It is believed Nightmare don't cry, that they are not capable of those Feeling and emotions that shed tears. This is why Cataclysm in Skey gets mad at Dreamcatcher for crying because he doesn't understand it or it's purpose.
No one has ever seen a Nightmare cry in any form but if one ever did their tears would be black.
When Dreamcatcher in his dark form cries, he sheds gray tears this is because he is not fully corrupted if he was a full Nightmare his tears would be black.
