YESSS tracing is bad, buuut im only salty about it if it's being done to essentially steal art. ive seen people swear that tracing stuff is a good thing (like idk photographs you took and stuff) but ive never done it ever, so i dunno. i guess it could be handy and helpful, but ive always preferred using visual reference for things. when you use visual/eye ref, you still gotta figure out some sh,it, which makes it more challenging and probably makes it stick in your mind better.
using visual refs gets better and better as you get a better understanding of things, too (from my experience, anyway)
