K, I'll just make you a Tochi response fresh from the bakery.

The morning had quickly taken a turn. A body was found, suggesting the appearance of a serial killer, the school sending students home due to the nearby crimescene. The entire street was soon blocked off, civilians, police and reporters alike were quickly gathering, except for a few leaving quietly.

A dark furred bengal slips out of the alleyway, bidding a farewell to the inspector he had been talking to. As Mortikai strides down the street, Brink forms near his shoulder again.
/A serial murderer in Shacklestone...Wouldn't be the first./
"And probably won't be the last. Now, you were telling me about someone not upholding their end of the bargain?"
The malevolent spirit simply smiles, leading the bengal down a narrow street.
/This way, my friend. I will tell you all you need to know./

Elsewhere, people who are unknowing of the murder were happy in their obliviousness, and were continuing their day.

'If they have any sense at ALL, they'll keep it hushed up!' Sheldon replied, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he walked. 'Imagine if the whole city found out... it would be just like the first time this happened...' He shivered slightly.

(Hmm... I can't use Ivy right now, so I'll just have Armin wandering around randomly.)

Arminus had been one of the first to hear the young girl's screaming when the murder was discovered. He walked quickly along the street, heading for a small well-hidden bar - the same bar he and Tochi had visited the night before. He didn't go inside, but instead slipped into the shadows under the edge of the roof and sat down on one of the outdoor chairs.

(Draco) Uhhhh just continue as normal I guess, I'll pretend you didn't delete the other thing.)

"Yes, they would all be worried. But," Tochi frowned slightly, "don't you think it's better that way? Everyone will know they have to be cautious."

{Jeremiah walks back to his office to do a little research}
{Dianne is un-enthusiastically tending to her customers when she catches wind of the second murder. Shooing everyone out, Dianne locks up her shop, puts a "Back in an hour" sign, and goes to see the crime scene for herself.}

Ango picks up the little plant pot and stands, beckoning Jed and Toby to follow her.
"C'mon then boys! Let's go on a walking adventure."
She says with a grin, which could be heard in the happy way she talks.

'I... suppose,' said Sheldon unenthusiastically. 'But what good will knowing about it do? We all knew about the first - incident - and it STILL happened again! Maybe the m-murderer is someone incredibly powerful and we don't stand a chance against them.'

(Nobody in particular)

A staff member came out of the bar and approached Armin. 'Good morning, Sir!' she said cheerily. 'Can I get you anyth--' She faltered as he glanced up at her, getting a good look at his eyes for the first time. Then she abruptly turned and hurried back into the pub, unnerved by the gleaming crimson orbs.
Armin sighed and rolled his eyes good-naturedly. //She's obviously new here and doesn't realise this bar is open to 'non-humans'...//

"Woff!" Jed exclaimed, bouncing after Ango. //I... will gain this girl's trust before I shift my form, so she's less likely to reject me.// he decided in his head.

"Hmm. If they're really powerful, they're probably not entirely human." Tochi suggested, before adding quickly, "not that I have anything against non-humans."

Sheldon nodded absently, biting on his lower lip. He wasn't sure how he felt about the magical creatures that shared the city with them. On one hand, he knew full well that not all of them were evil criminals; on the other hand, he was deeply uneasy around them. So many of his childhood bullies had been non-humans.
//Maybe I should change the subject.// 'Tochi, um, what are we going to do when we get back to your house?'

(By the way, I have nothing planned for Arminus, so if anyone needs someone to interact with, he's free.)

Tochi gave a thoughtful 'hm.' "I've got some board and card games, and snack food. And a hamster."

Sheldon made a small humming noise. 'That sounds nice... I-I'm guessing your parents will still be at work?' Though he'd never, ever admit it in a thousand years, he quite liked the idea of being able to spend time with Tochi, alone.

(Pssst, I think it's gonna be quiet today. XD)

{On his way back to his office, Jeremiah spots Armin. //Hey, its that vampire, out in daylight? That's odd. I need to get a closer look.// Jeremiah takes a seat at the furthest table from Amin.}

Armin glanced up as Jeremiah walked over and sat at another table. A smirk pulled at the corner of his mouth. //Ah, the investigator man I saw last night. How interesting.//
He raised a hand to shield his gaze from the sunlight and called out, 'You come here often, don't you?'

