I’ve been wanting to talk about this for awhile now, so here we go:
My end goal for these characters of mine is to make a game with them. A 3d platformer to be exact, something in the vein of the classic Spyro trilogy or Banjo-Kazooie, as that style of game has always been a favorite of mine, moreso than other genres. Ideas have already been springing up for quite some time now, which include:
Asymmetrical co-op:
Alan, Trent, and Collin will all be playable, and they have their own movement options available. This goes beyond the typical ‘this character can jump higher’ implementations. For instance, Alan can slide (allows for quick travel through crawl spaces and can allow access to the other side of large gaps via ramp-like structures), Collin has various climbing abilities, and Trent will likely have various gadgets at his disposal. I’m also planning on implementing some shared abilities, such as swimming for Alan and Trent. I keep thinking a fourth character should be added, since four-player seems to be the expected implementation. I don’t want to force it though, so if I can’t think of a good character that legitimately brings a new movement option to the table that also doesn’t devalue the other characters, then it will just be the three. Because each character has their own abilities, certain areas will have obstacles that will encourage the team to work together.
While I envision this mainly for local multiplayer, I'd like to include online functionality for those who can't easily gather people together. Still trying to figure out how it would work though. Of course, I would also like to make sure the game can still be played single player too, which would probably involve implementing a character-switch button in single player.
Puzzle Bosses:
Because damage-sponge bosses are boring. These bosses will have a wide variety of weaknesses, so there will technically be multiple ways to beat bosses. Each weak spot will only work once, and the amount of damage the point deals to the boss depends on how many teammates need to work together to hit it. I'm thinking that each boss will also have one "instant KO" weak point that requires everyone to work together to expose and hit.

Lord willing, this game will be reality someday. There is an obstacle in that I don't have prior experience on making games, but I want to learn. I know this is something I'd like to get done someday, because the idea has been on my mind for almost a year already. Anyway, if you read all that, thanks! If you like, please leave some input on these ideas! I'd love to hear your thoughts!

That is a really awesome idea! Alan, Collin, and Trent in their own video game! I think it's awesome that you have future plans for your characters. Unfortunately for me my Pokemon characters are all Pokemon xD I could retool them someday, but I already have something else I'm going for. I plan on being an animator, but like you, I've had some game ideas that really stick to me, but I won't be abke to make them myself. My brother is going into game making though. What was it you were going to do again for College? I feel like you've told me but I forgot.

Re: Awesome! We actually did have Unity for awhile, it was fun to mess around with, but unfortunately our pass expired. Maybe we three can all team up one day ^ ^
Thank you! And yes, that is what I plan to do. I've been working on the story a lot!

Re. Well I'm glad I have your interest! I've been working on it for the past two years and I'm glad to finally have the main characters and general plot set in stone.

This is such a creative idea! I like that you are focusing on local multiplayer, because to be honest, I feel that games like Splatoon are only better online. I also love your characters!
Re: Lance and Red do have the best champion theme, in my opinion!

Re: Thank you so much! I know, I was very used to Blue having a Blastoise, but he does have a Charizard in the manga. I highly reccommend it to you if you're interested!
