The pattern and markings on them can be different for each one.
They Have 4 toes, including they're duclaw/ thumb.
They have feathery antennas/ears with gemstones like spheres at the tip
Fairfin use their antennas from lot of things other then for hearing, they can also pick up feeling of others kind of like a pet does.
Fairfin can also change color with strong emotions, these colors very from Fairfin to Fairfin, what might be a sad color for one Fairfin might be a happy for another, usually only there family/ pod, there Bond partner, and friends would pick up on what color is for what emotion they Flair
Fairfin are also telepath they can speak to Other Fairfin and they Bond partner, they can speak to Others but they have to from a link first and they only do the with trusted others
(There a lot more to but I'll have to get to that letter)

For an example Rihanna color for her emotions are
Hope/courageous: White
Sad: pale bluish green
Happy: bright sky blue.
Irritated: Orange
Angry: red
Sick: pale Green
Blushing: pink
It's called a Flare they glow to them will flare to this color then go back to there normal color, depending how strong the emotions is they can hold this flare longer

Re: They will have to from a 'link' with them, but yes. This is done with there Bond partner and the one they are forming a link with. The Fairfin first have to get permission from there partner and the other, if both agree then the link can be made, the Fairfin will touch the one the wish to link with and there Bond partner wings will glow amplifying the Fairfin power as they make a link, they all will glow for a little while as the Fairfin connects there though with the other, a Fairfin can only read the surface thoughts of someone, they can not dig through someone memory of them, it's pretty much like taking on a phone.

Re: yes, a Fairfin can sense the aura Other Fairfin that are in the area, even ones that are not connected to their pod. Fairfin can pick up the aura of there Bond partner and follow it, they can only follow the aura of other Fairfin and their Bond partner. A Fairfin can also sense others to some degree. A Fairfin usually can guess that a Dream is near if they pick up on a another Fairfin, expecially if they are outside of the land of Dreams, (a Fairfin can not travel without they Dreamer partner in Otherworld, they can die if they get separated long distance from them,)
Fairfin can sense some dark creatures it's more of a feeling in there gut then anything, but there are dark creature that can block a Fairfin sense even to the point where they don't feel there partner, and that is one of a Fairfin great fears is to be alone, since hatching from a pool of memories they are always around others starting with there pod, a pod can anywhere between 50 to a couple thousand members in them, so a Fairfin is never a a loan since the day they hatch,( they are still shy Fairfin that like their privacy, but it's like being at home in your room, you might be alone in your room but know someone is still in the house with you, so you don't have to worry)
