Vitis' WIP is up. :/

(Kole) Well, the gist is that a vampire army led by Sargon are trying to wipe out Shacklestone's human population, turning it into a purely non-human city. That means that everyone who's not human is being ignored in the attack, but if they resist (like if they try to protect the humans) the enemy army will definitely harm them.

So Asher would be putting himself in danger if he tried to save Ivy. XD

(Aggron) Saw it, he looks awesome! I can't wait to see him introduced!

The stuff written on his bag though. XD

(Kole) I'm sensing drama approaching. XD

Crowley howled in surprise and pain when Dianne's draugrs slashed his back legs. He quickly rallied and spread his wings, launching himself over them and flying straight towards Dianne's face with claws outstretched.

(Draco)

Sheldon shivered as he and Tochi left the vampires' base, now deserted. 'I really think we should try to get out of the city...' he said.

Ivy ran out of her apartment, clutching her cellphone and looking around desperately for someone she recognised. The city was alive with the sound of combat, vampires and shapeshifters viciously tearing through the humans trying to flee down the darkened streets.

"Yes, yes..." Tochi mumbled. "My parents took me out of the city once, I've just got to remember the way..."

Thorn hissed as the fox shifter slashed her front leg. She hesitated, letting out a low growl, then seemingly out of nowhere a long bramble vine shot out the ground and wrapped itself around the fox's throat. "That'll keep you busy while I do /important/ things." She sneered and went back to finding Crowley.

(Draco)

'The main gates are at the end of King's Road... I think?' Sheldon ventured nervously. 'I've NEVER been outside the city before.' A loud crash followed by a scream made him jump slightly, but the noises were too distant to be overly worrying.

"Okay - let's try there." Tochi agreed, and started to walk at a quick pace, looking around her in all directions.

(Kole)

Ivy leaned against the wall of her apartment and looked around more carefully, using her phone screen to help her see through the darkness of the night. She seemed to be alone, but she could easily hear the sounds of fighting not too far away. 'What in the world is going on...'

{Dianne ducked her head, as to not lose her face. Crowley was successful in knocking her over, however. As she lay on the ground under Crowley, she begins to laugh. Her shortsword was now lodged in Crowley's sternum.}"Check-mate, you son of a bit.ch."

(Draco)

'Just... keep your eyes open,' whispered Sheldon as he hurried along beside her. 'Don't trust anyone! Don't talk to anyone! Don't even look at anyone!' A shadow flickered in front of them and he nearly yelped, but it turned out to be nothing.

(Aggron)

Crowley hissed furiously, saliva hanging from his needle-like teeth. He was too enraged to have even noticed the sword point sticking partway in his chest, and opened his jaws wide in preparation to rip out Dianne's throat.

(Kole)

Ivy's head shot up, and she cautiously turned her phone screen towards the voice to see who it was. 'Asher?! Is that really you?'

Thorn finally rushed over. "CROWLEY!" She yelled. "IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW, YOU'VE BEEN STABBED IN THE CHEST!"

@Draco
"...I'm not going. I need to find my mom! Everyone else can go."
Ango decides, sounding final. Toby whines quietly.

@Rad/Draco
"Rrr...Just- Just go in there and make sure nothing happens to them."
"Yessir!"
Keenan bounds off towards the door to the orphanage, shifting into his human form to open the door. He jiggles the handle, frowning when it doesn't open. He then bangs on the door, shouting in.
"Hey! Open the door, they're killing everyone out here!"
He says, trying to convince them to let him in.
Meanwhile, Morty looks about, trying to find Crowley or Thorn.

(I forgot what form Jed was in, I'll just say human)
"But- ...well, if that is what you wish," Jed sighed. "Please take care. Go ahead, Toby; you know the way."

Hearing Thorn's yell, he sprints towards them, grumbling.
"Mother of god...What's he gotten himself into?"

(Kole)

'I haven't a clue!' Ivy exclaimed, trying to hide how relieved she was to see him. 'But my friend Sharon texted me and said there's some kind of non-human riot going on. Like all the non-humans are trying to kill all the humans or something! It seems to be happening all across the city.'

