Re: Here's a basic idea-

They're pretty much spirits of a Cupid dragon that have either died too abruptly or unexpectedly.

Because of the way Cupid dragons are held together, dying is a very odd subject for them.

Their bodies die/decompose like how a human or animal would, however because of the fact that their eyes and tongues are pretty much portals to other dimensions, they have a second being inside of them. The being is kind of like a ghost, but I'll just call it the awareness.

//it's confusing cause I suck at explaining, but here's an example//

Let's say a Cupid dragon died from old age or from illness, the body would simply rot away and the "awareness" inside of it would simply fade away until a future Cupid dragon becomes spectral, where it will live on its back and tail.

But on the other hand, pretend a Cupid dragon got its head chopped off and died suddenly. Now, there's a 1/7000 chance of the "awareness" suddenly being pulled from the dragon. The body suddenly rots, and the bluish glowing being inside of it forcibly creates a new form from shock.

That causes the carcass to rebuild into a useless shell of a Cupid dragon. From that point, the awareness revives the dragon and rebuilds the skin, fur, and cartilage.
The dragon is pretty much now just like a tangible ghost. The other cupids look up to these dragons, because of the fact that they live without the dimensional portals and that they carry the dead spirits of other Cupid dragons.

These dragons can-
Touch things
Be touched
Use special powers
Eat
Die

They cannot-
Walk through objects
Mate
Bleed

Masks~

All of them have wooden masks that form on their faces during the revival phase. These masks are formed from the leftover energy used when the dragon is being revived. 4/5 times the dragon's transformation fails (making the 1/7000 an even smaller percentage of actually WORKING) and the mask comes out too small, causing the skull and tissues to be shown. The awareness then dies from the incomplete body and the body is left to rot.

The masks are very useful (next topic) and the larger the mask, typically the younger or more lively the dragon.

Special Powers~

All spectral cupids have special powers. They're like orbs of magic. These orbs resemble galaxies and form inside the mouth of the dragon. (Breathing a fire ball that looks like a galaxy). The powers come from the mask which has a glowing orb on the inside that fills up the inside of the dragon's skull. (So pretty much, the dragon doesn't have actual eyes, but because of the energy source inside of it, it gives an illusion of a pair of eyes)

Death~

Despite the fact that they're pretty much already dead, they can die again. If the dragon becomes too old (over 10000 years), the awareness will eventually die. Other ways it can die is if there are too many or too few spirits living on its back.
