Cool background and nice textures.
I suppose you could, for example when drawing a portrait on paper, hold it up to a mirror to view a flipped version. You may notice odd things that the eyes become accustomed to when working on a piece for a long time (giving a fresh view) such as proportions or whether it appears balanced. I've certainly heard of much more questionable "artistic aids" *cough cough photo grid
