{Vitis made no effort to dodge Crowley's attack. In fact, he was hoping for it. As soon as Crowley's teeth sunk in, Vitis began to rapidly change shape. His body became elongated and his limbs disappeared completely, as he shifted into a massive serpent with vibrant orange and yellow feathers. Taking advantage of Crowley's small size, Vitis coils himself and simply sits atop of Crowley, using his weight to pin him to the ground.}Hahaha! I bet you weren't expecting that, were you?"

Armin shrugged unconcernedly. 'Sorry for not being an expert on sulky human teenagers,' he replied. 'If you're so good at it, why don't you go and talk to her now? Of course, I'm sure Dianne is waiting for us and wouldn't want us to show up late...'

Crowley released a gasp, more of surprise than pain, at Vitis's transformation. Instead of throwing an insult, however, he tried to turn his head to look at the giant serpent, all the while grinning hugely. 'That was pretty freakin' cool!' he said, sounding impressed. 'Not as cool as me, but still!'

{Jeremiah rubs his eyes and speaks in an annoyed tone.}"Ugggh, alright, we can't risk being late. If Ivy shows up there, I'll talk to her then. From here on out, I suppose I'll have to be the one who explains anything to her, because clearly, you just end up threatening people instead of explaining the situation.

{Vitis grins, matching Crowley's.}"Hell yeah, it's cool. What do you mean not as cool as you? I mean, just look at me. How is this less cool than a tiny bird?"

"Hopefully you lot won't get into trouble."
Mortikai mutters quietly, then clears his throat.
"Keenan, you are to take them out of the city and stay with them until they're safe. As you know, humans are quickly becoming an endagered species here in this city, so making sure that Emelia and her child get out should be a priority. I have...something to attend to."
His eyes seem dark as he turns away, putting his hands into his coat pockets.

"Y-yessir. We should get going, right?"
The lion shifter says as he walks towards the exit, tapping away a shard of glass with his shoe.

"Let's go!"
Ango grins, running out of the building with a little too much enthusiasm and Toby quick on her heels (after taking a few moments to leap over the glass on the floor).

Emilia looks up at Mortikai forlornly, hesitating before putting her hand on his arm.
"Don't forget us again, alright?"

He tenses at the touch, closing his eyes and sighing softly.

He takes a small leather-looking pouch out of his pocket and presses it into her hand.
"I'll be back for it. I promise."
With that, he walks off into the nearest corridor, waiting for his master to appear before him.

Watching him for a moment, she smiles softly, then ushers the rest of the group to go out before her.

Jed stared after Mortikai for a second, then started walking at a quick pace behind Ango and Toby.

Thorn didn't go. "A pouch? Do you know what's in it?" she asked in a nosy way.

'Don't worry so much,' replied Armin, leading the way out through the front door. 'She can't be stupid enough to come after us, knowing how dangerous it is out here. Also, why exactly would YOU be better at explaining things than me?'

Crowley's grin widened. 'Weeeell... maybe this'll convince you?'

With a loud crack, he activated his teleportation ability and vanished from beneath Vitis's coils. He reappeared a second later, standing twenty feet further down the road and staggering dangerously. The magic had drained almost all the energy he had left, but he still found the will to laugh raucously. 'Bet you can't do anything like that, snakey!'

"...I think I do. And if it is, then he will be back."
She slips it into her trouser pocket.
"Now come on. You kids before me."

Nodding, Keenan heads out, calling to Ango.
"Hey, wait up! I'm meant to be keeping an eye on you!

{Jerry frowns and follows Armin.}"Because instead of explaining to Ivy that there's a distinct possibility of us not making it back alive and she should stay here because if we die, she'll be all that's left to fight Sargon, you simply said, 'stay here or you'll meet an unpleasant death', which really does sound like a deliberate threat."

{Once Vitis saw Crowley teleport, he looked upon him with a starstruck expression.}"Whoa! Do it again, do it again!"

Jed sped up a little to catch up with Ango, and Thorn - after giving the pouch one more glance - trotted after.

Armin examined the gun Jerry had given him as they left the house. 'Well, I told her the gist of it, didn't I?' he responded. 'Anyway, where did you arrange to meet this Dianne woman? Somewhere in the city?'

Not at all willing to admit that he was exhausted, Crowley smirked before teleporting a second time, landing right in front of the huge serpent's head.

'And that's why I'm more awesome than yoooouu...' he said in a singsong voice. Then he collapsed on the ground right there, too tired to hold himself up any longer.

{Jerry, having given up on explaining why Armin's choice of words was bad, sighs and continues to speak.}"No, that would be too dangerous. We're meeting at a specific place in the forest. More specifically, it's a circular foundation for a house in the middle of the forest. We've dubbed it 'The Spot'. Are you familiar with it?"

{Vitis grins with glee and laughs as Crowley teleports again and then collapses.}"Ok, I've got to admit, that was pretty cool. How'd you learn to- Hey, you good bro?" {Vitis moves closer to Crowley to see if he had died.}

"C'mon lion boy!"
Ango grins, looking back at her mismatched group of friends and family.
"We have places to go!"