"Yep, still at work. My dad's a doctor and my mum's a waitress," she told Sheldon. "What do your parents do?"

Tobias trots up to his mistress' side, shooting a slight jealous glance at Jed, still being a little salty about the treats. Ango glances at them both, letting out a soft chuckle.

'My dad... works in a different school, as a janitor,' Sheldon replied. 'I went there when I was younger, but ended up having to leave for... reasons.' He floundered for a moment before pulling himself together. 'And my mum has worked in a pet shop for several years.'

Armin smiled slightly. 'I come here quite regularly. The bartender's tolerant towards... my kind. This is actually one of the few bars in Shacklestone I can go to.' He stifled a laugh and turned his head to look through the window of the bar, half-hoping the waitress would pull herself together and come back so he could order a drink.

Sheldon looked at her in surprise, his ginger hair flopping in his face. 'R-really? I bet she was happy to see you. They... don't get very many customers.' He glanced ahead and saw that they'd nearly reached Tochi's house. The walk had been much longer than he expected.

"She was," Tochi said, looking at her house now. "she's very nice. Got my hamster from her."

Sheldon hung back as they approached the house, letting Tochi go ahead.

Huffing, Toby nudges Jed's side in an attempt to gently get him to stop. He catches the faint scent of blood on the husky, but passes it off as him being in some sort of fight recently.

Mortikai trots down the narrow street, a look of intent on his face as he mulls over his mission from his granter of pseudo-immortality. All he had to do was sneak in, surprise the target, then threaten them with something far worse than death if they didn't comply. His fur prickles with anticipation, gradually quickening into a sort of quick jog. He had a gut feeling that something was going to go wrong, but if he didn't obey his order...then it would be him with the worse fate.

{Jeremiah raises an eyebrow.}"People been giving you trouble ever since that murder six months ago?"

Tochi opened the front door and stepped into the cosy hallway. The wallpaper was light yellow and the carpet was dark gold.

Crowley was always bored in the daytime. When he'd encountered the weird white-haired guy earlier that morning he'd been hoping for a quick fight to break out, but obviously, no such thing had happened.
//Boooored....// he complained as he made his way down the streetside. Secretly, he almost wished he DID have a job so he'd have something to occupy himself, but he knew he'd rather wear a pink sparkly dress in public than be seen doing any real work.

Jed 'wrrf'ed quietly and left Toby, bounding to Ango's other side.

Armin returned Jeremiah's eyebrow raise. 'Well, I can't say that incident made us very popular. Even those of us who had nothing to do with the murder face harrassment and hatred wherever we go.'

She frowns a little, looking at Toby.
"You're not being mean, are you Tobes?"
She still has a light voice, the question being made out to be more jokey than serious. In response, the german shepherd snorts a little, somehow looking very offended.

Sheldon tentatively stepped inside, making a point of wiping his shoes on the welcome mat. 'It's a little bit funny,' he said, 'we've known each other for quite a while, but I've only been over your house twice. N-not that it's a problem, of course.'

Jed glanced back at Toby and tried to look apologetic, which was a bit difficult in dog form.

"You can visit more often if you like," Tochi adjusted a decorative pinecone on the wall shelf. "Just call me first in case there's something going on."

(Kole: Hey, it's fine! You don't have to join today if you don't feel up to it.)

(OK what. Everyone in this RP isn't feeling well.)

{Jeremiah looks down at the table momentarily}"Sorry to hear that, but surely you know that most humans are easily spooked, and they tend to react poorly to fear."

'Y-yes, of course I will. Call first, that is.' Sheldon looked around, curiously examining the interior of the house. 'Maybe... we could put the TV or radio on and find out if there's any news yet about the, uhm, incident?'

(Draco: It's a curse. :D)

Armin waved his damaged hand dismissively. 'Of course I know that. I was just talking about how difficult it is for people like me to live in peace and comfort in this city nowadays. And did you know there's been another murder today? The human population probably won't react well to that.'

