Desert by Otaner

Is a soul condition. Oil on canvas. Watching the video you'll see how I was never satisfied, at the end that lone rock became the principal thing in this picture. When we paint we have to think about the subject. #desert #landscape #oil

I am seldom satisfied with a painting as well unless I think about how I want it to look before I start.

I meant that when I'm drawing something, my imagination is not focused on a particular subject. I'm free. But when random splashes of colors become interestings or capture my attention, the subject appears to me and I visualize it clearly in my mind. Also with abstract. In some case I stop drawing and watching the video I can say to myself: Renato this one is good but not complete, something is not necessary or something else is too much or there's a face there or there's a castle over there". Then I restart with new ideas. This is hiw my imagination works.

That red line is earning it's keep in this picture. You've made some nice simple but effective compositional choices within the sky too. If you don't mind me saying, I think if you lost the hillock/termite mound (?), the image would actually be a lot stronger and work better as a whole.

Good stuff though. Keep going, dude.