"Keep it down!"
He hisses, looking around while adjusting his eyepatch slightly.
"Anyways, isn't this the same way we came?"

"Well...I'm pretty sure the city gates are directly that way, which is back the way we came."
Ango says as she finally stands still for a moment, Toby circling around her.

"That's right," Jed said, stopping beside the pair. "I've been out the city a couple of times, it's right over this way!"

'I might have seen it while passing by once, but I can't say I'm familiar,' said the vampire. 'You can lead the way.' Just then, a thought occurred to him and he added, 'Also, is it going to look suspicious if I walk up to Dianne holding a large tranquiliser gun thing?'

'I'm just great,' Crowley groaned, his voice muffled by contact with the pavement. 'I'm just admiring a nice bloodstain I found down here. So, d'you still wanna fight, or are you gonna start respecting me now?'

{Jeremiah takes the lead before he speaks.}" No. She'll probably assume it's to deal with any of Sargon's men we encounter. This way."}

{Vitis chuckles at Crowley's sarcasm.}"Alllllllrriiiiight, I can honestly say I /kind of/ respect you, you know, the way you respect people with a real skill in something." {Vitis stops grinning once he notices Crowley's increasingly poor state.}"Y'know, I know of this chick in town who heals people free of charge. Apparently, it's against her religion to say no or somethin' but it looks like you could benefit from taking a visit to her, that is, if you can still walk. I could drag you there if you want."

After making sure the group had left, Mortikai halts and rubs his face, letting out a short groan.
"Alright Brink, what do you want?"
He slumps against the wall a little as a dark mass lifts off him, forming into the familiar shape of Dark Brink, a curved grin on his face.
//Finally. I thought they'd never leave.//
"What do you want?"
//My, my. Temper, Ondor. I'm only here for a few things, which might prolong the proper family reunion.//
"Get on with it before I pass out. You tire me a lot by doing that."
//Aw, I'm sorry. Now, where was I?...Oh yes. Someone's been summoning my sibling, for whatever reason. Just outside the city. Interesting, no?//
"Yes, and?"
//Well, why have one when you can have two? We might have someone new to the ranks to replace the traitors.//
"Ah, so there are some then. Who are they?"
//I haven't been around everyone yet, but I can safely say that the boy that attacked you, the twins, and the technomancer have betrayed us.//
"Oh joys..."

Armin didn't reply, but fell in behind Jeremiah and followed him closely, throwing a glance around in case any enemies were hiding behind the trees.

'I'm not a dam.n cripple!' Crowley protested. 'I can walk there just fine.' He heaved himself to his feet, staggering and falling against Vitis's side before quickly pushing himself away again. 'C'mon, show me where this healer woman lives. Maybe when I'm better, we could go for a drink or go murder some people together.'

{Vitis laughs at Crowley's determination.}"That's the spirit! This way, me bucko! And a couple of beers sounds pretty good to me!" ( @Radiant You know who he's talking about, right?)

"Well, that's slightly more reassuring."
Keenan mutters quietly, picking at the bandages on his arm.

"Lighten up kids. We'll be out in no time."
Emelia smiles softly, placing a hand on Ango's shoulder.

"Yeah! Let's go!"
Toby barks in approval, tail wagging as he paces around, sniffing this and that.

(Aggron - Pythia, right?)

Crowley managed a smug grin, despite his exhaustion. 'Sure, but you'd better shift back when we go out to get those beers. No bartender's gonna let an ugly great worm like you into their pub.'

He started walking, or rather limping, then paused and waited for Vitis to go on ahead.

{Meanwhile, Jerry leads Armin through the forest until they reach the landmark.}"Here we are. She should be arriving shortly. Also, let me do /all/ the talking. Also, if we're talking, and she starts to get upset, and she picks me up off the ground, don't shoot her, I'll be fine. But, if she makes any kind of skin-to-skin contact with my face, that's bad. That's when you shoot her, ok? I'm counting on you."

Armin nodded, rolled a shoulder and adjusted his grip on the heavy gun. Then he moved a few steps behind Jerry, looking around him as if keeping an eye out for Sargon's minions. 'I've got it. I'll watch your back. I suppose I'm little more than a silent bodyguard now.'

//Exactly. Either we find a way to get rid of them, or we win them back. You know I can't do anything on my own...//
"You know that answer. I don't trust you in my head anymore Brink...Not when I have something to go back to now."
//I see...Well, I can't twist your hand. I can easily find someone else to play the part.//
"If it's that easy, you wouldn't have come to me."
//Hah, we know each other so well. I suggest you take a walk before joining them again. I know you can use it.//
And with that, the spirit disappears, leaving Mortikai alone again.
Taking a few moments to recover, he stands properly and turns to go back the entrance to leave.

