It was a hot summer day in the forest and the swamp was filled with noises of frogs, crickets and the calm noise of a slow moving river. There a man named Calder was fishing for some lunch. He lay back on a log while his fishing rod was stuck between two rocks and his hat was over his eyes. He was waiting for a fish to bite.

Sonya had decided to pay the forest a visit. Her mirrors reflecting the light from the sun. She heard the sound of the calm river and it pique her interest. As she walked toward it her footsteps can be heard.

Calder heard these footsteps and sat up to look for an animal, then he saw her. "Are you lost??", he yelled out.

Sonya blinked and looked around. "No, I'm not. Just curious" she replied.

He laid back on his log again, "Ah, Ok... I'm Calder, by the way. So, Shout if ya need anything." He tipped his hat at Sonya.

Sonya nodded and walked near the river. Then sat down a few feet away from Calder "The names Sonya" she said.

He was a bit surprised she sat so close. He responded, "Nice to meet you, Sonya. Say... Are those mirrors? Mirror earrings perhaps?"

"Hm?" Soyna looked at Calder "Yes they are! Wouldn't call them earrings though, they're sorta like my actual ears" she responded.

(Those would be some big earrings if they were XD)

He was surprised. "Really? Huh, That's new. Never met someone with mirrors for ears.", he said as he put his hands behind his head.

Sonya nodded "Betcha haven't!" She said "My species use mirrors for transportation sorta." She explained.

Calder smiled, "Cool, What's your species called? Where are you from?"

"Mirken" Sonya replied simply "I come from a place call The August Axabis" she said and stretched her arms. "Pretty nice place if ya ask me."

"That's a nice name and it seems like a nice place. Maybe I'll visit one day.", he smiled again,"I'm a kappa, which is a Yokai, I've lived near water my whole life. Mostly streams, rivers and lakes. Never the ocean. Not into the salty thing that much."

Sonya smiled "Oh really? Is it nice to live near the water?" She asked then paused "...Also good luck trying to visit us. You're gonna have to find a special mirror to do that" she said "But who knows, maybe I'll bring you there sometime"

"Yeah, It is. It's relaxing. So, uh, that mirror is like a door to your world? That's pretty cool. Kinda like traveling between dimensions kind of thing and all that sci-fi." Suddenly, his fishing rod jerked and he snatched it quickly and begun to reel it in. Soon, he held up a large trout. "Want some?", he offered.

Sonya nodded. And watched when Calder caught the trout "Sure" she said.

He took off his hat and his coat, then he started to use some rocks and twigs to start a fire. When the fire started, He started to prepare the fish for cooking and after the fish was cooked, He evenly divided it between them.

Sonya looked at the fish. Then looked at Calder and smiled "So Calder, what do you do in your spare time?" She said before biting into the fish.

"Well, Sometimes I help out lost folks or animals who are in trouble, I fish, I climb trees, sometimes I take a walk through the town, but what I do the most is listen to the sounds of the forest. Which also means that I sleep quite a lot." He said and chuckled at that last part, "What about you, Sonya?", he asked and then ate some fish.

"oh! And I swim sometimes too!", he exclaimed as he remembered.

Sonya nodded "Nice. As for me, well I'm a blacksmith" she said "I repair and make things. Never had much to go out and do something like this" she explained and looked around.

"Cool, Cool. Not many of those these days. Glad to know they still exist. Oh, and you should take some time every once in a while to enjoy nature. It's real relaxing out here! Plus, You never know what you'll find here. Something new everyday. Today, My something is you. Yesterday it was a tree frog out of all things!", he chuckled and as an attempt to know more about Sonya, he asked her a question,"What are your favorite foods?"

(Hey, I think I'm gonna go to bed. We can continue tomorrow if ya want. All ya gotta do is tell me. :D)

Sonya nodded "Yeah, maybe I should" She paused "As for my favorite food well, I don't really think I have one. I like most foods!" She laughed. "What's yours?" She asked.

"I like seafood, soups and cucumbers. I don't mind trying new things though." He said with a smile.

"That's nice" Sonya said. She looked around "Would you like to take a walk around here?" She asked.

"Sure, I don't mind." He said as he put his hat and coat back on and then stood up.

Sonya stood up aswell. Running a hand through her hair.

They started to walk up the river.

"Have you ever been in these woods?", he asked while looking around.

Sonya thought for a moment "Hmm, I think I haven't" she said.

"You need to be careful. There's lots of things here. Some good, some bad. Especially the creatures, You'll find your normal everyday animals but sometimes you'll find an unfriendly monster or a person. I was fishing the other day and this beast launched at him. I scratched it with my hook and there was a lot of rough and tumble. Eventually it ran off.", he said as he gazed up at the trees.

"Oh..." Sonya looked at him "Did you get hurt?" She asked a bit concerned.

