I'm having a fun 'if people dont draw your OCs noone cares and or likes your art but if you dare ask then thats manipulative and you might as well kill yourself' episode
(this is not a way of asking or forcing people to draw for me)
but also people liked these same characters as ponies??? i just draw them properly now but hardly anyone cares??? I used to get fanart and stuff but all of thats gone
like theres no two ways about it
im motivated by attention and ponies gave me attention even tho i hated drawing my people like that and they hated it too so...
and i dont need comments like dont draw for attention cause yah I know
but my sh.itbrain doesnt allow that and i actually need attention and validation
like liking my art or the occasional comment on a picture is the same as validating my entire existence and like keeps me alive cause without it my brain is just like
DEATHDEATHDEATHDEATHDEATHDEATHDEATH
this isn't aimed to make anyone feel guilty or to force people to like my art orb whatever
You post your TBB stuff on tumblr too, right? Are you posting the Q&A answers on there or nah? If the answers are just on here, remember how dead this place is compared to its younger self. I rarely see posts get more than 5O likes, not a lot of people are on here. I know you know your brain's just being dumb, but I wanna give some reassurance anyway.
Also
hhhhh that stained glass. If you can manage the motivation to finish it, I bet this will look amazing when done!
Yeah hopefully I can finish it over the werkend or something, I wanna get asks done first cause I'm having fun with them lmao
and i do post stuff on the tumbls too, i havent update my original stuff in a while lmao i tend to queue it up during a slump day but I'm just excecutive dysfunctioning all over that recently same w the new da which i keep saying I'll do lmao
aldo im juat typing fast cause brain speed lmmmmao
lol I can tell you're having fun with the Q&A, the answers are all really lovely and goofy. (or serious depending on the question.) The TBB Q&A's one of the better Q&As I've seen on here, and because of that, I'm having fun asking questions-- When I can think of them, that is. XD
I just wish some more would chime in, several people liked the ask picture but only me and winchester posted legit questions, there would be better question variety if some others asked stuff.
Like I really appreciate all the questions you've given, and winchesters actually made me think about it a bit, like I feel i've kept the balamce between goofy and serioua which is good fun and my drawing (esp consistency) is improving and its inpiring me for future big drawings
but like I wish i got others asking too??? like i know ponies have a broader appeal but i just thought those interested in the characters themselves would still be interested after i changed direction lmao
hopefully I'll get a new follower base, even if this place is dead
I'll probs just keep asks open forever and occasionally update the pic and such so you can always add things at any time sthejfeuhm
I may start asking more silly questions than serious ones as time passes and I run out of serious stuff to ask lol. BUT I also might not because you'll keep posting stuff about your chars and I'll keep being like "oooh hu?!"
You, ShadowPikaboo & Chompi have characters that get me like "hmmm."
Makes me wish Marc and that crew were super developed with an actual story. (There's not really a story for all them, they're just Elite Guards and all the stuff I draw of them is like slice of life stuff)
Marcus actually ain't the first "Marcus" of mine-- I played around with the concept of a team of about mmm... I think six or seven special guards, but they were human. So I never drew them, I did made miis of them though lul. I'd made two miis which turnt into two characters because I liked them, then I got spurred to make the guard thing with them. I drew the first guy, Ross, as a pony a couple times: #whatwho
(The dragon shifter girl, Fey, is a kid Ross helps, he was the only person to be nice to her and she gets attached to him. He winds up looking after her like a little sis)
That guard team was Ross, Nina, Jenny, "Lex," Lisa and Marcus. (...SO IT WAS 6)
I eventually shelved them. Then later on I made pony Marcus (Maybe I should call him his full name, Marcus Graham), Marissa and co.
^ The first part of that comment is a bit of a jumpy clusterf**k, sorry! Listening to music gets me a little distracted lol.