{Dianne becomes a smokey mass once Crowley's teeth get too close. As she does this, a fresh draugr rushes in and tackles Crowley. Grabbing the sword, it twists it, breaking his sternum, disjointing a few of his ribs, and leaving a hole in his chest. Dianne rematerializes a short distance away, breathing a bit harder now.}

(Aggron/Draco/King)

Crowley yelped and staggered painfully, having to use his wings to steady himself. The fury faded from his gaze as his adrenaline ran out. 'Go to heII,' he growled to Dianne, then turned and limped away, abandoning the fight. He wasn't looking where he was going and nearly crashed into Thorn.

(Kole)

'It's madness,' Ivy agreed, stepping closer to him and putting her phone in her pocket. 'We'd better go now - but wait, YOU'RE not human, are you? You probably don't have anything to worry about.'

{Dianne grinned evily at Crowley.}"Ok, I'll see you there in about a day! The other draugrs were about to move in for the kill, bur Dianne ordered them to leave him. She knew it was a mistake to leave Crowley alive, but she had bigger problems to deal with. She leaves the fight with her minions, and heads for the prison in search of the leader of this genocide.}

(Kole)

Ivy hesitated, then grabbed hold of his hand. 'Well, I suppose I can't complain about having YOU with me.' She grinned up at him and then set off quickly in the direction of the main city gates. 'Just don't do anything stupid, will you?'

(Aggron)

Armin looked over the group of humans who had assembled by the gates. 'I don't think any more are coming, and we can't stick around here much longer,' he said tensely, then glanced at Jeremiah. 'I think it's time we got moving.'

@Draco
Ango pauses for a moment, then hugs Jed tightly.
"Make sure they're safe, okay?"
Jed nuzzles his leg, barking softly. She lets go and, with a wave, leaves the room. As she's about to unlock the door, she jumps at the banging. Quickly making a decision, she opens the door, looking up at Keenan.
"Get in. If you try anything, my friend /will/ make you regret it."
She pushes past him, waiting for him to go inside.
"Where are you going?"
"What's it to you?"
Keenan shifts awkwardly.
"I was ordered to protect something here. If you're going, I have to come with you."
Toby growls, making him back away a little.
"Stand down, boy. You can come with us, but if you try anything..."
Toby bares his teeth.
"You'll be getting these in your arm."
Grinning, Keenan shifts into his lion form.
"I think I have more. Now come on, lead the way."

{Meanwhile, at the prison, in a dark cell, two yellow eyes gaze from the darkness.}"looks like fun out there. Fire, death, looting, that's right up my alley!"

Guard: "Quiet, scumbag! No one's getting in or out."

???:"Rude...."

"The h.ell were you thinking? You almost got yourself killed."
Mortikai says as he reaches them, sounding annoyed.

{Jeremiah nods}"Alright. Everyone, let's get a move on. Exit's that way." {Jeremiah moves along the rear of the group, watching for assailants.}

(Kole)

Ivy snorted. 'Whatever, just don't run off to fight people and get yourself killed.' She was quiet for a moment, then added out of the blue, 'I'd always been interested in meeting your mother. Though THIS wasn't quite what I had in mind...'

(King/Draco)

Crowley stuck his tongue out at Mortikai, rather childishly. 'Hey, I can get into fights if I want to. And she was really annoying anyway.'

(Aggron)

Armin took up position at the front of the group and set off briskly, walking through the tall city gates and glancing around hastily before continuing forwards. The area beyond Shacklestone's massive walls quickly turned to woodland and greenery, with no other large towns or villages within several miles.

"But who's side are we on, exactly?" Thorn questioned, tail flicking. "Humans or non-humans killing humans?"

{Once they were out of the city, Jeremiah walks over to Armin.}"Ok, we're in the woods. Now what?

(Draco)

Crowley shrugged. 'I don't care that much. I'm not on ANYONE'S side - I'm just here to enjoy the fighting, baby!' He grinned, showing bloodstained teeth.

@Rad/Draco
"The kind of annoying that stabs you and leaves you for dead? I know that feeling."
He chuckles shortly, then returns to being serious.