"A few bite marks and some blood was drawn, but I was fine. Nothing too serious.", he said with a smile,"It's happened a few times now, where I get attacked by some creature. Not people."

Sonya nodded "I see." She said "I've been attacked by monsters before." She added. Then paused "I wouldn't call them monsters though..."

"what would you call them then?" He asked curiously as he looked at her.

"I don't know. They where my own kind actually. Just more corrupted and I guess, monster like." Sonya ran her hand through her hair. "Luckily they can't pass through mirrors. So you won't find them here."

"Good. The world needs less bad. There's enough bad things going on in the world. That's why I don't read the newspaper or watch the news at diners." He said while looking at the ground.

"Mm hm" Sonya said "I agree" she said placing a hand on Calders shoulder.

(Brb dinner)

He nodded back at her and placed a hand on her shoulder as well. "Say, Wanna get some ice cream?", he offered.

(Oh wait dinners not ready yet lol)

"Sure!" Sonya said.

Calder lead the way out of the forest and to a well known ice cream shop. He got vanilla on a waffle cone.

(THE MOMENT I SAID THAT DINNER WAS READY XD)

Sonya smiled and got a mint waffle cone with fudge.

Calder paid for their ice cream and then they sat at a window seat inside the ice cream shop.

"Looks like a storms coming today. Hm.", he said as he gazed at the sky.

Sonya looked at the sky "I guess so."

After they eat their ice cream, it starts to rain, Calder gives her his coat to cover her from the rain. "Where do you live?" He asked.

"Hmm." Sonya looked around. "Not that far actually." She said "I think if we just keep going straight we'll get there."

"Alrighty.", he said as he started to make his way to her home. While their walking, his hat gets wet and gets floppy, he sighs and takes it off.

Soon they arrive at Sonya's home.

Sonya looked at her home and nodded "Here we are!" She said. "Would you like to come in?" She asked.

"Oh, sure! Might as well wait out this storm.", he said as he happily came inside her home.

Sonya smiled. Her home was like a cottage, with a table and chairs set to the side. Along with a side room for the kitchen and stairs leading up to her room. "Welcome to my little home! Sadly I don't have a guest room, so if this storm last overnight I don't know where ya gonna sleep" she said

"That's ok. I can manage. Nice place, by the way.", he smiled as he looked around.

Sonya smiled "Thanks" she said sitting down in one of the chairs "I don't have much to do here" she said and thought to herself.

"That's alright. We've been talking all day. Time to talk some more." He said as he sat in a chair near her.

Sonya giggled "Yep!" She said and look at him.

Calder chuckled with her and laid his hat on the table, "Do you have any family?"

Sonya smiled "Well, not that I know of" she said "Do you?"

"Same here. Can't think of anyone I know. I don't remember my childhood very well.", he said looking a bit sad.

"Oh." Sonya sighed "Yeah.." She said placing her hands on the table.

"you too, huh?", he said as he leaned back in the chair and crossed his arms. "It's all just a big blur. I find it weird."

Sonya nodded "It is." She shrugged "I try to keep focus on my future though" she said and looked out a window.

"That's true, I guess the future is more important, but it's always good to remember the past. It's history!", He was looking at his hat and then looked at her, "Say, How old are you?"

Sonya nodded "I'm 23." She replied "Which is considered very young for my species"

"Hm, your close to my age. I'm 25. And very young, you say? So, are you considered and adult or...?", he asked curiously.

"Yeah I'm still considered an adult." She said stretching her arms and yawning.

"Oh, are you tired? I can leave if you are.", he asked.

"Oh! No no no, you don't have to leave" Sonya said quickly. "I like having you here." she added quietly

"Oh, Ok then.", he said as he laid back into his chair and smiled a bit. "So, I'm guessing were friends now, right?"

Sonya nodded "Of course we are!" She said happily.

"Cool. How weird we were complete strangers earlier today.", he said as he chuckled.

Sonya nodded "It's strange how complete strangers can become friends so quickly." She smiled.

"Super weird!", he said chucking and smiling.

He looked outside to check if the storm had passed and it looked as if it was getting worse. He sighed a bit.

"Looks like I'll be here awhile.", he said while gazing outside.

Sonya glanced outside. "That's fine with me!" She said "Stay as long as you want to."

"Thanks.", he nodded,"Got any games to pass the storm?"

Sonya shook her head. "I do not sadly" she looked a the staircase "Say, wanna come up to my room?"

"Sure." He nodded. "Maybe one day I can show you where I live." He said as he followed her upstairs.

It was only a few steps till they reached Sonyas' room. Her room looked similar to the room below. Just with a bed and no table. Yet still some chairs, what seemed to stand out most was a mirror in the back of the room. It was made with what seemed like metal. Whereas the furniture was mostly made with wood. Sonya smiled "Welp. This is my room!"

