Also, I understand perfectly if you don't want to, but I know of a certain book reflecting on St. Augustine's philosophy that might just help answer your questions, such as a million dollar query you brought up along the lines of "How do I know for certain that God does everything for my well-being and fulfill His promise?" It's a very good question with an astounding answer.

The title is "'Let Me Know Myself...' A Reflection on the Prayer of Augustine". It's not that long (just around 150 pages or so). This literary work is particularly special to me in that it helped nudged me towards that beautiful state of secure bliss I felt last year. I hope it will help you as well.
