Only a Scar... by Cheremtasy
It may only be a scar, but it was once a hideous wound, one that left my flesh ripped open and my face caked with blood.
It may only be a scar, but every time I look in a mirror, I am constantly reminded of those nightmarish days from the past.
It may only be a scar, but it has marked more than just my face. It has tainted me as a person, leaving me stained like never before.
It may only be a scar, but that does not stop people from giving me looks. Looks of pity and censoriousness. It may only be a scar, but whenever I touch it, I am only reminded of the intolerable amount of pain I felt that day.
It may only be a scar, but it still leaves me feeling weak, that I am nothing but a feeble damsel who is incapable of everything.
It may only be a scar, but it makes me feel trapped, as if I can never truly escape what I ran away from.
It may only be a scar, but it still HURTS.

Vance is like that with his eye.. to everyone else it hasn't the same meaning.
To him.. it was his inability to save his parents, it was the night where he lost nearly everything. Half his sight, his home.. his family.. everything he knew.
