A long time ago, children of hellhounds and humans bore the early version of Alastor's species. These children were mistreated and a lot where left for dead. Those whom survived till adult hood gathered the struggling children and created a village. This village is where Alastor's line of family were born for generations.
What Alastor and his family plus the villagers doesn't know, is that Alastor's missing grandfather in his mother's side is a Hellhound. Having stronger hellhound blood than his kin(other than his mother) Alastor was able to access many skills of hellhounds. Alastor isn't aware of his heritage, but he does notice how well intuned he is with spirits unlike his kin. He does not know it yet, but he can go trough the portal that Momo makes without getting cursed due to having the blood of the creature from hell.
This form has been accessed once by Alastor, that was when he witnessed his parents an family members dragged away to be executed. Taking in the form heightened his already excellent perception. But it does take a huge toll taking in the form. A few hours after taking in the form, he slept for an entire week without waking up
