Mikayla was born in a tribal village in the outskirts of Atrus. Her childhood was difficult, as she endured countless harassment because of her skin. She was primarily raised by her mother as her father assumed the title of chieftain during her adolescence. They both loved her very much and taught her to accept who she is. As she matured, she proved to be a spirited fighter with a strong work ethic. Desperate to explore the outside world, she left her village at the age of 18 much to the disapproval of her father. She struggled to find work; however, her lack of success allowed her time to practice her combat. Having finally acquired a stable job as a hairdresser, Mikayla worked laboriously to appease her superiors. Despite her busy work schedule she continued to practice her fighting. One day, a green haired boy stumbled upon her training and requested that she come with him to meet his cousin, Zona. After displaying her hand to hand combat capabilities and lance work, Jaime asked if she would like to become his retainer.
