Crowley folded his wings tighter and raced through the trees, doing his best to outpace Mortikai, though the bengal seemed to be slowly gaining on him. 'Aw, can't you catch me?' he yelled over his shoulder in a taunting voice, putting on a final burst of speed.

Sheldon tossed and turned fitfully on the couch, before suddenly awakening with a strangled yelp and sitting bolt upright. His eyes stared unseeingly into the dark, towards the place where he knew Tochi was sleeping without a problem. What wouldn't he give for that kind of peace right now...

Tochi's eyes opened and she stared through the darkness at the spot were Sheldon sat. "Sheld? You OK?" She asked quietly.

"You'll be eating those words, birdbrain!"
Mortikai replies, excellerating from his "gallop" to a sprint to catch up with the dragon, aiming to either hit or bite his tail.

Sheldon chewed his lip and nodded, even though she probably couldn't see him. 'Um, yes. I-I'm fine.'
The realisation of where they actually were caught up with his sleep-muddled brain, and he shuddered involuntarily. A house full of monsters, who most likely wanted to make him like them.

He catches the fish, tail wagging to show his thankfulness for the more gentle throw.
Managing to calm the child down, Ango begins to usher them and the others back upstairs to their bedrooms.

'Why does EVERYONE call me an effing birdbrain?' Crowley exclaimed, glancing back to see Morty hot on his heels. He couldn't speed up anymore, but he hoped the bengal might get tired before he fully caught up.

"You sure?" Tochi called. "OK, just try to relax. For now, we're safe."

Jed crouched, waiting for Toby to do something with the fish.

'You keep saying that,' Sheldon mumbled. 'But we're NOT safe, not in the slightest. Tomorrow we're probably going to be killed horribly or turned into vampires or some other horrible creature.' He shuffled on the couch, wishing he was close enough to actually SEE Tochi, rather than just hearing her voice in the dark.

"Maybe it's the feathers."
He laughs, bunching the muscles in his legs up as he pounces, claws outstretched and swinging towards Crowley's tail in an attempt to grab it, having since decided that trying to bite it would be too much effort (and it would probably taste horrible).

Crowley let out a yelp as he felt Mortikai's weight come down on his tail, effectively pinning it to the ground. He skidded to a halt, his front claws gouging long trenches in the earth, and swung his head around to shoot Morty a mock-glare. 'That should've lasted way longer.'

"It won't be so bad... really. If we do become creatures, we'll still be us on the inside, still alive." Tochi tried to comfort the Sheldon.

Toby backs away a few paces, then throws the fish towards Jed, barking quietly in anticipation for it to be thrown back.

(Draco)

'But... how do you KNOW that?' Sheldon persisted, his voice shaking slightly. 'Look at all these vampires. Maybe they were all nice people before... you know. A-and becoming vampires made them evil.'

Aaaaay, I'm back! {Dianne nods in response to Armin's farewell. After finishing her drink, Dianne leaves her payment on the table and once again begins to head home.}

Mortikai looks up at him, a smug grin plastered on his face and chest visibly moving as he catches his breath.
"Oh really? Looks like I foiled your plans."

Tochi shook her head slowly. "They chose to be who they are... I'm sure of it. It doesn't matter what species you are, you can still be good."

Jed caught the fish by the fin and threw it back to Toby, tail wagging excitedly.

Arminus set off at a brisk walk in the opposite direction from where Dianne was going, making his way back to the vampire safe house. The streets were mostly deserted, but he was still extremely cautious, taking a few detours and doubling back on himself to shake off any pursuers. Once he reached the front of the house, he found a bearded vampire waiting outside for him.

'Jerald,' he said softly. 'I'm guessing it's almost time?'

'Yep,' Jerald replied, opening the door and ushering him inside. 'The Count hasn't said anything yet, but I think he's almost ready.'

'Ready to reclaim Shacklestone as ours?'

'Yes.'

'Good,' said Armin quietly, heading into the building and shutting the door behind him. 'We've waited long enough, haven't we?'

Crowley sat down and coiled his tail around himself, dragging his sharp claws through the grass. 'Yeah, maybe you did...' he replied nonchalantly. He'd never admit it in a million years, but he was actually almost impressed. He'd really expected to win that.

Sheldon hunched up tiredly on the couch. 'I hope you're right, but I can't quite believe it.' He shivered, wrapping his skinny arms around himself. 'Why can't I sleep...' he mumbled, half to himself.

