Random fun fact, that building was originally going to be the bar that everyone seems to end up in, but I got too lazy to finish it so now it's just a building.

( @Radiant Ok!) {In response to Armin's sudden aggressive body language and tone, Jeremiah scoots his chair a little further from the table to give himself an easy escape, should this vampire become violent.}"Now, I wouldn't know much more about the murder than you would, I'd imagine. Please, sit down, sir. Don't make a scene.

Finy wandered out of his apartment complex, sighing and looking worn out, he still didn't have a job and was at the point where he'd consider committing crimes.

On the outskirts of Shacklestone, a group of figures were half-hidden in the shadows of an alleyway. None of them were human; some had glowing crimson eyes and others had taken the forms of various animals, including a huge black panther, a wolf, and a vicious-looking dragon.
At the back of the group stood a single tall vampire, the same one who Arminus had spoken to earlier that day. The one known as Count Sargon.
'Are you prepared for the first part of the plan?' he asked, his tone low but clearly heard among the creatures.
A general murmur of assent went up, and a few of them shifted back into their human forms before starting to move out in the direction of the main city.
'Remember,' said the Count, 'killings in broad daylight will attract far more attention... even the police will not be able to hide the truth, and before long the city will be in chaos.'
He turned away and smiled slightly to himself as the last of the shapeshifters disappeared. His plan was only just beginning...

(Aggron)

'A scene? Why would I think of causing a scene?' said Armin, settling back into his chair and folding his hands together on the tabletop. 'Maybe you shouldn't talk to people like that if you don't want to draw attention to yourself.

(Blood/anyone)

Crowley ran down the street, throwing himself behind row of shrubs to avoid being seen. Seconds later, a police car drove past, then continued on its way when it couldn't find the young crowdragon.
Crowley peered out warily to make sure the coast was clear, then let out a huff of mixed relief and exasperation. 'I knew robbing that place was a bad idea.' He walked onwards more cautiously, gripping a small bag and trying to appear casual.

(Gonna be super slow for a while, Finishing a base)

Finy had seen Crowley hide away and stood there with a puzzled expression, when he came out of hiding, he lifted a brow at him, "Life of crime is hard isn't it?" he grins toothily

(Blood: No problem.)

Crowley stared at Finy for a moment before seeming to recognise him. 'At least I have money,' he said, keeping his voice at a rushed whisper in case someone overheard them talking about stealing. 'And it looks like your life is pretty hard right now, too. Sure you don't want some help?'

{Jeremiah settles back into his chair.}"Draw attention to myself? Buddy, before you sat back down, you looked like you wanted to come over this table and hurt me. Before that, you started a conversation with me with no provacation. If anyone here's attracting needless attention to themselves, it's you."

Armin smiled slightly, almost instantly regaining his usual calm demeanour. 'I don't think that's exactly what happened, but in any case, I'm sorry for acting aggressive. I just don't like people like you. But I'll try to be more respectful from now on.'

(Aggron: It wasn't a shop, he broke into some rich person's house and took their money.)

(*protectively grips toaster* s'all right bill)

(Draco: You wanna do more stuff with Sheld and Tochi?)

Ango laughs lightly at the two dogs.
"C'mon you two, get along. We'll drop this off at home-"
She shrugs a little, making the flowerpot in her arms move up and down.
"-and we'll go and head off somewhere!"

{Jeremiah smiled.}"Thank you. Now, I wonder where that waitress is?

(Aggron)

'She's remarkably slow,' replied Arminus. He raised his voice pointedly so that the people in the bar could hear him. 'I'd quite like a drink before I go, considering the effort it took to get here.'
A few seconds later, the nervous-looking waitress reappeared and walked over to them.
'Hello, can I get you two anything?' she asked them both, trying to avoid eye contact with Arminus.

Jed poked his tounge out and gave Ango a doggy grin. //How strange she hasn't noticed my eyes... maybe you find many red-eyed dogs around here? Oh well, it's better if she doesn't yet know what I am.//

{Jeremiah raises a hand towards the waitress.}"Whiskey, please."

