To sum it up. Kirena's parents sold her to people who promised they would make them rich, and well they did make them rich, until her parents took the money and ran without Kirena. Leaving her with the people who forced her to dance when she didn't want too. So pretty much Kirena drinks to wash her problems away, and she has memories of being locked in a cage.