Thorn stalked through the brambles at the edge of the park, following a mouse. The little animal paused, and in a flash one of the cat's green paws were seemingly torn from her vine-wrapped leg and slammed on top of the mouse. Grinning in satisfaction, Thorn grabbed it in her jaws, re-attatched her paw and slid out of the bushes.

He jumps to grab it, preparing to throw it again when Ango takes it from his mouth, laughing.
"Mine now!"
She dodges back as he jumps up at her in an attempt to get it back, then throws it to Jed.

Jed leapt up to grab the fish, but it flew over his head and disappeared behind a pile of cushions. He barked and trundled over to find it.

Tochi got up from the bed and walked over to Sheldon. "Sheldon... have the bed," she told him. "It might help you sleep. I'll be fine on the sofa."

"Well, I wouldn't have won if I was in any other form. At least, I think so. I forget how fast a lion can run."
Mortikai says while pacing over to sit next to him, flicking an ear.

Sheldon stared at her blankly for a moment, until her words sunk in. 'What? No. I couldn't. This couch is about as comfortable as a pile of broken wood. I will not let you be uncomfortable just because I'm being weak.' He stayed stubbornly sitting on the couch.

Crowley stayed sitting where he was, one eye flicking sideways to observe Morty. 'So, whaddya want to do now?' he asked. 'Normally I wouldn't bother asking, but I don't have any idea what we SHOULD do right now.'

Toby spins around and runs after the fish, not watching where he's going and crashing into a beanbag near the pile of cushions. He makes a confused woof-ing noise, backing out of the beanbag and looking at it as if it had materialised out of nowhere.

"Sheldon. Bed. Now." Tochi repeated, sounding rather like a mother trying to get her child to go to bed. "Go on, I'll be fine. Please?"

Jed looked at Toby in the beabbag, the fish dangling from his mouth. "Wrf?" He tipped his head to the side.

'I highly doubt that sleeping in the bed will make me stop having nightmares,' Sheldon said darkly. He reluctantly stood up, but still hovered in front of the couch, shuffling his feet and blocking the way for her to sit down.

(Draco: Ehhhh, I'd do something with her but all my characters are doing other stuff right now.)

Tochi put an arm around Sheldon and firmly steered him to the bed. "There. Good night, Sheldy." Tochi walked off back to the sofa.

{Upon reaching her home, Dianne walks in through the front door, locks it behind her, and immediately heads upstairs. Upon approaching her bedroom door, the two suits of armor at either side turn their heads and look directly at her, one staring at the wound on her arm.}"Stand down, you two. It was nothing, just a little scuffle."{One 'suit' lets out a low growl.}"If he comes here, then you will kill him, simple as that."{The suits return to their posts while Dianne heads into her room for the night.}

"We could explore this place a bit. I've never properly gone through here before. Or we could head back. I did leave all my belongings there."
He thinks aloud between a couple of licks at his paw.

Sheldon let himself be pushed towards the bed, but hesitated as Tochi began to walk away. He reached out to grab her arm, stopping her. 'W-wait... just for a second.'

A toothy grin stretched across Crowley's muzzle. 'Let's explore, we might find something really cool.' He stood up in a smooth motion and wandered away into the woods, not waiting for a response.

(I like the talking suits of armour. XD)

Tochi looked back to Sheldon. "Mm?"

His tail wags as he gets up onto his feet, shaking his head side to side, trying to show that he's fine. Ango laughs lightly at them both.

(Draco: I was actually gonna ask you that. I don't mind if she meets them.)

Sheldon hesitated once more, then suddenly threw his arms around her and pulled her against him, burying his nose in her hair as if it were the last hug they'd ever get to have. 'Thank you for... everything,' he mumbled.

(Draco: I just noticed you wrote a sentence back there that says 'Tochi tried to comfort the Sheldon.')

He trots after him, nodding.
"Hopefully."
Flicking his tail gently, he looks around.

Crowley kept the lead, looking around curiously as they passed a cluster of gorse bushes and tangled trees.

Jed whuffed and threw the fish back at Toby.

Thorn carried her catch into the woods. She enjoyed climbing the tall trees so she could admire the view while she ate. However, upon entering the woods, she caught two scents - one feline like her, one the sharp scaly smell of a reptile.

