilly you don't have to worry about the RP cover im doing much better now, and I was thinking of seen if anyone from the group would like to host a session here and there like what Blood did, it was really fun and a good way to get the other involved to ^-^ I will have this week RP cover done soon so don't worry about it, ok :)

One of the things I pinpointed some art block on is when art become a chore, have a goal and request and other things are good for motivation and drive but to much become overbearing and then the wait of it all feel suffocating. Something I have learned over time is make your list manageable, pick out a few things and work on them (only the one you want to) if you end up getting frustrated over a pic stop and do something else or work on a different one, the good thing about art is it will be there when your ready :)

As far for fan art for me or birthday gift you have already done so much for me, and just having you as a friend is a blessing in itself :)

Don't let all of that stress you out.
I know it's easier said than done, but trust me, I've had the exact same kind of stress before, and I know it only wears you down even more if you let it get to you.
In fact, I probably still have that kind of stress. I still feel terrible that I haven't drawn OCs others have given me, and I always feel bad about the fact that I don't draw gifts very often. Honestly, though, you don't have to draw me anything. It makes me happy enough just having you as a friend. :>

If you really don't have the motivation to draw, then don't push yourself. It takes all the fun out of it, and makes it more of a tedious job, and that's never a good thing.
If it would help, maybe I could draw this week's cover?

Ahh I'm late to the conversation, but Shadow and Fluffy said it all. Don't stress so much over your art projects Lilly, or drawing won't feel fun anymore. Taking a break is perfectly fine and normal! And even if you don't there are ways around it. I've been hesitant to take a break, so I've been doing things that I find fun like drawing chibis and doodling animal anatomy. Just do what you find most enjoyable until your inspiration and motivation return. :)

I agree with Fluffy, art should be fun not a chore :)

I played the first Skylander game, it wasn't too terribly cringey, even though it was a big deviation from the Legend of Spyro trilogy. Now it's just become a shameful easy money grabber that Activision uses against kids. A giant purple Kaos fighting the Sklanders while wearing nothing but underwear, Crash Bandicoot and Neo Cortex fighting a Super Saiyan rip-off, and Malefor referring to Cynder as "Cindy," "sweetheart," and "kiddo" is something I've /never/ wanted to see in anything with Spyro's name slapped onto it

It's been a long day, yeah, it's always hard on me when I have to watch the kids, I'm still a tad bit sick too, but I'm getting over it.

I'm slightly salty about Skylanders too, but it'll pass. It always does :p

Lol Yaeh, I didn't keep up with it after the 2 game, it got weird (er) and was getting ready expensive, I didn't like that you could play as your previous characters though and they keep there power up (at least last I knew) I really didn't play as Spyro too much because he looked funny (I didn't mind his dark form though no the legendary one) I play as some of the other characters but that was a long time ago

Now Disney Infinity stuck because you couldn't transfer your old characters to the new game except for the sandbox and I found it really boring.

Now Nintendo has amiibos but there for multiple games, but Nintendo doesn't make enough so people buy them out sell them for outrageous prices :/

Probably the strangest song I listened to when I was a kid is "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha Ha!" by Napoleon XIV. I thought it was funny, it never scared me as a kid, but I saw comments from people about how it terrified them XD

Most of mine who are good singers aren't known on here. XD Bandit and Terence can play guitar, Crowley can play violin, Ethereal can play piano AND violin, and Cherry has a beautiful singing voice, but is too shy to actually sing in front of people.

For people who CAN'T sing... Well, don't ever ask Crowley or Ivy to try. XD

Honestly it'd be pretty funny if she sounded terrible, but it might also be stereotyping. You never know, people have their hidden unexpected talents.

Another aspect to consider is not whether they -can- sing but whether they -do- sing. Those who never sing typically don't have a perfect voice right away, but even terrible singers can reach a point of acceptable...ness.

For me, today was pretty sweet, learning SotC is being completely remade for PS4 was an awesome surprise, and I got to play Dungeon Defenders 2 with my cousins for a bit.

And I feel like Immabout to crash, why's it 1 AM already?

It's just my mom, she's never happy with me, there's just constant disappointment with her. She always brings up how because I'm nearly 23, I should be done high school and college by now and since I'm not, I'm just a disappointment to her.

