I feel that the re-design is a little bit inconveniant. The pics for the chapters show her original design, so changing before the next chapter would feel weird, 'cause of the change from a short haired Serah from one chapter, to a long haired Serah to the other. Unless the next chapters are taking place way after the latest one.
I'd say make this change when it suits the story.
I personally don't mind the new design, but I like the original more.