Sheldon slowly let go of her. 'I... uhm... that's OK,' he faltered, looking a bit embarrassed by his sudden action. He climbed onto the bed and lay back carefully, staring at the ceiling.

Tochi lay down upon the sofa. It WAS uncomfortable, but she'd be fine.

'...Goodnight,' said Sheldon quietly, trying to relax enough to fall asleep, his entire body tense with pent-up fear and worry.

"'Night," Tochi replied, stuffing a lumpy pillow under her head.

It was nearly one AM. Silent as a breath of wind, the vampire army assembled themselves outside the safe house. At the front of the hundred-plus-strong group stood Count Sargon, flanked by Jerald and Armin.

'It is time,' he intoned, looking up at the clear night sky. 'In just a few days, this city will once again belong to us - the way it was meant to, the way it always should have been.'

'How shall we proceed?' Armin asked. There was something odd in his voice, something like disquiet. But fortunately for him Sargon didn't pick up on it.

'We will spread out and sweep across the city. Kill every human you encounter. If any of them wake up and leave their homes, kill them as well. Try not to kill any magical beings, but be prepared for possible resistance, and harm them if necessary. Arminus, you will control the forces heading to the north, and Jerald, you will control those heading south. I will command all of the rest.'

'Understood,' said Jerald, grinning gleefully.

The vampire troops, accompanied by a few werewolves and shapeshifters, rapidly moved out across the breadth of Shacklestone City. A group of about a hundred and twenty went north, while a slightly smaller group headed south. The relatively few humans who were still wandering the streets quickly lost their lives. It would only be a matter of time before everyone became aware of what was happening...

(OK, you guys can do whatever you like now.)

( @Radiant They are. Where I am, we have one fatally venemous species, three different confirmed species that roam the floor at night, and countless other species that reside in the countryside.)

{Jeremiah awoke to the sounds of a struggle nearby. Quietly maneuvering out of bed, he peeks out the blinds of his window out onto the street.}

(Aggron: There's no way we could live there. XD I live in the UK, there are a few pretty big spiders, but not many that I know are dangerous.)

In her pitch-dark apartment, Ivy jerked awake at the sound of her mobile buzzing. Swearing under her breath, she reached for it blindly and tried to focus on the bright screen. 'Who in the world...' she mumbled. She had one missed call from her school-friend Ashley. She phoned her back, furious at being woken up but inmensely curious as to what was so important.
'IVY!' a voice shrieked from the other end of the line. 'What the heII are you doing! Get up and get out! There are monsters... hundreds of them... everywhere!'

( @Radiant I'm actually kinda lucky, all things considered. Where I am, there's only one dangerous kind of spider. In places like South America and Australia, there are dozens.)

Crowley suddenly paused, scenting something unusual in the treetops nearby. 'Who's there?' he called out, more curious than annoyed.

(Aggron: Oh yeah, those would be way worse, I've seen some of the spiders you can find in places like Australia. I'm so glad I live in a place where spiders are mostly small and harmless. XD)

"I'm here," Thorn emerged from the bushes in front of Crowley and Mortikai. "And who might YOU be?" One of her paws came off again and flicked a leaf off her ear.

{Deciding not to wait any longer, Jeremiah puts on his clothes and weapons and prepares to venture outside. This time, however, he adds a large knife and a strange amulet to his arsenal. Quietly opening the door, he exits his office, unaware of the hell that awaited him and any other human who dared to venture into the night.}

Crowley stared at Thorn, his gaze following her severed paw as it floated around in front of him. 'Uh, what?' he said, missing her question as he was completely distracted.

Mortikai stares in wonder at her disembodied paw.
"Fascinating..."

"Tsk, tsk," Thorn stuck her paw back onto her leg. "I asked who you were. And you," she added, nodding to Morty.

The southern half of the vampire army continued to march, tearing apart any human they happened to encounter and leaving their bodies on the dark streets. The few people who managed to escape ran for help, trying to alert someone.

As Jeremiah left his house, a small group of shapeshifters and two vampires spotted him and attempted to close in from behind without being noticed.

{Dianne awakens from her slumber due to a nearby scream, picking only her head off her pillow, she yells out, not fully conscious of what she was ordering.}"Henderson! Go find who's making that god-awful noise and tell 'em to shut the hell up!"{With that, Dianne falls back to sleep. One of the armor suits, however, walks down the stairs and out the door, towards the sounds of the struggle.}

"Ah, my apologies."
He bows, eyes closing.
"I am Mortikai Ondor. Pleased to meet you, my dear."

