I need your help! by TurtleeDove

So you know school is starting, and I have a big problem.
I can't sleep. (Properly)

Okay so let me explain. Ever since I was little, I had a problem with sleeping. I never thought of it, but now its getting worse. Every night, my mind won't let me sleep. I go to bed at 10:30, but don't get to sleep till 3. Every time I try to fall asleep, I hear a noise and I get parinoid. I'll check under my bed, in my closet, etc, but it never works.
I'm always tired, because I get only three to four h (con)

(Con) Hours a night. Now you may be like "No this is just natural!" But its not. Its unhealthy and I NEED TO STOP IT. Little sleep has side effects! I'm almost falling asleep in daytime, and I get insane headaches every day.
So I need your help! Do you have any tips/advice from the alternitave of taking pills? Like advice on how to calm my nerves/get better sleep?

Go talk to a doctor, a specialist, someone who can actually help with sleep deprivation and paranoia. They'll probably prescribe you something, they did my friend and it helped him get to sleep so he could focus better in University.

So, at night, you hear a noise and get paraniod? Sounds to me like what's happening is that you don't feel safe in your own house, to the point where you don't feel comfortable sleeping there. That, or you're seriously afraid of the dark.

But, I'm no expert. A trip to the doctor might be your best course of action.

What is it exactly that you are afraid of? Ghosts, burglars, the dark?

The same thing happened to me this past school year. Especially the headaches, and to be honest it's still a problem. But I usually played relaxing music and had some herbal tea before sleeping and it helps a lot. But if it's getting really bad for you, you might want to go see a doctor.
I'm not an expert on the subject so I don't want to give you any advice that could make your situation worse.

sadly ive experienced this (i hate scary movies and if i see one i stay up all night making sure theres no stalker outside my window xD ) but it only takes me about a half hour to go to sleep (i go to bed at like 9pm and get like 10 hrs of sleep ) but when i do feel like this, i find myself praying :) i close my eyes and just talk in my head to god, thanks for my health, keep me safe... then i list everyone in my family and ask to keep them safe and before i know it i drift off to sleep! i hope this helps

I'm so sorry, Turtle! While I can't think of anything else besides what's been said already, I'll keep you in my prayers :]

First: When it's dark enough, your body sends a fluid throughout your body, causing sleepiness. Bright lights can interrupt/stop this process, so experts say to turn off such things 2 hours before you sleep.

Second: Does your bed allow for maximum comfort? Is your matress/pillows too hard/soft, your blankets comfortable, or are you too hot or warm?

Third: Have you tried 'childish' things; a nightlight, toy, story or counting sheep? (If you keep your mind off the things around you, you might sleep better.)

Fourth: Take a shower, drink a calming drink or have a satisfied stomach before going to bed.

Really whatever eases the mind can be useful for sleeping problems, but if it persists, you might have insomnia so see a doctor.

I get insomnia sometimes, so I know some tips. Try less blue light (from screens) at night about an hour before bed, a sleep mask, (one that blocks all light. Look in the website dream essentials.) and earplugs. They definitely help.
