Another underdog in the grand scheme of things. Vic is such a comedic tragedy, it’s hard for me not to enjoy writing him. That’s the thing with this one, though. He stands out more in quirkiness and behavior than my other characters, but there’s not a whole lot to write about when it comes to his past. At least, not much of anything I plan on disclosing yet.

Victor was still an egg when the apocalypse struck. While nothing of great importance seemed to have affected the family of ravens at first, things grew wholly dire when all of the offspring died upon hatching, revealing horrendously malformed bodies. Only one survived. While the chick still suffered from deformities, they were not as apparent. Paired with the chick’s growing rate and defiance against any inconveniences, it was obvious that any effect that killed his brothers and sisters would only make him stronger.
The fledgling took little time to grow and eventually surpass the size of other birds. It was around then that the land surrounding the nest became toxic to the point of killing all pre-existing life in the area, including his parents. Shaken, but not unprepared, the young bird set off in search of a new place to call home.
Victor remembers none of this, however. Whether it be from memory loss due to abnormal brain function, or thanks to an infinite supply of denial, Victor has no true memory of his beginnings. He does remember spending a lot of time alone, though. For years, he tried to fit within the comradery of various groups of birds, but he was never accepted. With each rejection he started to notice a pattern… the birds that the apocalypse was not kind to were sheltered without question. Praised, even, for things as simple as waking up in the morning. The more Victor saw this, the angrier he became. Here he is, travelling vast distances just for a rest, yet he’s kicked out at a moment’s notice. All the while, these horrifying, utterly disgusting masses of feathers are rewarded for their greatness despite being freaks in the eyes of nature.
Eyes of nature… huh. Maybe that’s what Victor was meant to do. More often than not, it seemed like he was the only one thinking clearly. Seeing things for what they actually are. These birds… they are nothing more than an abnormality. A mutation that needs to be purged. Yes, of course, and who would be better for completing this task than a bird like him? These insights, this strength, it must be a gift from nature itself to help Victor be rid of the parasites plaguing his people. Only he could do it. This was his birthright.
Thus, Victor descended upon every altered bird he could get his talons on. He took great pride in the eradication of countless birds, claiming that it was for paving the way to better evolution. The more he descended into this delusion, the more the grandeur of his self-image grew. He believes himself to be the ultimate bird, something a hundred steps forward in natural development, and thus has the absolute right to artificial selection. This view has garnered him little support and many enemies, but if this is what must be done for the survival of his kind in this new world, then he wouldn’t have it any other way.

The apocalypse may have ruined the bloodlines of many species, but creatures that received benefits, like Victor, are the most dangerous of them all. While his size, strength, and intelligence were amplified, his mind is deeply corrupt. Nobody has yet succeeded in completely ending his wave of violence, but he has been increasingly thwarted by a small group of shadowy bats…
Also, he speaks with a very distinctive New England-based accent. Nobody’s quite sure how he developed that, though.

Me, if Ryan's old crowsona fused with my brain.

okay though dumb "me" jokes aside this is as brilliant as the rest of the lot, which is saying something, since the rest of the lot hold pretty lofty standards