(Aggron)

Armin waved a hand dismissively. 'Try to have some patience. You'll see it before long.' He continued walking, leading the group deeper into the trees. Some of the humans kept throwing him suspicious glances, but none of them actually voiced a protest. Although, that was likely only because Jeremiah and the police were there too.

(Y'know, Crowley seems awfully happy for someone with a hole in their chest. XD)

{Dianne and her minions arrive near the prison. Strangely, no one's in sight, and the prison isn't under attack.}"I must have beat them here."{Dianne folds her legs beneath herself and sits on the ground, waiting for Sargon to arrive. Her draugrs do the same.}

(Kole)

'If she's anything like you, I already know how nice she's going to be,' replied Ivy.

Just as she finished speaking, a dragon shapeshifter - in the form of a seven-foot-tall blue dragon - swooped out of the sky and landed in front of them, blocking their path. 'Are you two humans?' he growled.

colors just died for a good 20 minutes

The dragon eyed them both. 'She smells human to me,' he said, edging closer and baring the points of his teeth. 'Are you lying?'

'Hey!' Ivy burst out. 'He's not lying, and I'm NOT a stupid human.' Unfortuntely, she wasn't all that great at sounding convincing.

(Kole)

'Yeah, like I believe that,' the dragon snorted, blowing some grey smoke out of his mouth. He began to walk purposefully towards them, jaws locking in a predatory snarl. 'We can do this the quick and painless way, or the hard way...'

Ivy nudged Asher in the ribs. 'Why aren't we running yet?!'

(RIP Colors XD)
{Jeremiah didn't like it, but what choice did he have? At least they were out of the city and away from the violence. Jeremiah followed Armin, carefully watching for any ambush, or other dangers.}

(Aggron)

Arminus led them onwards for a good fifteen minutes, the path he was following becoming progressively rougher the further they went, with low-hanging branches and tree roots that made walking more difficult. 'Not much further now!' he called out cheerfully over his shoulder. 'Nobody following us, is there?'

(BRB.)

"No." {Jeremiah said unenthusiastically.}

Ango and Keenan walk in silence, an occasional growl from Toby filling the silence between the screams and crashes in the distance.
"So, where are we even going?"
"The hospital. I'm going to find my mother."
"Pfft, really? That place would've been raided ages ago, taking out all the weak humans."
He chuckles darkly, then stops when he notices they've stopped moving and there's a continous low growl coming from Tobias.
"She is /not/ weak!"
Ango says, a little too loud. Keenan's ears flatten against his head, looking a little sheepish.
"Alright, alright, jeez! I was only joking. And stop speaking so loud, you'll attract unwanted attention."
He looks away, and she sighs.
"Come on Toby. It's a long walk."

(wait what toby did go with ango and whatshisface? i guess jed has to come along then)

Jed padded a bit behind the group in dog form, silently hoping Ango's mother hadn't already been disposed of. He whuffed quietly.

(Kole)

Ivy didn't even move - she just stood there and gaped silently upon seeing the transformation of her friend.

Meanwhile, the dragon shapeshifter growled and lunged forwards powerfully in an attempt to get its jaws around Asher's neck, only put off for a brief moment despite his intimidating new form.

(Aggron)

'That's good. Keep watching for anyone suspicious.' Armin pushed aside a few close-growing tree branches and kept walking until, finally, something came into sight up ahead. A building... no, a small fortress constructed in the middle of the woods, the thick trees hiding it from the outside world.

(Wait, did Morty or Thorn ever reply to Crowley?)

{Jeremiah stops when he sees the building.}"A fortress? How long has this been here?"

(Kole)

The dragon roared in fury and swung his tail sideways, curling it around his body and hitting Asher in the side in an effort to force him to let go. Thick, choking smoke poured from his jaws and drifted away into the night.

(i can't remember hhhggshh)

(Aggron)

'A while,' said Armin unhelpfully. 'Now, come on - let's all get inside. I'm sure we have injured people here who need somewhere to rest.' He stepped up to the front door, withdrew a tiny key from his pocket and twisted it in the lock.

