Re: You give yourself too little credit, man. :-) Your art is fantastic.
I'm not nearly the best at backgrounds either. I only recently started this endeavor to include better and bigger backgrounds in my work to improve my potential portfolio since I start full-time animation school late next year (currently only have a year left in my current job in the army). With that said, we could all use some improvement, man.
Mark Crilley (youtube) recently uploaded a video on what to do when you aren't satisfied with your art. Give it a watch, it could help ya'.
I start personally by setting individual goals and managing themes for myself and my art. Each and every piece. My characters when I drew them at first looked nothing like they did in my head. I worked on my character consistency, and now think I'm closer than I ever was. As you mature as a person and artist overall, you come to know it's all about knowing the value of your art. Hope I could help, bud.
Re: Lols, thanks. Inktober is a challenge for October that you draw a drawing in everyday in black ink or in any ink color so I guess you could draw anything as long as its ink focus. It's the 9th, I only have 3 drawings for the first three days so I have to catch up soon so I can complete this challenge till the end of October.
