Seeing as Ash made it to the finals, and that he's currently beating Alan 3-2, it's pretty likely that he'll win.

Better move on to something else since the Pokemon anime just loves to rehash its stories over and over.

Ash made it to the finals, and when the battle was over, his opponent only had one Pokemon left. While I'm slightly disappointed, it's the closest he's ever gotten to actually winning.
Besides, its that big of a deal. There's always next time.