"Cozy." He then saw the mirror. "Oh, is that a door to your world?"

Sonya nodded "Yep! If you want I bring you there. I'm sure no one will mind" she said smiling

"Sure! I wouldn't mind!" He smiled. Excited to see where she's from.

"Okay then!" Sonya said and took his hand. She walked towards the mirror. "Let's go!" She said and entered the mirror. When they arrived it seemed like they where in a dark room.

"Woah... Where are we??" He asked as he looked around.

Sonya smiled. "My forge" she said simply and lit a candle "This is where all the stuff is stored." She said and walked toward a door and opened it. "C'mon!"

He follow her through the door and looked around once they went through.

The place seemed like a old forge. A few anvils and a furnace where in there. Along with other tools. Sonya grinned "Lets go outside!"

He looked at everything and was amazed. "Ok, lead the way!" He followed her excitedly.

Sonya nodded and took his hand again. The outside seemed like a little town filled with flowers and trees. It was very bright and sunny. Sonya smiled as she walked through the town. "This is the town where I work at" she explains

"It's gorgeous here! Very colorful!" He said smiling at the new environment.

Sonya nodded "Its very nice here." She said. Soon going out of town and into a beach. Some mirken where fishing and some where swimming around. The beach had white sand and turquoise waters. She brung him close to the water "Looks nice, doesn't it?"

"Yeah, it is for beach. I don't like beaches that much, but this is nice! Mind if we stay here for a bit?" He asked nicely.

"We can!" Sonya answered. Sitting down on the sand. "I really like it here" she said.

"Yeah, maybe I should go to the beach more." He said gazing at the waves, "it's kinda relaxing. "

Sonya nodded "It is." Some mirken walked past both of them "What an odd couple." One of them whispered

Calder heard them and let it slide. He just kinda glanced at them.

Calder: What other places are there?

Sonya shrugged "I don't really know" She said thinking to herself.

"How about the people in your town? Surely you just know some.", he asked as he looked at her.

"Yeah I do" Sonya replied "Some of them might be around here actually." She said looking around

He looks around too and points out some people she might know.

Sonya looked at one of the Mirken swimming. The Mirken looked back and waved at her. "There's one" she said.

He waved too. When he did wave, a hand made of water rose up from the waves and waved like he did. "Whoops." He said as he was surprised by the hand.

Sonya looked as he waved and then noticed the hand in the water "Oh, cool!" The other mirken swam up to them. She looked younger then Sonya, about 17. She had the same mirrors that Sonya had, but they looked as if they had scales, like a fish. Her hair was a pastel blue fading to a green and she had it in a messy ponytail. She looked at both of them.

"Sorry about the hand... ocean... thing", he said shyly while rubbing the back of his neck.

"That's okay!" Sonya said smiling. The other Mirken looked at Calder "Cool! Can you manipulate water?" She asked "I'm Pukai by the way" she added

"Nice to meet you, Pukai! I'm Calder.", he said smiling, "And yes, I can. I can also hear and freeze it.", he explained.

*heat

"Wow!" Pukai looked amazed. "All I can do is change the temperature of water" she said.

"That's still a cool ability!" He smiled."So, I noticed you look different from Sonya here. Are those scales?"

Pukai nodded "Yep!" She said looking at Sonya.

"I'm guessing your species has a variety of people then." he guessed. "If I'm right, that's pretty cool!"

Sonya nodded "We do!" She said.

"Really? What kinda are there?", he asked curiously.

Sonya thought for a moment "Well, there's and ocean kind which is what Pukai is, flower, mountain, fire, metallic, and that's all I think" she explains.

"Cool!!", he responded, "Haven't met any species that have a variety like that. I mean, there's a variety of humans, but I mean like, you guys have a variety of elements!"

Sonya nodded "Yeah" she said looking in the distance.

"Oh, hey, What time is it?" He asked politely.

"Hmm" Sonya looked up at the sky "It looks like it's getting dark. Do you wanna go back?" She asked.

"Yeah. It was nice being here though.", he smiles.

Sonya smiled "Okay" She said and waved bye to Pukai. "Let's go."

"Bye, Pukai!" He waved bye. Then he left with Sonya to go back home.

Pukai waved back "Bye guys!" Sonya smiled "So, do you like like it here?" She asked.

"Well, I've only seen a little, but I'll be sure to come back sometime. It's a nice place." He smiled once again.

"Yeah, if you ever wanna come back just tell me!" Sonya nodded. Soon they were at the forge.

"Alrighty." He said as they entered her forge. Soon Calder gathered his stuff when they entered her home. The storm had stopped.

"Thanks for today, Sonya! I had fun", he said smiling.

"No problem!" Sonya said and grinned. "It was nice meeting you, Calder"

"It was nice to meet you too." He said as he smiled. He then started to head out the door and headed home.