{Having arrived at the crime scene, Dianne takes a look around the area. //So, the murderer stashed the body in an alleyway by a school? Sloppy work. Well, it's none of my concern if they want to cause a panic.// Out of the corner of her eye, she spots Crowley from a distance. Hoping to avoid him, she begins to ignore him.}

(Everyone else: I'll probably end this session soon-ish, since as not everyone is here and we're pretty much all sick anyway.)

Crowley paused as he noticed Dianne, meeting her gaze for a brief moment before she turned away. Being the sort of person who enjoyed sticking his nose in others' business, he grinned and began to follow the shopkeeper to wherever she was going.

{Jeremiah nods.}"Yeah, I get that. And I've heard the news. What will you do if thing escalate from here?"

Armin shrugged nonchalantly and fixed his gaze on a car passing by. 'I don't know,' he said truthfully. 'I guess if things get rough enough, I'll have to leave. Find a new city. Get a new home. There's plenty of other places out there that don't allow needless prejudice against magical beings.'

{Dianne finishes her observation of the area, and begins walking back to her shop. However, she doesn't notice being followed until she's right outside the door, where she sees Crowley walking towards her in the reflection of the shop window. Feeling slightly annoyed, she unlocks her door and proceeds to enter.}

(Aggron)

Crowley pursued Dianne right up to the front of the shop. As she stepped inside, he lingered in the doorway, smirking. 'Hi,' he said simply. 'I saw you in the bar last night. Remember me?'

{Jeremiah extinguishes his cigarrete butt in an ash tray.}"Smart, I suppose. But, speaking of 'living comfortably' couldn't being out here, on an unusually sunny day like this, hurt you? Why are you out this early?"

Shaking those thoughts from his mind, he stops just before a high open window leading into the home of the subject. Bunching his muscles up, Mortikai leaps for the ledge, scrambling up onto it. Hanging back as he quickly surveys the room, he catches the reflection of the bright sky outside in a pair of eyes, staring back at him in fear. He puts on a grin, stepping down onto the bookshelf next to the window.
"You know why I'm here."
He growls, watching the boy scramble into an upwards position.
"I-I'm getting it d-done, I swear! J-just give me some time!"
He steps closer, stance unwavering.
"Don't you remember how we helped you? How close you were to the edge, and we brought you into our arms? All we're asking is for some replayment for all we've done for you..."
As he speaks, his eyes glace about the boy, from the scars running up and down his arms in rows, to the desparation in his eyes, to shallow rising and lowering of his chest.

{Dianne smiles a little.}"Ah, yes. The bird. What do you want?"

Armin smiled faintly and pointed up at the overhanging roof of the building, which was casting him into shadow. 'It's a little uncomfortable being outside like this, but as long as I keep out of direct sunlight, it won't hurt me,' he explained. 'And it definitely beats hiding all day.'

(Aggron)

Crowley shrugged. 'Nothing in particular. You just looked like you were up to something, and I wanted to find out what it was.' He gazed around. 'What kind of weird shop is this, anyway?'

{Jeremiah nods}"True. But, you also can't move from this spot until night falls."

(Aggron)

'I CAN move, but I have to stick to the shadows,' Armin replied. 'How do you think I got here in the first place? Some investigator you are.'

{Dianne sits at her stool behind the counter.}"Oh, this old place? I suppose it can be considered an emporium of sorts. I sell some magical items and cures for diseases that are currently beyond medical science's ability to cure."

'Huh, magical stuff? Cool.' Crowley sauntered into the shop and looked over a few shelves, wondering if any of the strange-looking objects he saw were safe to pick up. 'Anyway, since as you look like you know a lot of stuff, I wanna ask you a question. Why is the road outside the school all roped off and crawling with police officers?'

{Jeremiah grins and laughs in a low tone.}"So, you know? I guess my reputation precedes me. Don't get so worked up, I was just asking a question."

"If you were so willing to do anything then, why aren't you now? It's a simple task...all you have to do is seek out another follower and--"
"I know what I have to do!"
The sudden outburst takes Mortikai back, but he quickly returns the shout.
"Then why haven't you done it then?"
"Because I've been waiting for the right moment."
The sinister voice coming from the boy catches him off guard, and he notices the reflection of a metal blade too late. The weapon catches his muzzle, making him hiss in pain as blood flows into his fur, making it somehow turn a darker shade. A low growl emits from him as he leaps at the boy's face, claws outstretched to pay back the pain. Mortikai attaches himself to his shirt, claws tearing holes as he swiftly climbs upwards to avoid another attack. He watches out of the corner of his eyes as the boy plunges the blade into himself instead of the bengal. Thinking quickly, he jumps off him to give him enough momentum to fall backwards.