"Uh huh" Finy narrowed his eyes at Crowley, "What kind of help?"

(Draco)

Sheldon stuffed his hands into his pockets and looked at Tochi shyly. 'So, uhm, now we're here... what should we do?'

(Aggron)

The waitress nodded and smiled uncertainly. 'Alright, sir.' She finally looked across at Arminus. 'And what about you, sir?' There was no hostility in her voice, but she sounded wary.
'I'll have the same as him,' the vampire replied.
The waitress nodded again and hurried back inside the bar to fetch their drinks. Armin glanced at Jeremiah. 'Is there anything in particular you'd like to talk about, since as we're here?'

(Blood)

Crowley lounged against a streetlamp, relaxing slightly now that the police were out of sight. 'Simple. Be a thief like me. We'll help each other to steal stuff, and we'll share our earnings. I could use the help, and you're obviously in a desperate situation. Win-win.'

@Radiant
"Hmm. We could play a board game, but first, fancy anything to drink?" Tochi offered. "I've got orange juice, tea, milk or water."

Finy scowled for a few moments, he couldn't deny it would be easier, he couldn't deny how hungry he was and how when he opened his pockets they blew dust out at him. He sighs and runs a hand through his snowy white hair and nods, "Alright, I'll join ya"

(Draco)

'Oh. That would... be nice,' said Sheldon. 'What sort of game exactly...? I've only played chess and checkers.' Remembering that she'd offered him a drink, he hastily added, 'Uhm, I'll have an orange juice if that's alright.'

{Jeremiah strokes his chin in response to Armin's question.}"I suppose there is just one last thing I'd like to talk about, while we're here. Your opinion, as a non-human entity, on the murders that have been ocurring."

Tobias trots around the corner, walking ahead a little, seeming to know the way.
A couple of kids are kicking a ball around about halfway down the street, the sight of which makes Ango groan a little.

(Blood)

Crowley practically grinned from ear to ear. 'Good choice, buddy,' he said, grabbing Finy's hand without warning and shaking it enthusiastically. 'I gotta get some more cash today, so how about you come with me? It'll be good practice for ya.'

@Radiant
"I've got a checkers board, I also have Monopoly if you want to learn how to play that." Tochi told him, hurrying to the fridge to get his juice?

'My opinion... hmmm.' Armin leaned back comfortably in his chair and pretended to think for a while. Finally he said, 'I'm not impressed by what other members of my race have been doing, but I can't say I have any strong feelings towards it. It doesn't matter to me if humans are killed... But I AM curious to know who's behind these murders.'

Finy tensed up when he suddenly grabbed him, his hands and entire body was as cold as ice. "Sure, where are we going?"

Jed looked up at Ango with a puzzled expression. //What's so bad about these kids? Are they not very nice...?//

(Draco)

'Um, well, anything is fine with me... I suppose.' Sheldon trawled after her, following her into the kitchen like a lost puppy. 'Whatever you want to do.'

(Blood)

Crowley quickly released Finy's hand from his grip, noticing how cold it was, but not bothering to say anything. 'We're gonna visit a house just around the corner from here. I've stolen from there before - the owners are completely oblivious.' He smirked and started walking.

Meanwhile, hidden from the public's view, the group of shapeshifters commanded by the Count were slowly beginning to spread themselves throughout the city.

Finy shook out his hand and stuffed his hands into his hoodie's pouch. Following behind Crowley, "Okay, so we just go in and steal what we see?"

@Anyone

Mortikai slumps down against a bench in a small bus shelter, a large square bandage stuck over his face where he had been slashed not long before. He brings some kind of flask out of his coat pocket, unscrewing the lid and bringing it to his lips. He looks around with a tired look in his eyes - all the events happening in the past few hours had taken a lot out of him.

(Blood)

Crowley let out a short, harsh bark of laughter. 'Well, we don't just run in and grab stuff at random. We only take what's valuable. And we don't take too much, else the owners will notice the loss, no matter how stupid they are.'

@Radiant
"We'll play Checkers, since you know how it's done," Tochi smiled, getting a glass down from the kitchen shelf and pouring juice into it. She handed the glass to Sheldon then got another one for herself.