Meanwhile, Count Sargon - flanked by around fifty of his best subordinates - were advancing upon Shacklestone Prison. The count ordered three dragon shapeshifters to run ahead and take out the guards in front of the entrance, while he and everyone else stood by and waited.

(Draco: o ok)

{Jeremiah helps the people inside. Once everyone made it in, he entered himself. Armin promised him answers, and it was time to collect.}

Armin locked the door as soon as everybody was inside, then turned to address the bedraggled group of humans. 'Feel free to sit down or find a bed in one of the other rooms to sleep in. Don't worry about anything; you won't find anyone in this building except who's in this room right now.'

Then he turned to Jeremiah. 'Well, that was a tiring walk. I guess you want to discuss things now?'

{Dianne was sitting in a meditative state, conserving her energy. The sound of the clash at the prison gates snapped her out of it, and she opened her eyes.}"About time they showed up." {Yelling out to her draugrs, the group gets up and heads towards Sargon's group.}

(Kole)

The dragon crumpled heavily onto the road, briefly dazed by the impact. Ivy came sprinting over and hit Asher on the arm to get his attention. 'C'mon, let's run before it wakes up!' she yelled.

{Jeremiah holsters his weapon and nods.}"Yeah, a full explanation would be appreciated."

Sargon was aware of Dianne's presence, but he impassively ignored her until the prison guards were dead and his dragon minions had flown back. Then, without turning around to face her, he said coldly, 'Are you planning to interfere?'

(Aggron)

Armin went over to an armchair in the middle of the room and sat down, wearily running a hand through his hair. 'Take a seat,' he offered, nodding towards a second chair across from him. 'And feel free to ask whatever's been troubling you since we met. I won't hide anything. There's no point now.'

{Dianne stops, the holds up a hand, signalling her draugrs to stop.}"No, I've come to inquire. What is the point of all this? Killing every human in the city? What are you after? Money? Revenge?

(Kole)

Ivy yelped as she was suddenly lifted about ten feet in the air, and held on as tightly as she could as Asher set off again. 'Shouldn't you have done the whole transforming thing BEFORE we got attacked?' she yelled over the wind rushing in her ears. 'I mean, what if you hadn't had any time to react?'

{Jeremiah sits down calmly.}"Ok. Start from the begining. Who were you before you were an underling, and how did you meet this Count Sargon guy?"

(Aggron)

'Justice,' replied the Count, his voice calm and monotone. He signalled for his minions to follow and headed towards the now unguarded prison gates. 'Taking back what should, rightfully, be ours.'

(sorry I disappeared a bit there qwq
but idk if I can do anything now since Draco's gone on a magical adventure

'Oh,' said Ivy. 'Well, at least you can do it when it really matters.' She glanced over her shoulder, for the first time thinking about all the other people in the city, some of them her friends, who she was leaving behind. She valued her own life more than theirs, but she still couldn't help feeling a twinge of worry. Was everyone except her already dead?

(King: We could continue with Crowley and Morty if you like, and just pretend Thorn is floating in the background? XD)

{Dianne gives a look of confusion mixed with anger.}"What the hell are you talking about? What's rightfully yours that has been stolen?"

(Aggron)

Armin let out a breath. 'It's a very long story, so I won't waste your time reciting every minor detail. But I'll be sure to tell you all the important parts. Many years ago, when I was still human, I was living quite peacefully in northern Shacklestone with my darling wife and my two young children... Then one night I did something stupid, stayed out too late after dark, and a vampire got me. After I was turned, he dragged me off to see his 'master' - who I later discovered was called Count Sargon - and was told that if I didn't swear loyalty to the Count and follow him forevermore, he would brutally kill my family. You can probably guess which option I went for.'
He gave a dry chuckle.

(Kole)

'Where exactly does your mum live?' Ivy asked, unaware how strongly Asher's thoughts mirrored her own. 'If she's that big, she must not be living very close to the city.'

(Aggron)

The Count turned his head to look at her for the first time, his expression one of mild curiosity, like somebody who'd just found a strange insect climbing up their arm. 'Odd that you, a powerful dragon shapeshifter, don't know the history of this city.'

