Matthew Andes(I hope to put up a reference of him soon) is the only scientist he trusted. Matthew would chat with him when no one was looking, making sure he was out of the cameras' sight, being the only one who actually cared about him. He'd just call him "N", unlike everyone else. After three months confined in the lab, Matthew decides to take him outside without anyone noticing. He hands him an outfit to avoid any suspicion. Although "disguised" N prefered to stay hidden throughout the tour. After walking around for a bit, N goes into the forest behind the laboratory, practically drawn to it, being half wolf. Matthew follows with caution, and he finds that there's a full moon tonight. He and N hurry back to the lab through the exit door, only to be locked in a secret room. N transforms right in front of an intimidated Matthew. Carmen enters the room and orders N to maul Matthew. The werewolf refuses, as he always did, as he was always able to control himself.

Matthew demands Carmen why he wants N to kill people, who simply responds that he is supposed to. Carmen states that N wasn't even supposed to look the way he is now. He says that N is a "savage animal" who is supposed to kill people, simply because it's "what werewolves do." Carmen then points a pistol at N, saying he has no use for a defect, but is then tackled down by Matthew, ordering N to run. Carmen shoves Matthew off of him, and tries to pin N to the ground with assistance from other scientists, only to have N kick him in the face with his powerful hind legs. He breaks loose of the other scientists and escapes through a vent into the woods. While running, he gets his side sliced by a sharp branch, causing him to tumble into the braken. He hears the shouts of other scientists after, forcing him to hide. He wakes up the next day, still injured, but normal again, his pants now tattered shorts, as his shirt and shoes didn't pull through his shift.

After a week, the scientists stopped looking for him. His cut has healed, only leaving a scar. N knew he couldn't go back, nor anywhere else. Thinking about his past name, N renames himself as "Nero." After 8 years of living in the forest as an Alpha to a pack of wolves, he meets Katie, a young woman who has temporarily rented a cabin at the other side of the woods...