{Jeremiah smiled a little.}"Y'know, you'd be surprised how many people I've asked said they didn't give a damn about the people getting murdered. Not all of them non-human either. I'm not sure whether or not I should be concerned about that, but it is a little troubling. As for who's behind it all, I'd like to know just as much as you do."

(Draco)

'Oh, OK,' said Sheldon timidly. 'We'll do that.' He took his drink and sipped at it slowly while watching her.

Finy grimaced at his laugh, "Well I know that much" he huffs and keeps following him, curious and nervous to where they're going.

(Aggron)

Armin was about to answer when he suddenly paused, glancing across the street. There was nobody there. After a few seconds he returned his attention to Jeremiah, his smile a little more strained than usual. 'Oh, sorry,' he said. 'I got distracted. Yes, I'd very much like to know who's behind the killings. I might not care a whole lot for the victims, but I'm curious as to what kind of murderer would be powerful enough to kill all these people and still go undetected.'

@Draco

One of the kids notices them, grins, and begins to walk over.
"Howzit goin' freakshow? Off to talk to your braindead mommy again?"
One or two other the other kids laugh, but it seems nervous and unsure. Tobias begins to growl, his head lowering slightly.
"Back off Freddy. I'd doubt that you'd like a police-grade dog tearing at your arm."
Ango says as she manouvers herself to stand between the boy and the two dogs, plantpot tucked firmly in her arms.

Tochi poured the orange juice into the glass and took a sip, watching Sheldon back.

(Blood)

'Sure you did.' Crowley leads them along the same street for a short way before pausing and turning into another street. Up ahead was a large two-storey house, obviously quite expensive. 'C'mon, we'll sneak up from the front. The owners are always out at this time of day.'

Jed peered at the Freddy with distaste. //I was right, then. How very rude. If he says anything too bad, Toby won't be the only dog tearing his arm.//

(Draco)

Sheldon fidgeted uncomfortably at the scrutinity and quickly gulped down half his drink in one go. 'So, um, a-are we going to play a game now?' he asked nervously.

Finy peers over at the house, "Wow" he breathes out, "It's huge! What if someone sees us break in the front though?"

@Radiant
"Oh right, I'll go get the board. We can play with Pudding too." Tochi put her drink down and left, not explaining who or what Pudding was.

{Jeremiah turns, also looking where Armin was glancing. Seeing nothing, he continues.}"Well, power of the individual might have nothing to do with the killer's evasion of the authorities. It could just be the Bystander Effect. Some people could hear a victim in distress, and do nothing, assuming that someone else would come along or that someone else would call the police. In the end, because everyone assumes that someone else will do it, no one gets called, and the killer runs free. As a result, fewer bodies are found because the killer has all the time in the world to hide them."

(Blood)

Crowley shrugged and threw his long scarf over his shoulder to keep it out of the way. 'Nobody's ever noticed me before,' he replied. 'I don't think the neighbours care anyway. The owners of this place are rich snobs who treat everyone like dirt. Nobody gives a dam.n if they get robbed.' He smirked a little and began to edge forwards.

Finy hesitated then followed behind him closely and nervously, he'd never robbed anywhere before, just mugged people on the streets.

(Draco)

Sheldon blinked. 'Uhm. OK.' He hurried back into Tochi's living room and settled down comfortably on the couch. //Tochi's so nice to let me come here. I'm sure she's got more interesting things to do than play games witg me!//

(Aggron)

Armin inspected at his fingernails, looking a little bored. 'I like your theory,' he said. 'But that doesn't explain why the corpse found this morning was so poorly hidden. Thrown into an alleyway right outside the school? The killer must have known someone would find it before long. Maybe they were in a hurry...'

(Blood)

Crowley allowed himself to get right outside the house before he paused, hiding behind a wall in the front yard. He looked over his shoulder at Finy and said, 'Just to be extra safe, we'll climb in through the side window rather than the door. That way, we won't have to pick any locks.' He smirked and added teasingly, 'Heheh, this is almost like a date.'

