"They hurt you, didn't they?" Aki asked in her gentle innocent voice. Kai nodded with tear filled eyes,"Why? Because you're different?" Aki asked looking at her injured friend, he nodded again. "That's not right.." Aki's tail was placed onto the fluffy Tom's back for comfort. "You're not supposed to hang around me, they say you take pity on me." Kai whimpered, more hot tears streamed from his light blue eyes. "I hang out with you because you're my friend, Don't listen to them." Aki moved closer, sitting side-by-side, she pushed her head into his side,"from now on I will protect you, I'll always be your friend." She lifted her head off him, there pelts still touching. He looked up at her,"Pr-Promise?" He asked as if she wasn't being serious. "I promise, They'll have to deal with me if they hurt you." Aki smiled. Kai envied her ability to be happy, she didn't see the world like he did.