But yeah, one of those human guards I made was named Marcus. He even had a little goatee, too. But he was a hispanic dude. Pony Marc is like... I'm not even sure, but I know there's some irish in him. He doesn't sound irish, but he's got that red hair.
Also ooooh I can't wait to see your drawing of Vince! I know it's awesome. I feel it in my bones. (lol)
I feel like drawing happy looking (human) Rav with Kito sitting on zir head, but guhhhhh humans are my NEMESIS.
It goes like this when I try to practice drawing people, it's actually almost hilarious. Me: *starts sketching*
*immediately starts to feel awkward for some reason, and probably says "RestInPiss" 5O times* *continues to try to sketch, but eventually stops because the awkward gets too OP*
And I CRI BECAUSE I reallllly wanna draw some Assassin's Creed stuff (Particularly Altair, Ezio & Desmond) for the franchise's tenth anniversary on november I3th.
Hey theres nothing wrong with slice of life, its one of my favourite story telling formats, you have strong enough characters with enough in common and enough differences to make it work and I personally think it's great
also for drawing humans, the way i learned (outside of my awful art gcse lmao) is tracing reference pictures but like the shapes and skeletons of them, studying different poses and body types until i now can kinda go yeah this is how this should look etc. also clean sketches are key, like i clean my sketch as I go but others (and is probably better too but i draw Quick) keep sketching over and over (when im doing a proper piece I'll do 4-5 sketch versions learn basic anatomy first and then style but I learnt anime/manga anatomy first so its not a hard n fast rule but good advice
find what way of drawing works for you, my sketches are a mix of skeleton and bubble base, but my dad (an actual comic book artist who gave me all this advice) uses all bubbles
also for faces practice, i literally take pictures of different peoples faces to trace from (again tracing structure and shapes) and the more different types you do the easier it becomes to be 'unrealistic'
drawing people really requires being constant with it, or at least I have to keep at it or i forget how certsin things work syjsf5ayokg
foreshortening is a b!tch and the only real way to practice is by using reference pictures with dramatic foreshortening
actually always use a reference for complicated poses like i know that seems standard but i mean find your exact pose or frankenpose a ref otherwise it will look wrong some how
Noses are weird esp if going for realism dont stress about it cause they look weird irl people will know a nose it there
get yo self some books, old comics in various styles, etc. they make good references for both poses and styles, i really like Stan Lee's book on how to draw if thats a style you're interested in (it was only £10 for me)
also drawing people on a tiny ds is hard enough, it just is so practicing on paper is always encouraged and ive forgoten anything else because my cat it here
ALSO i literally had the same idea with Raville and Kito excep kito was in Ravilles hands and ze was holding kito up to zer face itgwvkgx maybe we could collab (jk idk how that even works on here)
Good tips- I'm actually able to analyze the shapes of things, think of skeletons and all that that good stuff! I just skimp on references since:
My computer's not working and I'm not gonna bother anyone to get it fixed, and I'm really self concious about searching for human ref pictures on a computer that's not mine. It's really silly but I struggle with it. lol
I've looked at my own face for reference, but that's just one face shape and drawing the same face ain't so fun.
Also, that's really cool about your dad! None of my family really draws. One of my bros used to and was pretty good, but I don't think he's drawn in a while. My mom ain't bad at painting, but she never does it.
Also also really? I bet we've had similiar ideas for other things too. XD
Collabs on here are possible, they just require everyone who's collabing to sign into one account.
It's like:
person A sketches & does lineart or what-have-you, privately posts lineart on [account].
person B signs into [account], downloads lineart while signed in, goes and colors the collab, then posts it.
see, you can post a picture as if you made it if you copy it while signed into the account that posted it. so, if someone were to get into an account, they could download whatever picture they want to steal and then go repost it on their own account.

this just happens when i do a lot of drawings fairly quickly
i know theyre just ask doodles atm but my brain is just like
noone likea your aet or finds any of this interesting

suggesting the opposite
but also
i should never draw again and shut down all social media
