I've seen The Last Exile and Wolf Children. :] Both are pretty great.
The full name of that anime is Seirei no Moribito, or Moribito Guardian of the Spirit. It used to be on Netflix (that's how I first watched it, but they took it off) and Hulu (which is how I am rewatching it now).

But when she is not experimenting in her lab, (A re-purposed greenhouse) She is reading books in the grand library of castle Citrine, spending time with her friends Talcot and Kali, or with her sibling/siblings. (Number of kiddos to be decided xD)
Despite what she might lead others to believe, she is very self conscious about her appearance, especially in the presence of her father and mother. She seeks to impress them, more than what most kids her age want to. To the point where simple mistakes in front of them make her extremely upset. Feeling as though she is not living up to their expectations, though, this is the furthest from the truth.
Luxia seeks to exceed Amai (Afai Leader and also her rolemodel) in renown of scientific notoriety and prowess. It is one of the many things that drive her desire for science and the academic way of life.