A werewolf, in its beast form, burst through the door of Dianne's home and pounced at the suit of armour, thinking there was a human inside.

(Draco/King)

Crowley let out a rather impolite snort. 'What are you, some kind of freak?'

As Jeremiah crept along, he could feel that something was definitely wrong. He put his hand into his coat and turned slightly, spotting the nonhuman group. Upon seeing them, he rises to his full height with a look of utter surprise and speaks.}"Good evening.........."

Thorn nodded approvingly to Mortikai. "Thorn's then name. Nice to meet you too."
She eyed Crowley. "...Why of course. I'm a freak, just like any of us..." she shrugged.

One of the vampires stepped forwards, a smug grin on his face. 'Sorry, Private Investigator, but today we're not here to chat. We're here to do what we've wanted to do for a long, long time.' He made a quick gesture with his hand and about half of the group edged forwards, forming a semicircle around Jeremiah, threatening to attack at any moment.

(Draco/King)

Crowley sneered at Thorn, but eventually decided to introduce himself anyway. 'I'm Crowley. And I'm way better than you, so don't get any ideas about picking a fight.'

{The suit of armour gives no reaction to being pounced. It looks right at the werewolf and speaks in a gutteral voice.}"Shut the hell up and get out. We're closed." {With that, the armour shoves the werewolf off of him with inhuman strength and stands up, facing his assailant.}

(Aggron)

The werewolf grunted in surprise at the suit's strength and backed up a few steps, calling out to his comrades. 'Hey! We're gonna need several people to take this guy down.'
More werewolves swarmed around the suit of armour, one of them grabbing its leg in an effort to unbalance it.

""Freak" is a rather strong word...I think "unique" is better."
Mortikai says while sitting down, curling his tail around himself.

(Loads of people in the city are dying and these three are just sitting around having a normal coversation. XD)

"Oh shut up, featherface." Thorn rolled her eyes at Crowley before adressing Morty. "Very true - if only all humans could see us that way, huh? Most of 'em think we're unnatural freaks."

{Jeremiah looks around at his assailants and speaks calmly.}"Oh. I had a feeling this day would come."{Pulling his hand out of his coat, he quickly removes the pin on an extra-strength teargas grenade and tosses it into the crowd of shifters. The gas itself was designed to overwhelm the senses of beings who have an extremely acute sense of smell. It would still cause pain to others, of course, just not as bad. Jeremiah then runs for the nearest alley while reaching for something else in his coat.//Dam.n it, dam.n it, dam.n it!//}

"At least there are those who don't see us that way."
His ears flick upon hearing a scream in the distance.
"Sounds like someone's having fun."

'Hey, I don't even HAVE any feathers on my face,' Crowley protested. 'Are you blind as well as weird?'

(Aggron)

The werewolves and shapeshifters reeled back, gasping and coughing as the tear gas exploded in their midst, completely incapacitated for the time being, The vampires were less affected, and after staggering away from the gas and taking a moment to recover, four of the younger individuals set off to hunt down Jeremiah.

'Blasted investigator!' growled one irritable vampire.

'Actually, sir,' said one of his allies, 'I think it was US who were blasted.'

'Shut up.'

Bickering over, the four vampires split up and headed down each of the nearby streets and allies, searching for their prey.

Thorn completely ignored Crowley. "They're dropping like flies - I'm pretty sure I heard another scream a few minutes ago."

{Once the armour sees that there are multiple assailants, it lets out an earsplitting shriek and begins to pummel the nearest werewolf with its metal fists. From the glass case on the wall, the Wolf Knight mummy springs to life with its eyes glowing blue. It jumps from its case onto the counter, brandishing two long, thin blades. The second armor suit picks up two hand-and-a-half swords from a broom closet and rushes down stairs. Dianne awakens, fully this time, and gets up. She knew now that something was very wrong. Taking a large, black greatsword off the wall, she exits the room.}

Meanwhile, the northern force of non-humans were starting to approach the area that contained the school, the ophanage and the park.

Now aware of what had caught the others' attention, Crowley cocked his head and listened hard for a few moments. '...Wow, is there some kind of riot going on out there?'

