No, that's not how it works. If Chrom doesn't pair up or support with any of the bachlorettes before a specific chapter, he marries a nameless maiden.

I think with Chrom and 1 of 5 bachelorettes, I think they're Sumia, Maribelle, Sully, Female Robin, and Olivia, he'll marry one of the automatically by the end of chapter 11, in that order. Like, if Sumia died, then he'll move onto Maribelle. If they're all married already, then he'll marry the nameless village maiden. I think I've also heard that if you somehow manage not to get up to 9 support points with any one of them, then he'll marry the maiden. That's what I've heard, anyway.