There was half a minute with no Tochi, and then she reappeared carrying an old cardboard box and something small, fluffy and caramel-coloured.

Finy hid beside him and looked over the wall at the house, "Okay" he blinks and looks to Crowley with a disgusted look, "Not in your wettest dreams"

(Draco)

Sheldon sat up straighter and folded his hands together on his lap when Tochi reappeared. 'Oh, Tochi - wait, what's THAT?' he asked, spotting the fluffy... thing she was carrying.

@Draco

The other kids stay where they are, except for one. They begin to edge towards the door to the large building nearby, presumably to fetch an adult.
Freddy simply laughs at them.
"You think I'm afraid of a couple of mutts?"
"You da.mn well should be."
"Ooh, temper temper."
He grins, seeming to be enjoying what he's doing.

(Blood)

Crowley snickered. 'Alright buddy, don't get your underwear in a twist. C'mon, follow me.' Moving quickly and quietly, he walked up to the ajar window in the side of the house and began to push it open enough to climb inside.

Finy frowned and followed him, again, to the window. Waiting for him to crawl inside, he looked around nervously to make sure no one was watching

{Jeremiah tilts his head.}"Yeah, that little detail just doesn't add up. Maybe the killer just got sloppy this time. Or, maybe the bodies we've found they wanted us to find, for some reason or another. Or, like you just said, maybe they were in a hurry. There's a lot we don't know about all this."

@Radiant
"This is Pudding!" Tochi said, putting the fluffy thing on the coffee table. It was a hamster. "She's the one I got from your mum's shop."

@King
Jed began to growl quietly, edging slowly closer to Freddy. //Stay away from my new mistress, you disrespectful child!//

(Aggron)

Rather belatedly, the waitress returned with their drinks, set them down on the table, nodded silently and walked back inside. before leaving in silence.
Armin reached for his whiskey. 'I don't suppose we'll know anything unless the killer decides to tell us,' he said humorously. His gaze once again returned to the opposite street, as if he could see something Jeremiah couldn't.

(whoops, ignore the 'leaving in silence' bit)

'Oh,' said Sheldon again, slightly relieved that it was only a hamster. He leaned back again and let himself relax slightly, waiting for Tochi to set up the game board for them. His mind kept returning to the murder earlier that morning, and he shivered at the thought of what might be lurking outside in the city's shadows.

(Blood)

Crowley easily got his thin frame through the window, dropping down onto the floor inside the house and looking around. They were in a long corridor with doors leading off into various rooms. Everything was luxuriously decorated. 'Yep, looks the same as always,' he whispered. 'These people have so much cra.p, they don't even notice when I take it.'

Finy squeezed in after him, flopping onto the floor below, he stands up and brushes himself off, taking a few moments to look around, "Whoa!"

@Radiant
Oblivious to Sheldon's worries, Tochi set up the board. Sheldon had the white pieces. "You want to make the first move?" She asked, petting Pudding as the little fluffball explored the table.

{Jeremiah, now feeling a bit confused as to what Armin keeps looking at, turns to see nothing once again.}"Yep, from the looks of things, until we can catch the culprit, we won't know anything about their motives."{Jeremiah picks up his drink and takes a sip.}

(Blood)

'I know, right?' said Crowley, looking pleased by Finy's exclamation. 'From here on out, I don't follow any plan. We just grab whatever we see that looks valuable. Coins, jewellry, anything really.' He shrugged and adjusted his scarf again.

(Draco)

Sheldon examined the board for a few moments, then moved one of his checkers forwards. While they were both absorbed in the game, it seemed like a good time to voice what was on his mind. 'Tochi, what will we do if... if the murders keep on happening? What if things get worse...?'

Finy nods, "Okay" he starts moving down the hall and opens a door, going in to see it was a female's room, he noticed a jewelry box but froze for a few moments, "I shouldn't be in a ladies room" he whispers to himself.

(Aggron)

Armin nodded in wordless agreement and took a swallow of his own drink. 'Out of curiosity, do you or the police know /anything/ about this murderer? Has he ever been seen, even for a moment?'

