How she was born:
It took in the darkness, but also enjoyed the Moonlight.
From a soft glowing white, the Star's color changed to a dark gray with light vains running around it. The Star hatched, a bright green light with wispy black shadows flowed from it and filled the area of the dark forest. A slivered haired girl stood once the light faded and she looked around the surroundings. It was completely dark out, the only light was from the moon and the now faint glow of her Star. The forest was just like any other forest, trees and bushes and other forestry things. The place gave the girl an odd feeling. But it was a feeling she enjoyed. "Go on, prove yourself worthy of this magic.." Her Star pushed, speaking in the girls mind. The girl nodded, but wasn't sure what to do. That was until an overwhelming feeling filled her chest and she gasped. "What is this?!" She asked, panicked and pressing her hand against where the feeling was. "It's the darkness, control it before it takes you." The Star replied, its tone almost sounding irritated but in a gentle way. In the girls eyes, it seemed the darkness was closing around her, like it was trying to consume her. And in reality it was but just not how it felt to her. She only had one chance, and she didn't want to see what happened if she failed to succeed. The girl took a short breath and tried to concentrate, letting the dark fall over her. Instead of it consuming her, she somehow began to control it and take it in willingly. After a moment it was over and she let out a relived sigh then turned to her Star, awaiting an answer when she suddenly felt a burning pain on her right forearm. It felt like someone placed a large Bolling stamp to her skin. The pain was so bad, she couldn't help but to cry out. What felt to be several minutes, but was only a few seconds, the burning stopped. The girl wiped her eyes and caught her breath, looking to her arm, a tattoo-like symbol was now there, but she had no idea what it meant. Finally the Star spoke, it had a soft but dark female tone. "Well done, Zilla, controller of Shadows and Dark magics. You will have to work on growing your powers, be careful they don't consume you.. Dealing with Darkness is a rough ability to keep under control. It can turn on you before you even realize.. I gave you a tough one to see if you were ready, you have impressed me. Stay safe and enjoy it here. Goodbye for now, my girl."

Zilla bowed and her Star shot up into the sky, back to it's home land. Where it had been, a small pile of bones sat there. The silvered haired girl edged over, wondering if this was another task when the bones suddenly began moving and putting themselves together. Zilla jumped back and fell down, watching as the little bone creature stumbled forward to her. She felt another odd feeling as the creature approached, but this one wasn't like the other. It was calming and gentle. Now not as afraid as she had been, Zilla sat up and reached out a hand, the creature stretched out its neck as is to sniff her, then it's bones shook and made a rattling sound. A purr. Zilla finally realized what this creature was and smiled, "You're not how I imagined I'd meet a kitten for the first time, but I'll take it." She looked up to the night sky for a moment, "Thank you, my Star." She said. The girl stood up. Glancing to herself, Zilla made note of how she looked. A simple, but faded dress and worn out boots were the only thing she was wearing. Looking down, she saw the Skeleton Kitten was sitting and watching with what seemed to be curiosity. Zilla knelt down and before she could do or say anything, the Kitten jumped onto her shoulder. "Hey, what are you doing?" The Kitten only "purred" in response. "Alright then.." Zilla stood, then a moment later started walking, following the light of the moon.

She didn't know where she was going, but she hoped to find something eventually. And that she did. She came across a small cottage in the forest, walked to the door and gave it a light knock. Quicker than anyone would have thought for it, an older woman opened the door with a confused look on her face. "Hello young one, why are you out at this hour? Are you lost?" Zilla shook her head, "My reasons are not important, I'm sorry if I woke you, but would you happen to have directions to the nearest town?" The woman, nodded, "Yes, I do. But please, come in, it's not safe for you out there at night. Why don't you, and your kitten-," She said 'kitten' with a wink, giving Zilla the impression this woman knew of magical creatures, "stay the night then leave in the morning." Her voice was kind and sincere, no hint of deception. Zilla gave a nod, but was a little on edge. Who was this nice to a complete stranger? "You don't have to let me stay, but I do accept the offer.." The woman lead the young girl in and to a small empty room. The only things in there were a makeshift bed and a lantern that sat on a small wooden table. The woman walked off for a moment then came back and handed her a pillow and blanket. "Sleep well, young one." Zilla thanked her and the woman walked away with a smile. Laying down on the bed and covering up in the blanket, the girl was soon asleep, her kitten curled at her side. When morning came, the woman, who was named Mildred, found Zilla a new outfit, and tied her hair in a braid, adding a thin head band "for deatil", Mildred's words exactly..

But still, through all this, not a single question about Zilla came up, which only made her a little worried something would go horribly wrong.
But nothing did.

After being fed a small meal and handed a bag with a few things she might need, including a hard-to-read hand drawn map of the realm, Zilla thanked Mildred and headed out back into the forest, a destination in mind. Now it was just her and her Skeleton kitten on their way..