{Jeremiah puts on his gas mask and hides in an alleyway. Pulling out his phone, he dials the police.} (So, @Radiant does he get through, or are the police 'unavailable' at this time? Hint, hint, wink, wink? ;))

(Aggron)

The werewolves rapidly fell back as they saw more opponents coming at them, brandishing a variety of weapons. 'I don't think they're human!' snarled the leader of the group, retreating as he realised his blows had little effect on the armoured figure. 'Pull back - lure them out of the building!'

(Aggron: Your choice. I'll go with whatever happens. >:))

{The draugrs approached the werewolves, weapons in hand, until a voice ordered them to stop. Dianne appears from the stairwell, large sword slung over her shoulder, and without glasses to hide her eyes. She approaches the doorway and addresses the werewolf who looks like the leader.}"What the hell do you people think you're doing?! People are trying to sleep!"

(Aggron)

The werewolf stood on its hind legs and snarled at her, careful not to get too close. 'Sleep? Haven't you got a clue what's going on?' He noticed her eyes, hesitated, then said, 'You're obviously not human, so we don't need to hurt you. Back off, and we'll all leave you alone.'

(Draco and King are you ded)

{Dianne became very agitated at this remark.}"Us back off? You're in //my// store! Get your flea-bitten, mangy as.ses out of my sight or else!" {The draugrs close ranks in front of Dianne and snarl at the werewolves.}

"Maybe. Either humans or non-humans. Shall we take a look?"

The sound of screaming woke Keenan up first. Then, his father's yells. He tumbles out of bed, grabbing his eyepatch and clumsily stringing it over his normal eye, blinking to get used to the nightvision as he runs down the hall, feeling electricity tingling in his palms. The roar of his father's lion form spurs him on as he slams into the vampire/shapeshifter duo attacking him, pouring charges into their bodies. They both yell out and try to scramble out the door. Growling, Keenan looks to his father.
"Lock up. I'm going out."
"Keenan, stop-!"
Ignoring his father, he runs out after them. A black cloud covers his vision, the boy recognising it instantly. He drops onto a knee, looking down.
"Brink."
/Keenan. I need you to protect some...assets./
"Where do you need me?"
/The area near the park and the orphanage. You know it?/
"Of course."
/Then go. Prove your worth./

The werewolf group turned and ran out of the building, but the leader stubbornly stayed where he was and shouted, 'You were the one who sent the blo.ody suit of armour out to attack us! And how dare you talk to us like that! In a few days our leader is going to be in complete control of this city - including your pathetic little shop!'

{Jeremiah curses as his attempts to reach the police are unsuccessful.//Da.mn it! Too many people are trying to call at once! I keep getting a busy signal!// Jeremiah put his phone away and stands up. //I need to get to the station myself. If not to get help, then alert the National Guard and the government.// Jeremiah pulls out his revolver and a stake and begins to sneak out of the alley, carefully watching above, behind, and corners.//}

{Dianne pauses when she hears more screaming. Suddenly, things start to click in her mind.}"Wait, what the hell is happening out there? Who is this boss of yours?"

The four young vampires quickly lost Jeremiah's trail in the maze of streets. But in the sky overhead, a shapeshifter in the form of a golden eagle spotted the investigator making his way through an alley below. She dived down, landed in front of him and returned to her human form, pulling out a long dagger that glinted in the moonlight. 'You've picked the wrong night to go wandering about, HUMAN,' she said threateningly.
Behind Jeremiah, three more bird shapeshifters landed and changed to human form. They all carried knives or similar bladed weapons - none had guns or anything more advanced.

"I don't see why not," Thorn stretched. "Let's go, there might be bodies."

(Aggron)

'Don't you know already?' the werewolf sneered. 'Our boss has spent the last six months raising an army to take back what's ours. Shacklestone will be a purely human-free city again.'

(I kinda gotta go, it's really late here.)

Once out of the building, Keenan transforms into his lion form, deciding that it would be much quicker to travel by four legs than just two, and heads in the direction he was told to go. He wasn't sure who or what Brink wanted him to protect, but he'd gladly do it. Static crackles in his short mane as he runs, building up tiny charges of electricity.

(Yeah, same, I'm getting yelled at XD)

{Jeremiah looks about at his advesaries.}"Son of a-!" {He quickly rushes the singular shifter, firing multiple rounds at her. //If she stays stays still, she'll get hit. If she moves, that will give me room to run past her.//}