(Blood)

'Like she's ever going to know you were in here,' Crowley scoffed, having been following Finy. 'What's the matter? Backing out already?' He turned to grab a small wallet off a side shelf, grinning as he checked its contents.

"Ick" Finy creeps forward and opens the box, finding expensive looking jewelry and money stashed underneath it. He takes all of it and stuffs it in his hoodie's pouch, guilt worming in his gut. "Okay, Are we done?"

Tochi didn't speak for a moment. When she did, she didn't look up from the game. "I don't think it'll be too long before the murderer is caught, but... if it gets too bad, my parents will probably decide to move out of town, which means I wouldn't be able to see you so often..."

(Blood)

Crowley considered for a moment, re-checking the amount of money in the wallet. 'Yeah. I guess we've got enough for now.' He left the ladies' room and walked quickly back to the open window. 'If you've got anything that's not cash, you can go sell it. You'll probably get a lot of monety for things like this.'

Sheldon's breath caught momentarily in his chest, but he tried not to show any outward signs of fear. 'Y-you can't leave,' he whispered, mindlessly pushing another checker forwards. 'You're the only person in this whole city who actually LIKES me. I - oh, darnit.' He hung his head, feeling pathetic. 'I don't want you to go anywhere.'

{Jeremiah takes another drink then shakes his head.//Funny you should ask that. Trying to get me to show my hand. I know you heard more than I'd like you to have last night at the bar.//}"Just the same description they released six months ago. Vampire, red eyes, blond hair. Only problem is there are so many blond, red eyed vampires in the city that it borderlines on the stereotypical. It's not much to go on."

(Blood)

Outside the house Crowley and Finy had broken into, a couple of shapeshifters, in their human forms, were skulking around as if waiting for something.

(Aggron)

Armin smirked slightly, as if enjoying some private joke. 'Indeed it does,' he replied. 'I know a multitude of vampires who fit that description. Besides, all of us have red eyes, so that isn't much of a clue.' He lifted his glass to his lips, then paused. 'I'd advise you to be careful, Investigator. A human like you - a human working to solve these mysteries - is in more danger than most. You could well end up being the killer's next target.'

(Wonder where King went?)

Tochi put a hand on Sheldon'a shoulder. "I don't want to leave either, and I promise I won't unless the murders start getting too ridiculous. And if I do have to go, maybe you can leave town too? We'll both be safe and we'll still be able to hang out."

(kiiiing why would yoy leave us D:)

(Draco)

Sheldon's shoulders slumped. 'I hope so,' he said softly. 'Maybe... maybe I can convince my parents to leave the city as well... but I don't really know if they WOULD.' He took another move and captured one of Tochi's checkers.

Arminus finished his whiskey and set the empty glass on the table before swiftly standing up. 'Well, Investigator, it's been refreshing chatting with you. But I have other places I need to be.' He reached into his pocket with his damaged hand and withdrew a few coins, which he also set down on the tabletop. 'Enough to pay for both our drinks,' he explained.

@Radiant
"I'm sure you could convince them - they must be scared too," Tochi moved one of her own pieces and stopped Pudding from falling off the table.

(Draco)

'Mhm.' Sheldon looked down blankly at the checkers board for a moment. Just as he was about to take his move, a distant scream echoed from somewhere outside the house. He instantly leapt off the couch to his feet, nearly knocking the game board over. 'Wh-what was that?' he yelped, his voice rising to a squeak.

@Radiant
Tochi got to her feet and scooped up Pudding. "Don't panic, don't panic, it sounded quite far away... oh dear, so soon after the last one..." she whispered, trying to keep her voice steady. "Maybe we should close all the curtains just in case, we don't want anyone dangerous knowing we're in."

{Jeremiah looks down with surprise.}"Oh, how kind of you. Thank you. Farewell, friend." {Jeremiah takes another sip of his drink.}

(Draco)

'B-but what if someone's h-hurt out there?' Sheldon stammered. 'Maybe they weren't, uhm, murdered. Maybe they've just been attacked and they need help...' //Gosh darnit Sheldon, you pick the worst moments to suddenly turn heroic!// he thought frantically.

