Shortleg patrolled the border belonging to no clan, it was a open field belonging to a farm. He watched cows grazing in the grass.

Shortleg noticed a disturbance, he looked around nervous of what could be near. What if it was bigger and stronger than him? What if it spotted his weakness right away? He kept his guard up.

Shortleg heard something move, he tensed up. "H-hello?" He asked shaking in fear. He looked around, but the grass was blocking his view. If he was alittle taller he would've been able to see over it.

(Ok) Shortleg parted the grass so he could see her better,"w-who are you?!" He said he tried to sound confident, but failed. He puffed out his short fur to look bigger.

"I know that, but what is your name? Why are you here?" He started to sound more aggressive,"You better not touch my clan's kits!" He looked back in the direction of his clan's camp.

Shortleg took a deep breath in,"S-sorry, I just love kits so much I get a bit defensive if I see a possible threat to them..." he sighed and sat down. He scratched his ear. The scent of more cats wafted over him,"I smell cats from my clan, you should hide. My clan mates aren't as kind as I am, they will attack you on sight." He warned her.

A light brown spotted cat appeared beside Shortleg, he was much taller with long legs. "H-hi Finchheart..." He said nervous, looking up at the cat. Finchheart looked in the distance,"I thought I heard someone talking." He looked at Shortleg Suspiciously.

"N-no, I was talking to the forest...like I usually do!" Shortleg replied quickly, having an awkward smile. "I believe you, I mean I shouldn't doubt the deputy..well I will be off then. See you at camp." Finchheart said padding away from Shortleg, who sighed in relief.

Shortleg turned his head back to her,"If I did he would've attacked you, I maybe a warrior cat but I hate the sight of blood." He said also whispering. Tiny paw steps could be heard as a kit appeared at the paws of Shortleg.

Shortleg looked down at the kit suprised,"Berrykit!? What are you doing away from camp! What if an hawk came a swooped you up?" He scolded the kit. He looked up at Her,"Don't worry Berrykit can't hurt a fly!" He said as he set his eyes back to Berrykit, who was swatting a flower.
