is that a horse by Rip-Tooth

This,
is a jaiger. The aliens of mine that I've mentioned many times before but have never posted anything of here. Until now.

They're my pride and joy that I've been putting tons of love and care into ever since I first made them yeaaars ago. They've grown so much since then and I still have so many big plans for them.

I could talk about them for hours, and I might just write a bit about them in the comments later for anyone interested in them WHY ARE DESCS SO SHORT EEUUGHH

If you edit a description through colorslive, I'm preeetty sure you can add much more to it than what colors 3d allows. :^)

It's how ShadowPikaboo and BloodHybrid write such long descriptions.

And I like reading about species & characters so post dat info about em and I'll be soaking it in.

Didn't add any writies last night because it was already 3 AM when I posted this, but now I have time.

Jaigers, as stated before, are aliens; they're a sapient species hailing from Heidin, a planet which has many paralells to our Earth, where interestingly life has developed in very familiar ways. Jaigers, by definition, are mammals, and are almost unsettlingly akin to humans despite obvious physical differences. From how they came to be to how they live and behave now, it's almost as if they're an odd parody of humanity... only, they and Heidin have existed longer than us and Earth, and it shows.

If you wanna talk their anatomy, my main objective was to make an alien species that looks like it COULD exist on Earth, but doesn't. I took bits and pieces of so many different animals that it's hard to say "oh, yeah, that thing's definitely based on X animal"; I meshed all these parts together in a way that's odd and just barely otherworldly purely for the fact that we don't have anything quiiite like it, yet it still feels believable and functional. I have a huge love for alien (or species in general) designs like that; one of my biggest pet peeves is when alien designs are made on the basis of... poorly executed shock factor, like where they're legit just a dog or a human with extra features glued on until "OH GOD THAT'S SO WEIRD IT'S GOTTA BE AN ALIEN" when it's just A MAN WITH NEON BLUE SKIN AND 50 EYES AND 12 BUTTS. p lease no im dying inside and I'm also RAMBLING. IT'S LATE AGAIN.

haha "12 butts". ANYWAYS-- man I'm at that point where there's still so much that I don't even know where to go from here, too many options. I'll rewrite this all better in online comments I'm sure, but for now I'll WING IT.

Jaigers aren't firmly set in any one age. I've given them several "eras" that all together encompass their very beginnings as a species, to beyond what I consider present-day for them. The present-day era, titled "Present-reign", would look very futuristic to us. By this time, jaigers are well into advanced space travel and inhabit multiple planets instead of just Heidin, one such planet especially worthy of note is Tross. We'll talk about Tross later.

This era's title is in reference to Rhashalla's reign. That is, Empress Rhashalla, the sole ruler of the Jaiger Empire for a majority of her life.

Since the early days of their civilization, many jaiger populations have had an empire-like structure, but it wasn't until around the age we're in now that one of these rose among the rest and grew as a unifying force that would over time include the whole of jaiger-kind, lead by many different dedicated people, but perhaps most notably by the two who'd wear the titles of Emperor and Empress, the supreme rulers of each era. Finally, after centuries of progress crippling wars, this unity would allow the species to progress in amazing ways.

The road to becoming one of the vast Empire's rulers is not by any means easy. In fact, you have to start work for it from birth. It's a big complex process to ensure that whoever is next in line is fit to rule in a way most beneficial to the people and species as a whole. I could elaborate but oogh that'd take a while.

So, maybe you noticed I said there were meant to be /two/ supreme rulers but I didn't mention an emperor alongside Rhashalla, HMM??

That was fully intentional and there's a story behind that as well.

There was an emperor who was coronated with Rhashalla, his name was Vasoova. The two trained for their future roles together (which they weren't guaranteed to get either at all, or with each other, for the record) and were extremely close; the two were absolutely thrilled to have made it. However, there were still many people who remembered what had previously happened.

Several eras ago there was an emperor who shared blood with Rhashalla, and he was... pretty awful to say the least. He undid a large amount of progress the Empire made and got many killed, so it's a bit understandable they wouldn't want to accept somebody related to him. They didn't want to accept Rhashalla to a point where a handful of them attempted to murder her in the new era's very early days,

but they ended up killing somebody else. Vasoova, in fact. BOY DID THAT SUCK LOL RIP.

They tried to bring in those who fell just behind Vasoova in getting his place, one after another to fill the role as they don't like having just one person in the highest up position (unless one of an elder duo passes, but even then, a new two are coronated soon after), but none of them worked out. Rhashalla was expectedly devastated and nobody could replace who she'd lost, and because she has the most say in it, no new emperor was coronated for the remainder of her life. But DANG SON if she wasn't one of the best leaders they'd had in a very, very long time.

I fricking
love
Rhashalla?? so much...... So many great advancements were made under her care and I still get extremely feelsy about a Specific Thing that happens involving her (that's not related to Vasoova). And I'm going to leave you all wondering what the he.ll that "thing" is. HA.
