It was the day of the big race. my mom and dad had front row seats. oh, sorry! i forgot to introduce myself! i am Moondancer, greatest flyer in equestria! my cutie mark is a moon and i got it when... oh, but thats another story... i was doing wing push ups at the starting line when the coach yelled. "CAN U FLY TO MY OFFICE AND GET THE FIRST AID KIT?" he screamed. "THUNDERLANE BROKE A WING!...AGAIN!" i flew off.

LATER.... i walked out the front door of coach's house and looked up to the sky. then i noticed a green fog in the distance. "must be a storm," i thought. i sped to the arena, not thinking twice about the green cloud. it was finally time to start the race. we lined up. "OK," coach roared. "ON YOUR MARK!" "GET SET!" "GO!!!" we raced off.... Straight into the fog cloud. "HEEEELP!" i stopped and hovered letting the others pass. "dad?" i said. "Moon dancer!?" came my mom's voice. she sounded scared. "IM RIGHT HERE!" i hollered. then, i heard their screams of terror mixed with the sound of other ponies screams. i flew up and out of the fog. what i saw froze me in my tracks. changlings. they were EVERYWHERE. i looked around in the chaos and saw my parents. my dad was trying to fight them off from my mom. then, my mom looked up and saw me. or what they thought was me. a changling had seen my and turned into a clone. "dont worry honey" they said. and then they HUGGED it. it hissed at them, turned to a changling again, and dragged them up into the sky. then, he dropped them. "NOT ON YOUR LIFE!" i roared and flew towards them. you see my mom is an earth pony so, no wings and my dad's horn magic wasnt enough to support them both.

i flew faster, faster, and even faster. faster than i had ever flown before. just as i caught my moms hoof i heard a huge explosion. i looked back and saw my cutie mark hanging in the air. i left a trail of darkness and moon beams behind me. "wow", i thought. "its gorgeous.." then i heard a scream and relized something important. i had forgotten my FATHER! i zoomed down but a changling knocked into me sending me and my mom spinning away. i quickly recovered and looked to where i had last seen my dad.

he was lying on the ground. dead. his eyes stared at me as if to say, "how could you forget about me?" then a changling grabbed him by the neck and he was gone. Forever. i landed slowly and set my mother down. i then walked a short distace away from my mother and sat down. i cried. i didnt care who saw. i missed my father. i had failed to save him.
