"Let's get what we need and get out," Johanna hissed as the Edenites spread out into the armory to find their stolen belongings. Mordecai spotted his mask almost at once and sprinted to reclaim it. As he tugged it out of it's place, a glimmer of something nearby caught his eye. He stepped forward to see what it was; a black collar with gleaming silver spikes. When he took in the sight, images flashed through his mind. The house in a row of houses. Jarica, he was sure the human's name was, putting the collar on a tabby tom. The tom- himself, he guessed- strutting and showing it off proudly. In a blink, Mordecai was back in the dark armory. There was something special about this collar, he knew it. He gave it a sniff; no cat scent lingered on it, so he knew it didn't belong to one of his comrades. An unfortunate soul that became a meal for the cannibals, perhaps.
The other Edenites were almost done locating their items, so Mordecai quickly equipped the collar along with his mask. Somehow, it felt right to wear it. Like it belonged there. The odd and unexplained feeling gave Mordecai strength, and a surge of adrenaline pulsed through him as the cats began to gather near the entrance to leave.
They were escaping the Windegos, and there was nothing anyone could do to stop them.
