Before Ex died he suffered from many delusions.

Burnung from the inside out and omimous hands, tugging, throwing and strangling him.
These hands to him looked like 2d sketches popping to reality.

When he went into these delusions he'd fall limp, He'd twitch and fidget on the ground as he imagined his own mund torturing and burning him alive