"You won't be fighting for much longer if you don't get that thing patched up."
Morty retorts, jabbing a claw towards the hole in Crowley's chest.

{Jeremiah gives a look of shock and disgust.}"So, you wanted nothing to do with all this, but Sargon used your family as blackmail? Damn, that's dirty."{Jeremiah shakes his head dissapprovingly.}"Where's your family now?"

(Kole: What do you mean? The gates?

Crowley flinched back and scowled at his sort-of-friend. 'It's not like I'm dying or something, it's just a wound. I've had waaaay worse and survived. Besides, who's gonna fix it for me? The human doctors who are all dead by now?'

(Bye, @Kole!) {Dianne tilts her head at Sargon.}"The city's history?"{She takes a deep breath, then continues.}"I moved here about a century after the city was established (By humans, according to their history). Up until that point, I was essentially living under a rock, recieving no news from any civilization. What happened in this city that justifies this genocide."

(Aggron)

Armin shrugged. 'He loves blackmail. He'll do pretty much anything to get what he wants. And my family... they're dead. They all died over a hundred years ago.'

"Bas.ta.rd..."{Jeremiah remarks.}"So, if your family died 100 years ago, why'd you stay with him?"

"We can at least get some bandages, stop the bleeding. And besides, I have a vague memory of First Aid and some anatomical knowledge. Surely a dragon is not much different from a human in terms of insides."
He grins darkly, tail curling gently.

(Aggron)

The Count turned back to direct his minions, sending them to examine every cell in the prison and pay special attention to any that held non-human criminals. He replied to Dianne as he worked:
'Then I now understand why you know nothing. Shacklestone was built originally by the 'non-humans'. It was a city just for us; a place where we could be safe from humans. But then the humans invaded us, taking control of Shacklestone, appointing themselves as its leaders. But that was not the worst crime they committed. They never trusted us. How many 'non-humans' do you know are actually respected citizens? Most of us live in near poverty, unable to even find work because of our race. I am here to regain the city and restore glory to my own kind.'

(Sorry for all my novel-length posts.)

Crowley looked vaguely uneasy for a moment or two. 'Yeeeah, like I'm gonna trust you when you're giving me that creepy smile...' He winced, putting a paw up to his chest. It came away sticky with blood, and he examined it with interest. 'Huh, I'm bleeding.'

Mortikai's ears flatten against his head, looking a little annoyed.
"You don't say. Hey, have you noticed the hole in your chest and all your possible broken bones yet?"
He says in a jokily happy tone.

(Aggron)

'What else was there to do?' Armin replied darkly. 'I'm older than more than half of this city's population, and my family - the people I cared about more than anything - died while I wasn't around. I never had the chance to see them again after I was turned into a vampire - Sargon would kill them all if he caught me going back there. Then they died of old age and I didn't have any reason to keep existing, so I stayed with Sargon because he was the only thing I had.'

(King)

'I don't have any broken bones!' Crowley protested loudly. He took a step forwards, then paused, mild discomfort flickering across his face. 'Huh, OK, maybe I do. So just tell me, am I going to die?'

{Dianne was silent for a moment, then begins to laugh.}"You-you're an idiot! Every human involved in that conquest has been dead for ages, and you seek revenge on their offspring? By killing them all? Ahahaha! Fool!"{Dianne's tone suddenly changes to anger.}"Their species outnumbers ours a million to one! Once word of this spreads to the rest of the lands, they will come, armed and in force! Your cabal will only get you and all who follow you killed! You've picked the most petty and ineffective 'justice' possible!"

@Radiant
"If you can still feel your heartbeat and you can still breath easily, you'll be fine. Just don't move much, or your bones might punch a hole in something."
He shrugs slightly, speaking quite nonchalantly.

{Jeremiah sat back in his chair.}"It might just be me, but I'd want revenge for stealing my life. So, what was the point of killing everyone in the city? He wanted to be king for a day?"

