can someone give me ideas? link me to inspirations? just looking for some creative ideas for the background
(also just drew the grass and the side of the river, i will be adding plants n stuff)

hmm maybe for the background, a bit like what you've already done you could have a rocky structure with vines and other plants poking out through the cracks in the rocks. :P

You could do a life after people kinda thing with the background. The city could be covered in plants and in ruins but still look peaceful or you could do a simple village but you could give it a lively feel with different colors and lights. I agree with @Feathers you could do the rocks covered in plant life or moss.
