Why Can't I Remember to do Work? by CenonPlusFish

So I've been in a long distance relationship since August and just recently we've starting video calling more often. When we were still talking through text, I'd tell my parents that he was a friend and they'll accept it and move on. But this time my dad barged in during a video call so my usual excuse didn't work at all and now I'm pretty close to not being able to talk to him any more.

What I'm saying is, how can I convince my dad that not everyone online is some sort of child predeator?

Oh geez...just have your dad maybe talk with them on video chat one time to see that they aren't bad?

Sorry to barge in,
But to be totally honest, my advice is not to tell them. And my reasoning is it is your relationship. If you think they're going to take charge upon finding out just keep it to yourself. And from the parent's view, they just want you to not regret anything, to be safe, but as long as its g rated you do what you want and you will be a lot better off.

Well, it seems like you're in a pickle. All I can really say is to not really talk about it. If you're underage just make sure ya'll aren't doing things you'll regret later on in life. You're dad really cares about you and that's good. To try and reason with parents about the "everyone is an online predator" thing is tougher. It's also something to be wary of because it's very easy to lie on the internet. Be aware of what seems suspicious to you and not everyone is a predator. We're regular people behind a screen. just like you.

Its difficult, since you havent told us what his reaction was etc. I cant think of how to convince him, only possible excuses. I think it might be a little late. Either way, good luck.

Ps Despite him probably not being a child predator, dont do anything "se.xual" because as a parent he has the right to worry. Treat him like just a friend (albeit romantic) and hopefully he wont have a problem.

Good luck <3

I mean guys don't get girls their age for a reason at that point. I suggest you think about this choice you've made. People can always be someone they tell you they're not.. Tell your parents the truth of what you're doing for once and grow up. You're 15 and he is 19.