(Aggron)

'I do not seek petty revenge,' said Sargon, giving Dianne a cold stare. 'I seek protection for my race. I care not whether the human population lives or dies, so long as I get what I want. And do not be so quick to assume that they outnumber us... I am not stupid enough to take over a city and not think of the possible consquences.'

(King)

'Well, I can definitely breathe and I don't seem to be losing all my blood,' replied Crowley, still eyeing the red liquid on his claws with curiosity. 'So, wanna go and find more random strangers to kill, or d'you want to sit back for a while?'

{Dianne looks rather flustered now.}"Oh really, smart guy? What's your plan for when they come and knock down the gate and storm the city? You have, what, 200-ish minions under you plus maybe a hundred or two more from the prison? That's not enough to hold a city this large."

{Meanwhile Vitis is watching excitedly as the inhumans begin to enter the prison.}"Oi, let me outta here!"

(Aggron)

Armin's eyes narrowed. 'I had no way of getting vengeance against him without risking my life or the lives of the very few friends I had. And what difference would it make? Petty revenge wouldn't have given me my life or family back.' He paused. 'And I don't know his full plan, but I'm sure there's more to it than 'run around the city and kill every human he sees'.'

(Aggron)

'And so according to you, Shacklestone is the only place in the world where they may be others of our race?' Sargon stared at her for a moment longer, then turned away to address his troops. 'I heard a voice. Let's go and investigate.' He walked down a long corridor, heading towards Vitis' cell.

(I'm gonna have to go in 20-30 minutes.)

"Hah, I'd love to kill some random strangers, but only if the voice in my head says that it's okay."
He laughs.
"I'm kidding. He's not always in my head."
He begins to walk off, waving his tail at them.
"Come on then, you two. We could swing by the hospital on our little adventure and get some bandages for feathers here."

{Jeremiah gives a serious look.}"True, but killing him could have saved everyone dying in the city today. I think you're right, though. He can't be that stupid. We need to figure out his full plan and fast. Surely, someone thought about the consequences and asked him. Are you sure he didn't say anything more than 'take back our city?'"

(King)

'Ooh, a voice in your head that tells you to kill people? That's awesome!' said Crowley excitedly as he limped along beside Mortikai. 'I kinda wish /I/ could go into peoples' heads and tell them to kill each other.'

(Aggron)

'I never heard it being discussed,' replied Armin. 'Maybe he had more trusted minions who know his entire plan, but I myself never knew a thing. If you want to find out, I guess you'll have to find out yourself - somehow.'

{Dianne blinks a few times. //What? Does he mean-// She walks after him.}"Hold on, do you mean to tell me that you've convinced our //entire// race to join you and war against humanity?"

"It's not all the time though. Certain people for certain reasons. I'm sure he wouldn't mind me letting loose a little, I know who he wants to keep safe."
Mortikai trots along, debating on shifting to another form for speed.
(little did morty know, he doesn't know everyone Brink wants to keep safe uwu)

{Jeremiah sighs.}"I have an idea, but it involves going back into the city, and possibly blackmail. Hopefully, it won't come to that though..."

(Aggron)

Sargon didn't respond, or even look at her, but instead walked up to Vitis' cell door and tapped it with a finger. Instantly the lock broke, letting the door slowly swing open. 'Why does my plan matter to you?' he finally said, to Dianne.

(King)

Crowley shrugged, while limping along and trying to keep pace with Morty's smoother strides. 'Still pretty dam.n cool,' he said. 'Wait, did you just say we're going to the hospital?'

(Aggron)

Armin nodded, his gaze fixed thoughtfully on the floor. 'I've decided that, unless something happens that makes it impossible for me to do so, I'll stand by you and the other humans and help you overthrow Sargon - if it can be done.'

Sargon left the now-empty cell and walked back up the corridor, not seeming bothered that Vitis barely said a word to him. 'Why do you think it would involve you? You are not a part of my army, nor do I expect you to fight for Shacklestone with the rest of your race.'

Those of us who just wanted to live peacefully are going to have a harder time doing that now. On the same subject, do you know of any good character development question sheets on DA, like the one I did with Hack? Those seem to help me to come up with the facts.
