Are Faifin's alway'd associated with a dreamer?

Not always, with in the land of dreams a Fairfin can travel as far as they like with out a bond partner, but usually stay around water and there birth place, a pool of memories.

Now in a different Realm/ world a Fairfin has to stay in a proximity to their bond partner.

A Fairfin usually always picks a Dreamer as there Bond partner but in some occasions have picked other creatures with Magic to bond with.

Are there cases in which Vaseterms Nightmares and Dreamers are stuck in there true forms? Like they can't shift into anything at all?

Yes, there are different ways this could happen.

For Dreamers and Nightmares if to many of their pearls are damage they won't have the energy to shift, and will be stuck in what ever form until there Pearls repair themselves, if at all. There are also different spells that can keep them from shifting a long with some sickness.

Vaseterm
if both there arm bands are broken the Vaseterm will not be able to shift, there are also seal that can keep one from shifting.

There might other things that can affect the species ability to shift as well,

If Dreamer's can choose a second form can they also copy someone's appearance as their second form?

No, a Dreamer copy the form of that species, not the individual, thats why there other forms still reasonable there Dreamer form to some degree, they are there only unique identity.

Can Nightmares reproduce? Like, can someone be born a Nightmare, or can they only become one?
Thought it has never happened, it is possible for a Nightmare to reproduce offspring, they have the same body and forms of the Dreamer just corrupted.

Why there hasn't been any is because that is not one of a Nightmares instinct to have children, if the Nightmare population gets too low Alphas and ancients will corrupt Others Dreamers and trun them into Nightmares, this however cannot be done to any Dreamer under the age of 18 because the process of corruption will kill them.

What a Nightmare offspring would look like is unknown, but it would be a hybrid that ether species have ever seen before.

what exactly are Fairfin? And Vaseterms

Fairfin are a type of familiar, they are creatures of light and need a host to draw Magic from when they go outside the land of dreams, this is one of the reasons why they pick Dreamer as there Bond partner because Dreamers are creatures if light Magic.

Vaseterm were much different in the ancient times, they didn't live as long as they do now, but that all changed at one point, this knowledge has been lost or forbidden to speak of, but the Vaseterm are a highly advanced magical species, Over time they modified themselves to be what you see of the current Generations, this knowledge has been lost however overtime in the fall of their world, there arm bands is evidence however to this long lost time.

A baby Nightmare sounds scarily adorable.

Also, great info! I love learning about other's species.

Baby nightmare...

I try to imagine it, but all I can think of is a chibi Malice.
(Like how Mal looked in that "Salt Kings" picture from a while ago)

Why, brain, why? X"D
