Alicorns themselves aren't a bad thing, it's only bad when they have ridiculous strengths and no weaknesses.
You can have a strong alicorn, but they have to have weaknesses.
Or, you can have a weak alicorn - my first pony character, #koro, is a weak alicorn who is bad at flying and doesn't have good magic.