The bully jumps back a little at the appearance of Jed, but quickly regains his posture.
"Pfft, what's that? Collecting mutts for your gang?"
"Yeah, to tear your bl.oody-!"
She's cut off as a yell echoes across the street, bringing the attention off all the children to the woman stood at the huge doors, the child that went to fetch help close to her.
"Fredrick! Inside, now!"
"B-but miss, I wasn't doing nothing!"
"Double negatives, Fredrick. My office. Now."
Reluctantly, he walks into the building, muttering something under his breath. Tobias continues to growl until the doors are shut, after which he looks to Jed with gratitude for his help. Ango sighs softly.
"Thanks guys."

(Aggron)

'No problem, Investigator. Consider it a token of my appreciation. You've been surprisingly respectful to me... for a human.' Arminus turned and began to walk away from the bar, not glancing back, but his sensitive hearing would pick it up if Jeremiah said anything in response. His steps grew progressively quicker the further he walked, as if he were in a hurry.

Mortikai looks up from his flask, mind swimming from the alcohol a little. He thought that he had heard a scream, though it sounded distant. Shrugging a little, he decides that enough was enough. If it was another murder, he'd hear about it later. He'd had enough excitement for one day.

The bartender looked up from the drinks he was pouring. 'Yeah, he goes by Armin,' he replied. 'That's probably a nickname, though. Why're you asking? You'd better not be trying to cause trouble, the guy's one of my most loyal customers.'

Sheldon almost shook his head and said no, but then reminded himself of why he'd spoken up in the first place. //There might be someone injured - dying - out there...//
He looked at Tochi and nodded. 'Let's - let's just sneak outside and take a quick look.'

(Draco: We should stop in a minute since as it's only us left, but I want to get to the cliffhanger I had planned first.)

"A...all right." Tochi nodded. "I'll just put Pudding back in her cage." She took the hamster out of the room and came back a moment later. "We should get something to defend ourselves too," she told Sheldon and left again, this time to the kitchen, and reappeared holding two knives. "Here. Now we're ready."

Sheldon stared blankly at the knife as if he'd never seen one before. Then he snapped out of it and headed down the front hallway to the door, trying hard to hide how much his arm was trembling as he held the blade aloft. 'S-stay close to me,' he whispered as he pushed the door open. Partly because he wanted to protect her, and partly to reassure himself that he wasn't alone.

Tochi stayed by Sheldon's side, gripping her own knife with her hand in her pocket so she didn't look suspicious carrying it around. "I think the scream came from over there." She pointed to the east of where they were standing

'I know...' Sheldon began to walk in that direction, his chestnut eyes flicking from place to place, on high alert for potential dangers. Suddenly, a gasp escaped him as he spotted something lying motionless behind some shrubbery... it was a young boy, about nine years old. He was unconscious and bleeding profusely from several gashes, but he was still breathing.
'Tochi! Can you - can you call an ambulance?' Sheldon said, staring down at the boy and wringing his hands anxiously.

"Right away..." Tochi hurriedly pulled out her phone, dialing with shaky fingers. "Try and slow the bleeding with something, if there are any bits of cloth or something lying around."

'Uhm, yes, o-of course, yes,' Sheldon mumbled almost incoherently. He looked around for something to staunch the kid's wounds and, seeing nothing, used the sleeve of his shirt instead. 'Please hurry...'

Tochi started speaking into the phone, nervously watching Sheldon and the boy as she did. "...Yes, please hurry... thank you."

'A-are they coming?' Sheldon asked, glancing up from the boy to look at Tochi instead. As he did, his face suddenly drained of colour. 'T-T-TOCHII! BEHIND YOU!' he shrieked.
Before he could leap towards her, a huge grey wolf sprang out of the shadows and sent him sprawling to the ground. At the same time, a man with a long dagger lunged at Tochi from behind, aiming to grab her.
All around them, more figures were moving closer and closer, some humanoid, others in their vicious animal forms.
They were surrounded...

Re: Ah, ok. I was just curious. When I first read the name Count Sargon, I was thinking to myself, "Now, where have I heard that name?" It just hit me recently that I had read it in ancient history.