Arminus pulled his lip back, exposing his needle-like fangs. 'Nosy, pointless questions - exactly what I'd have expected from someone like you,' he replied. 'And don't make me laugh, it's easy to tell you're an investigator, just from the way you speak.' Looking slightly agitated, he glanced back at the bar and sighed when he saw nobody was going to come out.

{Dianne waves her hand in a dismissive fasion.}"Oh, Some other poor human fool got done in by someone. That's all."

(King: Yeah, it did. XD I love your writing, it's so dark and intense.)

'Ooh, another murder?' Crowley stopped examining Dianne's wares to grin at her instead. 'Haha, I wonder if it's the same criminal as last time who did it?'

{Jeremiah tilts his head.}"I was just trying to make a friendly conversation. Why are you so angry?"

Armin quickly recovered his calm, controlled demeanour. 'Friendly conversation? Is that a joke? You're an investigator - as if I haven't said it enough times already. All you do is run around the city putting your nose in other peoples' business. I'll bet you're hoping that if you act friendly enough, I might tell you something interesting. That's the only reason you're even talking to me.'

{Dianne shrugs.}"I dunno. Maybe. The police should issue an official statement soon. That is, if you think they'll release the truth."

'Maybe they will,' said Crowley. 'Maybe it'll be all over the news. To be honest, I'm kinda hoping it'll be just like last time - it was a lot of fun watching all those stupid humans running around in a complete panic.'

{Jeremiah smiles.}"Let's not forget, you started this conversation with me, not the other way around. And besides, people with nothing to hide have nothing to fear from me."

'True, I did start talking to you of my own free will,' said Armin. 'But that was before I realised you were this annoying. Anyway, enough about me - what about you?' He leaned forwards, resting both hands flat on the tabletop. 'I'm curious as to how much you know about this murder incident.'

(Hey, I think I'm going to have to stop here. It's midnight where I am.)

{Dianne adjusts her glasses at the word "panic".}"You relish the the thought of chaos?"

Crowley lounged against one of the shelves, folding his arms. 'Yeah, I kinda do,' he admitted. 'Why shouldn't I? Most humans around here treat us like cra.p. It's nice to see them losing it once in a while.'

A dark mist rolls around Mortikai as he shifts back into his human form, kneeling next to the boy to examine his wounds. Though the two may have tried (and succeeded) to harm each other, he couldn't simply let him die. The blade wasn't too far in, maybe an inch or so. He had obviously noticed the dodge and had tried to stop himself, but was too slow in taking back the action. He doesn't touch the blade, knowing that it was probably keeping most of the blood inside his body. Looking around, Mortikai grabs a couple of shirts lying on the floor and packs them around the blade to try to stop the flow.
"...W-w-why...?"
The weak voice of the boy takes Mortikai's attention from the wound. His face doesn't change, but his voice becomes softer.
"What you did was brave, even though you are a coward. We'll take that into consideration. If you live, that is."

{Dianne smiles at this.}"Right now, the humans are on top. A thousand or two years from now, the non-humans will likely be running the show. This world is never static, life has an ebb and flow to it."

"Y-you...?"
Sighing, he pulls a phone from his pocket.
"If you keep wasting your breath, I could just accidentally forget to call an ambulance."
A quiet whimper signifies the boy's understanding, and he continues on to call the authorities, making up a convincing story about how he heard some commotion from the street and had walked inside to investigate, the front door being open. He finds a mysterious assailant attacking the boy, then lashes out at Mortikai causing the facial wound across his face. The assailant then runs out while he's disorientated, so instead of giving chase, he stays to help the boy. They're convinced, and say that they'll arrive within fifteen minutes.
All the while, Morty glares at him, making sure that he understands that if he says otherwise, he would wish that he had wounded himself deeper.
"Just be glad that you won't be meeting any of us any time soon."
Once the boy had been taken away, Mortikai continues down the street. It already seems like a long day.