{After gathering as many bodies as she could possibly find, Pythia finally arrives at her mass grave, relieved to find it exactly as she left it. Using her water torrents, she deposits the last of the bodies, buries them under a mound of wet earth, and puts the water back into the park pond. Climbing to the top of the mound, she quickly buries the strange object she had retrieved from her temple and hurries back down. Almost immediately, the strange object begins to germinate into a sapling, then a small tree, then a massive avocado tree with black bark, blood red leaves and white flowers. To a passerby, it would look like Pythia planted a magic tree to mark the grave. In reality, that tree spread its roots below, destroyed the corpses, and used their matter as food to grow this tree. She had done this to keep Sargon from using the bodies for whatever dark purposes he had in mind. //I know these weren't all the dead bodies in Shacklestone, but I didn't have time to gather more. Hopefully, Sargon won't realize what that tree really did until it's too late.// With that, Pythia heads back towards her temple.}

(also, if anyone's wondering, I'm only planning on using the technomancer mentioned by Dark Brink properly (as in not as a side character), and even then I'm kinda on the fence about it-)

Jed, suddenly deciding he wanted to, shifted into his dog form and started darting around Ango's legs.

She exclaims, almost walking into him. Laughing, she dances around him to keep walking.
"Hey! Give a little warning next time!"
Toby bounds over excitedly, glad to see his friend back in his most familiar form.

Crowley glanced down at himself, trying to remember where each of his injuries came from. 'Ehh... some of it's from that lion dude, some of it's from a creepy non-human woman controlling a bunch of zombie things... I dunno, really,' he concluded. 'But this apocalyose is pretty great. I can go kill whoever I want and nobody can stop me.'

Jed gave a laugh-like bark and bounded forward, getting ahead of the two.
Thorn walked closer to the back, stopping to scoop up some broken glass on the way so she could use it for something later.

(Hey everyone, I'll be heading off soon, it's getting late here!)

{Jerry nods at Armin, then turns to the sound of someone approaching the clearing. Dianne appears, dressed in the same jacket, sunglasses, and blue dress as always. After giving Armin a wary glance, she addresses Jerry.}"Hello, Jeremiah. I've got what you wanted." {She holds out the bag of goods. Jeremiah takes the bag, checks it, then smiles.}"Thanks, Dianne. I really appreciate this." {Dianne nods in understanding. }"No problem. The payment, please." {Jerry hands Dianne the bag of gold with a grunt, then continues.}"Y'know Dianne, I could use your help in all this..."
Dianne:"No. absolutely not. I'm not going to get involved in this any more than I already am. Today, I'm packing up my things and getting the hell out of here before this situation gets any worse."
Jerry:"I don't see how it can get any worse."

As the conversation between Dianne and Jerry unfolded, Armin leaned his back against a nearby tree and lowered his gun slightly, though kept a firm grip on it and watched Dianne carefully. //She doesn't seem like she's going to go mad and try to kill us,// he mused, //but maybe appearances can be deceiving.//

@(Radiant ok, let us know when.) {Dianne puts the bag of gold over her shoulder with ease.}" Jerry, at some point, humans will hear about this, and they will come, intent on destroying every nonhuman in the city. I'm not waiting around for that to happen."
Jerry:"That won't happen if we kill Sargon and end this here and now."
Dianne:"I'll still have to leave. The mutual hate between our races will only get worse from here. Even if Sargon and his forces suddenly drop dead tomorrow, nothing will change the fact that he killed hundreds of humans overnight. Bottom line, I'm not sticking around to suffer through the aftermath. Goodbye, Jerry." {With that, Dianne turns around and begins to walk back to the city.}
Jerry:"Dianne, wait! Maybe we could make a deal?
Dianne:"Gold is one thing, but you have nothing to offer worth the trouble I'll go through if I actively help you."
Jerry:"Really? How about the locket you made for Mirabella?"

//Hmm, maybe THIS is the part where she goes berserk and kills us both,// Armin thought curiously, hefting his gun and aiming it in Dianne's general direction under the pretence of looking for enemies. //Best be prepared.//

{Dianne stops dead in her tracks at the name, /Mirabella/. Jerry pulls out the locket and holds it out confidently, despite the overwhelming urge to run for his life. Dianne turns slowly, speaking "What did you-" but stops once she sees the locket in Jerry's hand. She closes the distance and grabs the locket so fast, that Jerry barely had any time to react. As she holds the locket, she removes her glasses and inspects it. Once she realizes that it's the real thing, she falls to her knees, utterly overwhelmed by the waves of grief, anger and confusion she was feeling. Jerry cautiously approached her, but the moment he was within reach, Dianne reached out and grabbed his arm tightly. Standing back up, she addresses him with an unsettlingly calm demeanor.}"Maybe I was being....a little unreasonable. Let's go talk somewhere /private/." {She then begins to drag Jerry against his will into the forest, and yells something out in an unknown language. Suddenly, the Wolf Knight draugr drops out of the trees in front of Armin and stands about five feet away from him, holding blades and staring into his soul with its glowing eyes.}

'Woah!' Armin exclaimed, jumping backwards and ducking behind the tree he'd been leaning against. The draugr hadn't instantly attacked him, making him wonder if it was only there to stop him following Dianne and Jeremiah into the woods. But he had to know what was going on, if nothing else.

Raising the tranquiliser gun, he fired a single shot at the wolf knight. Without waiting to see if it had any effect, he placed the heavy gun carefully on the ground, then drew out his sword and charged at the creature.
