i have a few tips on trying to make it realistic (please know i'm no expert ;A;) - there aren't any straight lines in nature and you could apply that on the border between the ocean and the mountains (make it wavy or something that doesn't look too straight) - depth of field, make the mountains a bit more pale or bland or undefined, or overlay a light blue color over it to lessen its values - water splashes! this painting tells me that the orca has been in that position for a while because there are no splashes on where it is popping up, in other words, add action on the water - this won't make it realistic but a bit interesting: add a bit of fog on the bottom of the mountain (or on some parts)
other than that, i think this is fantastic! i hope you accept this as constructive criticism and not an insult ;A;
That's what I'm missing that I wanted. To add low lying clouds on the mountains. Thanks for the criticism. I see what you're saying, and practice over time will help. I had a reference to guide me on color shading since I loved the pic
Re: Yeah we do, I also didn't really care for my username or the way my gallery looked like, it had a lot of old ugly paintings on it to and it's more quiet now since no one knows where I went. I actually don't know if they've figured it out yet. :T
Oh, some more quick constructive criticism, clouds are normally in the form of a shape, that is light on the top and dark on the bottom, I drew them exactly like this, then did a study on them and realized the proper way, not to say this is not proper, there are rare cases when clouds do look like this, but I just thought you should know.

I love what you've done with the water! The reflections make the water look so clean and crisp! The whale and background are beautiful also. ^-^

Thanks! But it also still looks fake too. Haven't figured out how to make it more realistic
