It had not been an easy couple months. Back during the end of summer, Antares had gathered her friends and family together in order to find her long last brother, Polaris. He'd been taken away when they were only four months old...Antares was about two and a half years old now, yet she had never lost hope.
Their mission into the city of Massilia along with Kostenlos of Shadow Empire had proved successful. Antares and her mother Andromeda were overjoyed to have found Polaris and brought him home, despite him having grown up and trained as an enemy Bounty Hunter. Everything in Antares' eyes was looking up. On the journey home she could only think of what the future would hold now that her brother was home at last. The group had taken rest in Fire Empire's old camp on their way to the current one. That's when things changed, yet again, as they always seemed to in that place. It was where she had gotten her shoulder scar, where her brother had been taken from, and where her friend Hercules' mother had been killed. Hercules couldn't seem to forget those memories either. The cheetah was a best friend to the bulky hybrid, and also a rival challenging her to be better and better. He pulled her aside the next morning, when the others were still sleeping. He told her that he wasn't going to go home to Fire Empire after all. "Everything bad that has ever happened to me has happened here. I have to find somewhere else..." He had said. Antares was in shock.

CONTINUED FROM DESCRIPTION
Although she knew Herc had never been truly happy here, she had never expected him to leave the Empire. Antares had tried to convince him to stay, but he had made up his mind. Looking at her, she could see regret in his eyes, and for some reason her heart felt like it was tearing apart. She'd told him to come back after a few months...she was nosey after all, and she wanted to know where he decided he would go.
Well, two months passed all too quickly. Antares had enough time to acquaint her brother to the territory and new comrades and help him settle in, and also comfort the other cats who were grieving the ones that had chosen to leave the empire after Polaris' rescue mission. Not only Herc, but also the tiger sisters Koda and Mel along with their father Ezekiel had now gone after hearing that their brother Rael refused to return with Polaris. The week leading up to Antares' meeting with Hercules by the lake was a week of deep contemplation, and her choice weighted heavily in her stomach. She realized that her family was the only thing tying her down to Fire Empire. She loved her family and newly reunited brother with all her heart but...she was an adult now. Besides her family and a few other good friends, the Empire was more or less a pain to her. Her whole life she had wanted nothing more than to find her brother, and now that he was here...she felt she had nothing more to owe the empire. She had never liked the way they treated her mother, nor the way the looked at her for being Andromeda's daughter. Sometimes she felt downright hated by some. And now without her best rival-best friend to keep her distracted..... She just couldn't stay here. She missed him far too much after only two months. How could she stay here indefinitely knowing he was out there in gods know what land? That idiot probably didn't even last these last two months! Needless to say, it had been no easy matter to tell her family her choice to leave, nor to bring it up to the Empire's leader. She was glad at least that they had accepted it, and not tried to keep her there. It would have made it hurt all the more.
And now here she was, staring into the eyes of her best friend as the sun set on the dark lake down below. The surprise on his face told him that Herc hadn't expected her to go with him, and her heart thrummed in her chest.
"Alright, I'm ready." She said at last. "Like it or not, you're stuck with me."