Even though I just earned a credit and am earning my last one, I can see the disappointment in her face and hear it in her voice. It just really got to me last night, she's my only parent left and it hurts when she can't even be happy for me or support me.

I don't like venting or anything, but last night it was ruining me emotionally

That's so sad Blood, I'm so sorry to hear that :( *hugs* I can imagine how hard it must be to live like that... It reminds me of my grandma, she hasn't been like that for a year or so now, but I still remember when she directly told me she was disappointed in me, and called me a crybaby.

Ooh, Shadow, Fluffy, I've got some more MHWorld news for ya!

PSPlus users will be able to get a beta demo for the game starting December 9th-12th (Although I find it a little pointless since the full game is released in January.)

And on the PS4 version of the game, I bet you especially will find this interesting Shadow, there'll be DLC that makes your hunter look like the main character from Horizon Zero Dawn, with the armor and everything, including a new Bow based off the one from HZD and robotic armor for your Palico

Random question of the day: How do you come up with names for your OCs?

A lot of mine are name after Objects, I use names for the Bible, or of people name I think are nice

A lot of the time I try to pick a name fitting for the character if it has a theme.
Malice mean evil intent
Dreamcatcher is one who catch dreams
Oblivion, is usually referred to to the end
I pick, Alfred because he reminded me of a bat, and Alfred is the name of Batman's butler x'D
The list goes on

Uhm usually names to do with an element or theme I'll look up

Like names that mean 'rain'

The first 5 results I get are:
Alizeh, Anemone, Aureole, Breeze, Noelani

I kinda like Noelani now x'D
But I'll shuffle through names having to do with my character, usually just pick names that sound nice or have a nice meaning

Mmmm! I use both of those methods quite a bit too. Sometimes I'll use random name generators, and sometimes I'll just start throwing random letters together until I get something I like XD

Every now and then I get a little creative with my naming, like with #Voldunaasl, I actually used Skyrim's dragon language to name him. His name is composed of three words, "Vol," which means horror, "Du," meaning devour, and "Naas," meaning corpse. The extra l at the end of Naas gives it an implied "your," so Voldunaasl means "Horror Devour (your) Corpse."

I don't know how I come up with names for characters, I just use whatever name comes into my head. XD

For human characters that live on Earth, I obviously stick with normal human names, but I only pick ones I like.

For dragons and other creatures, their names usually have something to do with either their appearance, nature, or abilities. However a lot of the time I'll also use human names for dragons, like Lucifer, Nick, and Ivy.

Generally the way I name them depends on their species and the world they live in. One of my dragon species has mostly human names (Seth, Jasmine, Rick/Rikk, and so on) while another has mostly creature-like names (Adder, Ethereal, Nox, etc.)

If the name doesn't come to me immediately, I'll think of a letter, sound, or image I think suits the character, then look for names that fit at least one of those guidelines. When low on ideas, I'll look up names relating with the character's element or theme/era.

The beach is definitely nice. UuU I'd love to visit England or Ireland, or pretty much any place in Europe. I've never been outside my own country and people generally speak english at least in England, which means I don't need to learn any new languages. X'D

I feel almost the same, but my Great Grandmother was happily married one time and only ever stayed single after he died, she joined him around 34 years later after he passed. He was her one and only true love and I find that sweet

Turkey is better than chicken my dudes. You're cooking it too long or leaving it out too long if it's dry. I've been cooking thanksgiving dinner since I was about 8 or at least helping cook it, the only time it was dry is when I forgot to cover the turkey in the oven.

You also need to flood it with gravy...I love gravy
But I missed thanksgiving this year, I'm sad.

Fav smell? My great grandmother's place (she's passed away now), it's hard to describe, it was an assortment of scents that all together make me think of home. Whenever I smell it I get a peaceful feeling wash over me, it makes me think of when I was young and didn't have to stress over BILLS! AAAAAAAAAAH

I just don't like Monster Hunter, I've never played it, not once. But I've seen gameplay and the graphics look like something from the N-64. Also I'm not a video game person, even if I was, there was one guy I had in a group chat, who wouldn't stop talking about it.

The worst part was, is neither me or the other people were into MH, but he'd keep talking about it and it only annoyed everyone. So everytime I hear about MH, I get so annoyed.
