Cael was born in a Heron Clan town close to the Avia/Palmalia border. There he spent his childhood learning the arts, namely song and dance. The village had made a name for itself as a sanctuary for the injured because of said songs, or Galdr, having a calming or healing effect on those who hear it. When word of this got to Gelvak, a group of Baels were sent to raid the village and bring back as many Herons as possible. The village was torched during this raid, thus the burns on his arms and hands.While Cael and a few others were able to escape, they were further separated by the pursuing Baels. Cael now lives in Avia, in hiding, hoping to find the other survivors.
